It was alright nothing special about a stop along a highway. Their Keanu was a rip off its priced all individually and it’s more costly that way too!

I didn’t expect much from a fast food at a rest area, but I was hoping for some decent fried chicken, typical of Roy Rogers. We ordered 8 piece family meal, and the breaded fried chicken was nasty. Two of the eight piece were OK and taste like they were freshly made, but the other six looked and tasted like they were 3 days old and the chicken were almost rotten!!! Yuck! That would be the last time I go to Roy Rogers.

Drive-thru addict keeps on going to fast-food restaurants. Going and going. Like the Duracell bunny. I was here on 11/21/2012 at 5:53PM. It was the day before Thanksgiving and the employees were practically asleep. They all had that«I’m bored» look on their faces. They also were leaning on the microphones and counters. One sleepy employee managed to take my order. I could tell by his sour face that this was the last place on earth that he wanted to be. Anyway, the food was great. However, the employees were sad and bored little elves. Bah! Humbug! (HMSHost Store Code 405002)

Worst food ive ever had at a rest stop. Ordered chicken burger and it was like eating cardboard. It was tiny too. The cole slaw tasted weird i was scared of getting sick and didnt eat it. I hope i do not get ill from this meal. It was one of the riskiest meals ive ever had. I am crossing my fingers. Note: i visited 11pm on a weeknight. Regardless it was disgusting!!!

Roast beef taste was below average. Hamburger was fair at best. They advertised clam chowder all over the place. After waiting on a long line they said they don’t have soup.

Now, I don’t think anyone expects excellent service from a service area, let alone one in Ulster County, however, this experience was so disappointing I felt the need to warn the Unilocalsphere. I stopped in here around 9:00 in the evening on my way back from our neighbors to the north. Needless to say, my friends and I were hungry and looking forward to Roy Rogers, a chain that can no longer be found(minus Bellmore) in NYC. Kaitlin, who was the lovely cashier at the time had such a frown on that it made me depressed just looking at her. In a dulldrum voice she asked our order and simultaneously murmured it into the microphone as we each said what we wanted. I asked her for the cup while we waited for our food which I thought was being freshly made given the time and 0% of people inside the place. She then gave me one of the dirtiest looks I have ever been given(and I’ve been given many). Sure, we’re from the city, and sure, you probably don’t want to be working the night shift at Roy Rogers in bumfuck Ulster County, but my gosh Kaitlin, you do not belong in the food service industry, nor should you ever consider a job working with people. The food was cold(obviously) and the seating areas were dirty. I am surprised Jeff O. was able to have such a good experience, but it seems times have changed. Pass this service area on by, or risk coming across Kaitlin, Urchin of Ulster County.

I was stoked to find a Roy Rogers driving home on 87. It brings me back to 8-years old. 8 years old, we used to take the same highway to my grandparents’ cabins near Albany — the same ones I am rediscovering in my adult life. 8 years old, I used to get Roy Rogers in Bellmore once in a blue moon — that south shore Long Island I am finally appreciating in my adult life. I never got the roast beef because I loved fried chicken too much — that still hasn’t changed. 8 years old, I was obsessed with Christian Slater movies like Gleaming the Cube and Pump Up the Volume. Pump Up being partly responsible for making me the free-speech renegade I am today. 8 years old, I used surfer words like stoked, clearly influenced by tony hawk and the California Games nintendo game. I usually don’t make long stops at rest stops, I usually just want to go home. This day, because the gas credit card machine wasn’t working, I stopped in the service area for dinner. They had Nathans and Roy Rogers — two of my most sentimental fast food chains. It was nice to just chill out and not rush home, also encouraged by the fact that the state offers free WiFi at all service stops. Roy Rogers always had some great breaded fried chicken. They still had it here. It really hit the spot. The biscuit was great as well. A welcome change from KFC. Don’t get a large beverage b/c you know it’s free refills. 1:2 cherry coke: coke mix. No Dr. Pibb and only Barq’s. I had 3 cups of coke. Sometimes I like coke.
