Amazing venue. I got to see Ave Q which was amazing. The actors did a great job and the sound system is amazing in there. I love the décor and detail in the walls.

What a gem! Great performers and sets.

I love Stagecrafters! We’ve seen Aida, Mary Poppins, and my all time favorite, My Fair Lady.
I love that the staff and volunteers treat it just like the big shows, showing you to your seats, all those little extra flair items. The seats are a little small so you don’t want to mind being cozy with your neighbors. This is a great place to bring a date– this is a regular rotation on our «date night» schedule and we’re planning on doing season tickets next year. Bonus for being in Royal Oak so you have a lot of options for dinner, drinks or both before and after the shows. Park in the parking structure to make life easy if you don’t mind a little walk.
You can tell that the extra effort goes into everything they do, and this is definitely a step above your average community theater. Keep up the great work, we love to see your productions!

My Bubbie (grandma for all you gentiles) has had front row season tickets here forever so I often am her date to the shows. I have been coming here for probably the last ten years or so and I got to say they consistently put on really good shows.
The Baldwin Theater is a beautiful facility that they have put a lot of work into– and there is a parking structure right across the street. Their season tickets are also a steal for the quality of the performances they put on, hard to believe the cast and crew are all volunteers. I have only been to their main stage shows but they do a great variety, usually 3 or 4 musicals and then a drama or 2 a season. This year I have seen Ain’t Misbehavin’, and Les Mis.
For a while at the end of every show they had cast members asking for money to renovate the bathroom and we have noticed at the past two shows they finally stopped asking … so I would recommend checking out the shiny new bathrooms!

You know I really want to like Stagecrafters. I want to go there more often it has many good qualiities. It’s volunteer. They have a good youth theatre program It is in a beautiful building. I have seen a couple of good shows there BUT I have also seen a few that were just bleech. We bought season tickets one year but will only buy on a per show basis now. Personally I think they play it safe. If you go and you see the audience you will understand why. It is not very diverse in age. The majority of the crowd is older, way older. Because of that I think they play to that audience and because of that they don’t attract new theatre goers in fear of losing their base customer. Kinda of a damned if they do and damned if they don’t. They use a lot of the same people over and over and over because of their length of connection with the theatre and not necessarily because of their talent. We saw Hairspray there a couple years ago, if you are familar with the show at the end they call the audience on their feet. Well, I was the only one up and the guy behind me told me to sit down. Alright then.

I am a Broadway girl. I love Musicals and Theater. I’ve seen many on Broadway in New York and not much locally. I visited the Baldwin Theatre to see the Stagecrafter’s performance of Hairspray.
We easily found the Theatre, but heads up, it is difficult to find the entrance. It is down a little alley way and they are double doors. The left door says something about for cast members only, but you go through the right door. Unfortunately for us, it was raining and we walked around the building twice before we found it.
Someone posted about the spaciousness of the seating, I’m not sure where they have sat, but I did not find this to be the case. I was constantly moving, trying to cross my legs and overall uncomfortable. I also could barely see over the woman in front of me and I’m 5’7″
The bathrooms also left much to be desired.
Aside from that, that performance itself was amazing. I have previously seen Hairspray on Broadway and found that I enjoyed this version even more. The cast was amazing and blew my expectations away. I cannot wait to see another of their shows.

I have been a season ticket holder forever and am rarely disappointed. No bad seats in the house, great plays, and great customer service if you need tickets exchanged, extras, etc. Everyone needs to go.

Located on South Lafayette in Royal Oak, this local theater is home to Stagecrafters, a community theater group. Performing everything from Showboat, Miss Saigon, La Cage Aux Folles to Christmas classics like Miracle on 32^nd Street in a magnificent 90 year old vaudeville theater, attending a play here is a must.
Along with plays presented by their adult troupe Stagecrafters also has a youth group that, yearly, performs plays and is cast alongside some of the adult actors. And I must say, I’ve always been impressed at the professionalism of these young thespians.
Another perk of checking out a show at the Baldwin, which is supposedly haunted, is the ample room you get lounging in the seats. I can’t stand going to a play, being stuck in an uncomfortable seat for hours. No worries, the seats at the Baldwin are comfortable and there is ample leg room to unsure you enjoy the play.
In addition to the performing arts the Baldwin Theater also offers patrons a chance to enjoy visual arts. I recall going to an exhibit of John Lennon’s art here. They also host special events.
