Great hand packed ice cream that is locally made. I had a nice big boy(two scoops) of French Toast and chocolate Bullwinkle on a waffle cone. Yum!

Nothing bad can be said about the quality of the product! Rich, creamy, and they offer both classic flavors and some fun combos. They do shakes, malts and sundaes as well! A little pricey for ice cream, but it’s so rice that you don’t really need heaping portions to cure your craving.

I don’t really eat ice cream all like that(self diagnosed lactose intolerant) but I had a root beer float with vanilla ice cream and it was Incredi-amaze! Also the vanilla twin pops are DYNAMITE. Like great great. Also plenty of parking and great place to bring kids!

OMG the most amazing graham cracker ice cream! The only negative is the lines are long and there aren’t enough staff so you stand and drool waiting to be helped next!

Great ice cream. Poor service. These are teenage staff really wrecking a good business with a quality product, which is just sad. The ice cream is off the charts good. The labeling of the flavors is horrible, with way too many abbreviations and mixed up words. The youngsters behind the counter don’t seem to want to be there. They don’t give you the impression that they care at all. They grab the cones with bare hands and fill them — ughhh. Unsanitary! The place isn’t bad, being a typical ice cream parlor it’s quite nice with both indoor and outdoor seating. The flavors are plentiful, and everything we tried was excellent. Service(or really the lack of it) just kills the experience. Hey, it’s ice cream, why not smile once in a while?

Obsessed with ice cream. I enjoy the ice cream here, because it’s not soft and gooey like many ice cream places. have been to the store and also they serve it at the Trolley Car Café in East Falls… the best chocolate frappes(New England name for milkshake).

One of the only ice cream shops open during the winter. They have a lot of different flavors with a seasonal option as well as a $ 1 ice cream. My kids and I go here at least once a week. Love it!

Ice cream is always a weakness for me. Homemade ice cream is kryptonite. Therefore, every time we passed this place, closed, on our way home from dinner in Royersford, I cursed the fact that we’d stayed too long at French Quarter Bistro, making us miss a chance for Nelson’s on the way home. Little did I know, that French Quarter Bistro’s desserts are a million times better than Nelson’s, and are a much better value for your money too. From Nelson’s website: «While there are other ice cream companies associated with the city of Philadelphia, there are no other companies that still make their own ice cream from scratch on-site.» Nelson’s «homemade» ice cream does not taste like any homemade ice cream I have ever had. Here is a list of CHAINSTORES who make ice cream better than Nelson’s: Handel’s(Berwyn), Cold Stone, Brewster’s… and so on. Nelson’s did not taste fresh, or creamy, or anything like the homemade stuff I’ve had anywhere else. Frankly, it tasted like econo grocery store brand ice cream. Turkey Hill is better. Ben and Jerry’s is better, and those have sat on the shelf how long? The prices were ridiculous. I was surprised that in Royersford, where prices are normally lower in comparison to the Mainline(where we incur our cost of living), Nelson’s prices were comparable if not higher than similar places near us. For the quality, it was ridiculous. Now that I’ve tasted it, I would not take it for free. I would be nicer in my review(meaning I would be a little less judgmental, not meaning I would change how I feel about the yucky ice cream) if it had not been for the staff at Nelson’s. It’s important to note that Nelson’s is CASHONLY, which I find particularly obnoxious considering their prices are on par with places who serve far better quality product, cheaper, AND take credit cards. Nelson’s doesn’t have this cash only policy posted anywhere, and yet they seem to take it for granted that people should understand this. They are shocked to find out you don’t have cash on you, and look at you like you’re a moron when you go to pay with a credit card like everyone else in the 21st Century. Thanks, Nelson’s, for the snotty attitude. No thanks, for your ice cream.

Every flavor here is delicious, and they offer samples. Very reasonable if you get the flavor of the week for $ 1 per scoop. Otherwise, be prepared to pay $ 10-$ 20 for your family’s dessert.

Very good local ice cream. Expresso chip. Moose tracks. Graham Slam are all custom made flavors.

Worst ice cream I in the world. The strawberry ice cream was colored pink, I got not one strawberry in it, and it tasted so bad that I threw it out after three bites.

A 4th generation Nelson has picked up the ball and is working hard to keep the factory outlet ice cream store open. Although he has some big shoes to fill, I’m sure he’s up to the job. The ice cream is fresh and cold as ever.

I was on my way to pay my rent when I saw that this place was open again. When I mentioned ice cream the kids were begging. We decided to check out the newer Nelson’s. We were not let down. First off they have butter brickle ice cream which is hard to find anymore. The scoops are generous sizes and not overly priced like other local places. I had cookies and cream which was delicious in a crisp waffle cone. My husband had a chocolate chip cookie dough in a waffle cone and my kids all had a kiddie cone. There is plenty of seating both inside and out. There is also a bathroom on the side of the building for when the kids get ice cream everywhere(my2yo). We’ll be going back and can’t wait to try more flavors. Oh and the workers were all friendly and were patient when we were trying to decide which of the many flavors we wanted.

So glad that Nelson’s is back! Our family was truly bummed when it looked like they were closing for good last season. Excellent ice cream, friendly service, just delicious goodies. We love to sit outside at night and watch fireflies while we’re eating our ice cream, and it’s a popular neighborhood spot.

I’ve been very disappointed with Nelson’s this year. I had cherry vanilla ice cream and it only had one cherry in it. Then I gave them another try and the mint chocolate chip was low on chips also. Are they cutting back to save money?

Awesome service and excellent ice cream. Really nice ambiance too. Best ice cream in Royersford, apparently based in Royersford. Almost felt like I was on vacation, just around the bend from my home.

Best ice cream around. I love that there is indoor and outdoor seating. The addition of the couches and fireplace make this 5 star.

I might be biased because it’s literally within walking distance… and I’m lazy… so I Iike that. Inside the place is adorable… fake fireplace… inside patio furniture… the homework of the workers… because hey, high school is rough. The variety of ice cream choices surprised me. I ordered Moose Tracks… very nice. I went back this weekend for some baked goods and enjoyed an apple cinnamon muffin. It’s cash only… so leave your debit card at home. In the end, I’m glad it’s close.

Great ice cream and baked goods. Simple, traditional stuff only, but it’s good. Nothing trendy about this place, though the prices are a little high. You can eat outside and overhear lots of family conversations.
