I welcome comments from the owners, Tom Bugbee and Joe Sladovich, contending any of the following descriptions of work. There were many issues during our 100k remodel project. Below I will highlight 3 items that best represent their handling of our home but the mishaps include:
1) Lead Contamination. If your home has lead based paint (most built before 1978 do), take heed — especially if they’ve already done work for you. This company took zero precautions to keep us, our children, or their workers safe from the dangers of working with lead paint. Read my complete write up with pictures here —
2) Tile Work. The first attempt on our kitchen backsplash was reminiscent of a 3^rd grade art project (picture entitled «RO Tile 1»). They agreed to redo it on their dime but, we had to choose an «easier tile» as they explained penny tiles were difficult to work with. So, we picked a simpler rectangular marble tile. This was installed with seemingly minor issues that we decided to overlook. Only, after we moved in and turned the range hood light on for the first time, a monstrosity of an install appeared (picture entitled «RO Tile 2»). Those are not dimensional tiles and not a design feature.
3) Kitchen and Basement Flood. We moved into the house and by the 2^nd day there had accumulated enough dishes to run the dish washer. My wife turned the washer on and we went about our nightly routine. Luckily, I had gotten dog feces on my shoes earlier in the day (lucky, right?) and had to give them a wash in the basement basin. I went downstairs and immediately heard flowing water. Investigating the sound, I discovered water flowing through the floor boards. We quickly shut the washer off and upon further analysis found that they neglected to punch out the dishwasher discharge hole in the disposer –that’s step 1 of a disposal install w/​washer. They will say that for #1 they hired a professional clean up crew. That they did do. But, 1) they still broke the law by doing work in this home while not being RRP EPA certified and will likely do so again, 2) the final lead clearance test still failed because the crew they hired missed debris on the exterior of the house, and 3) they had absolutely no plans to do a cleanup and only did so after our repeated requests. The home tested positive for lead dust on new surfaces after the project and before the cleanup happened.
They will say that for #2 they reimbursed us for the tile purchase and rework, which is correct. But, they only reimbursed us after three (yes, 3) repeatedly declined requests/​demands (will happily provide the email threads here).
I have not yet received a response for #3. I lashed out at them via text message in a negative and condescending way but, I was livid after all we went through.
Here are some other inspiring acts in no particular order: worker’s truck disassembled in our backyard with antifreeze running into our yard, scratched our new floor when moving our stove (they paid us $ 110 for this also after a 3^rd declined request to do so), cigarette butts scattered throughout the yard (even after their cleanup crew came in, we are still picking butts out of the grass here and there), didn’t measure then cut our microwave shelve too short (microwave sits on counter now), a seemingly drunk worker on premise (or at least one reeking of alcohol — this was witnessed by my wife, not me), wall openings and walls that were not plumb (fixed after we pointed them out), gaps between new flooring and new trim work. I fear what ticking time bombs might be lurking behind the walls. If the details that are highly visible were done with such disregard, I shutter at the thought of the wires and pipes behind our drywall.
If you do hire this company, visit the project on a daily basis and point out anything that looks off. From the other reviews I’ve read, some folks hired them from out of town and that’s scary.

This company did an excellent job with our investment business in handling a job that was out of state. After many bad experiences with local contractors, working with Joe was a breath of fresh air. The tenant was very happy with her remodel job and she commented on Total Home Solutions level of care and professionalism. For once, I was able to relax that I was working with someone ethical who would actually do the work that they promised to do. Joe was also extremely patient with us when we had a business issue and his final 28% payment was delayed. He remained calm and trusting throughout the typical construction chaos and brought the project to full completion. Highly recommend!

Recently needed help for my Aunt in Michigan. My buddy referred me to Total Home Solutions. I was nervouse using guys from far away, and my aunt is elderly. But they took good care of her. They sent me pics everyday of the work being done. My aunt said they were always nice to her. So good job!
