Oh how I love projects(she says with snark). I would love to say I am handy and know what I am doing, however, that is not the deal. I have great ideas, I am an Aries which means I am not great at planning and details, I just sort of get the general outline and jump in. Not a great attribute for DIY. This Summer I have spent quite a bit of time making trips to this lovely establishment. The staff is helpful, especially the lady at the paint counter who is often stretched thin helping many people. Do you find that even if you measure and figure out how much paint you need, you always end up back for another gallon that you will probably not end up using all of? That is me. Every.time. A real pain has been what to do with our basement floor. It is a finished basement and when we moved in it had stained carpet. We pulled up the carpet to find the carpet pad glue to the concrete floor so back to the store to get a scrapper to try to scrape up the padding and glue. This is how it always goes. We always find that we need some sort of strange tool or more of something b/c we ran out or that we screwed up. After a few such trips, we are getting better and we are actually asking questions and getting suggestions from the staff. Listen to them if you are a first time home owner and are not handy. They will help you. Someone once told me that your first house is your practice house, you learn how to do the projects after you screw them up the first time. I agree. Home Depot makes this less painful over all. Also, good thing it is only a few miles from the house so the last minute trip to pick up ANOTHER gallon of paint for the basement concrete floor at 8pm is actually possible.

So this place is always hit or miss. Sometimes I receive excellent service, other times I am saddened by the employees who are wandering around, unable to help customers because of their lack of knowledge about the products at the store. It’s a Home Depot, so you know you’ll most likely be back, because you have to fix something at your house, but if you live near another choice, I would try someplace more consistent with their service.

Since buying a house, my husband and I find ourselves at the Home Depot once a week, ATMINIMUM. I rarely review big box stores, but the amount of time and money I’ve spent at this store requires me to say a little something. The employees at this Home Depot are so nice. Each time we visit, we are greeted and offered assistance(numerous times) and the good people at the customer service desk have the patience of saints! Last night the gentleman at the counter spent nearly an hour helping us order products from off line and from the in-store system. Then he scanned our two giant carts of wood, power tools and gardening implements in about 30 seconds. All the while he was friendly, efficient and made sure were able to take advantage of the amazing financing coupon I had in hand. Speaking of financing, I signed up for the home depot card in store last week and the woman who helped me was so friendly. While we waited for my credit to process, she asked about the projects we’re planning and was very pleasant to talk to. Need a truck or van to haul all your purchases home? Have no fear. Home Depot will rent one to you for a minimal fee. Need some power tools for a special project? They’ve got those for rent too. Much more cost efficient than hiring someone. I can’t say I’ve been overly thrilled with the plants or Christmas trees in the nursery, but I buy all my other gardening products here. I’m now addicted to my indoor grow-light. I can grow veggies in my basement all year long! Every time we leave, we ring the bell at the door to acknowledge the amazing service we always receive and for the satisfaction of being able to obtain the tools we need for all of our«do-it-ourselves» home projects.

Wait, wasn’t I just here purchasing flamingos( ) like a couple weeks ago? Whoa, man, this is a DIFFERENT Home Depot?! Couldah fooled me. That’s the problem with some big box stores, right? If you’ve enter one, you’ve entered them all. The lay-out, the sounds, the available products, the employees… everything is sort of the same(which is both comforting and very Stepford Wifey-feeling), like a parallel universe. When we came here to pick up some stones and cheap-o flowers for our garden, I was totally convinced that I had been here before… but the staff was a thousand times more«with it» then the Home Depot on Riverside. There was even a moment where one of them was smiling and whistling while riding a cart down an aisle, and I swear the cartoon birds from Sleeping Beauty came out of nowhere to sing with him. The staff inside was attentive — «need anything, ma’am?» was asked multiple occasions while I was speed walking from the Garden Center to the, might I add, VERY clean bathrooms — and it seemed busy with the customers who genuinely were loving life. Then again, it was the Sunday before Memorial Day, sunny and warm outside. What’s there not to be happy about when a three-day weekend is glorious? Definitely my preferred Home Depot of the two in town. (SIDENOTE: No gnomes here, either. This lack of gnomes thing our country is suffering is really sad, no?)

This is a fantastic Home Depot! The people who work there are extraordinary eager to help, and friendly while they do it. I’ve shopped and gotten assistance in nearly all of the departments, and I’m always satisfied and find what I need. Their displays change with the season, there’s plenty of parking, and it’s a great location. 5 stars!

We Had a wonderful experience with the kitchen design department at Home Depot. Very professional with the design and different ideas with the remodel of our kitchen. We shopped around with other local vendors for different materials but for the money and variety we were happy with what we bought here. Every time we went in they had what we needed in stock for every aspect from cabinets, counter top, plumbing and electrical. Yes, we wanted to have a custom kitchen built, but for the money we spent we are happy with the result from the Home Depot.
