We stopped by the Rutland Farmers market a few Saturdays ago and came upon Boardman Hill Farms stand there. I got to talk with a few of the workers and felt a real sense of community, especially with the ower Greg. In fact he has been integral in developing the Farmers Market in Rutland and assisting other organic farmers in getting started and growing in the area. The meat/poultry and vegetables are the best and grown in the true organic fashion, no harmful pesticides. They get it and make eating a safe activity for our families… If you need anything special just ask and they are more than willing to accomodate. Good people, good food!

Wandering around the Rutland area, I discovered this organic farmstand and garden nursery. Inside they have various produce items and several shelves of Made in Vermont items ideally suited for friends and guests. The time I was there, I was the only customer. The staff person was pretty disengaged, and went through the customary«can I help you?». Even though it was still pretty early in the day(10ish) there definitely seemed to be a less than enthusiastic attitude to being there to work. I purchased some herbs that had seen a better day, a perennial, and some fresh produce. The tomatoes were excellent, I’ll be trying the spinach tomorrow. The sign initially attracted me into the farmstand. I may go back again another time to see if the staff attitude is consistent, but this location is not at the top of my «must shop here» list at the moment.
