History

Established in 1920.

The library was established in loving memory of a Rumson resident, William Henry Meeker. W.H. Meeker served in the Lafayette Flying Corps, and lost his life during a training mission in France. A portrait of Mr. Meeker hangs in the main room of the library. The original collection of books — The Meeker Collection — is still on display.
