We are happy to provide you with comprehensive eye examinations & contact lens fittings. We also have a wide selection of the latest frame styles and designer frames. I have been a patient of Hal’s for more years than I’d like to admit. He is a wonderful caring person who gives his time and attention to his patients. Hal provided my post op care for Lasik surgery. He was WONDERFUL! I highly recommend him.

I have been going to Dr. Mendel for many years now and it’s always been a very positive experience.
Dr. Mendel is super nice and friendly. He makes you feel very comfortable, explains everything he is doing, and is very empathetic if you are wary of eye exams. He’s also helped me with headaches due to wearing my contacts too much, and treated me for pink eye.
I haven’t gotten a new pair of eye glasses in awhile, but I do love my Tory Burch pair I got a few years back. The ladies behind the counter are also very friendly and helpful. I will call them occasionally to send me my prescription or order more contacts and they are usually very attentive and responsive.

My family and I have used Dr. Mendel for many years and have liked Dr. Mendel. However, recently I made an appointment several weeks in advance arrived for my appointment only to find out the Dr. Mendel left for vacation without notifying us to reschedule. I drive here from North Carolina to keep my sons appointment. The office manager was not apologetic or very accommodating.

This place used to be great: friendly service, good quality, but not any more. I’ve been coming here for over 15 years. They used to give me a discount without even asking; now I have to practically beg for one.
But the worst part is the optician, who has become very rude. I have a very bad astigmatism, so when I ordered prescription sunglasses, they told me I should come back when they were made up to have the optician check them. (I live in the city now, and would have preferred them shipped to me). Anyway, when I can back to pick them up Mike, their optician, couldn’t be bothered. He just turns to me and says «are they falling off your face? Can you see ok? Then they’re fine.»
If I wanted to be patronized and treated like a bother, I would have gone somewhere else. Which is exactly what I’ll be doing from now on.

Dr. Hal R. Mendel is amazing! He and his staff exemplify great customer service and professionalism. His office is conveniently located in the Rye Ridge Shopping Plaza next to SoulCycle with plenty of free parking.

I took the family to get their yearly eye exam and couldn’t be happier with this place. He was very good when giving the exam with my children who are 8 & 5 year old boys. They have a good selection of glasses and accepted the insurance.
I would highly recommend this place to anybody. Also there is free parking!!!

Dr. Hal is really good with kids, especially when they are getting out of glasses and into contact lenses. My two sons were fitted with new contact lenses perfectly and the staff is wonderful. Definitely recommend Mendel Optical Insight, especially for kids.
