I do not like going to this dive shop. I’ve gone in recently multiple times and each time have had to wait around for small tasks. I’ve been treated rudely by the technician and recently had to exchange boots I received as a gift. They didn’t have my size and told me they’d have to order new ones but the new ones would be more expensive. When I went in to get the new ones I saw what they had done was force me to buy a different model they already carried instead of the ones I wanted. I considered the extra cost my payment for not going there ever again. Aggressive upselling, poor customer service, and a lack of interest unless you’re spending large amounts of money. They do have a very good selection of gear, though.

FIRST CLASS OPERATION! Genuinely nice people, knowledgeable, patient, reasonable cost, I cannot name one negative aspect of my experience as a novice diver trainee! I recommend this team without ANY RESERVATION, as the place to learn all aspects of diving in a very friendly environment!

It’s hard to find a good dive shop. Most are little hole-​in-​the-​wall locations who never have anything in stock. This is not that kind of place. It speak volumes that Fire Departments and the Army Corps of Engineers come here for maintenance on fire fighting SCBA equipment.

I love Rec Diving. My friend and I both did our Beginner Scuba classes and our Open Water certification through Rec Diving about 2.5 years ago. Our experience as students was fantastic. I felt the prices were reasonable and more importantly, that the knowledge level of the store staff and our instructor was very high. Everyone at Rec Diving is friendly and helpful and there is no weird «cool kid» vibe that you occasionally encounter at dive shops, bike shops, etc. The whole experience was good from start to finish. My friend and I have also done a few short cold-​water diving trips with Rec Diving and those have been awesome too. Sweet shipwrecks, good company and a lot of fun. I love Rec diving because everyone is so nice, you always feel safe and looked out for, and it’s super fun. Thanks, Jim and Diane!

Genuinely the best dive shop in southeastern Michigan. I have been around the dive shop block a time or two and it is extremely rare to find a shop that balances excellent technical knowledge, a fun and relaxed atmosphere, safety, environmental stewardship and only the best equipment (good prices, too). That means this shop is perfect for every level of diver, and especially for people learning to dive because they will get you started on the right track. The people that work there are super friendly and are true experts in what they do for divers who want to take it to the next level, including tech stuff. Highly highly recommended!

Great dive shop with 37 years of experience, a knowledgeable staff and the best service manager in the business. I’ve been diving for 21 years and this has always been my home shop for dive gear and travel. It’s owned and run by Jim & Diane Richards who put the family into this family operation. Scubapro is their top line and it’s the best. They are not just warm water divers… Michigan offers the best preserved shipwrecks in the world and Rec Diving leads trips some of the Great Lakes shipwreck preserves. It is a great place to go for advice on equipment and under water photography and is an experienced Dry Suit operation for the colder climes. Oh, take a swift water class and dive the St. Claire River up in Port Huron, Mi. for a flying experience without leaving the ground. You can’t do better.
