O’sullivan Moving & Storage Company

Just moved again and used O’Sullivan Moving Company for the fourth time in as many years. Derek and James arrived promptly at my home at 8:30 AM on Saturday morning. They were able to load the truck and an hour and a half which I found incredible. They were able to unload the truck in an hour and a half putting everything exactly where I wanted it.
I had two major issues with furniture being too big for my home but they were able to get it in and I am forever grateful for that. I have used O’Sullivan moving like I mentioned four times and they are great organization. There are so many bad movers/​moving companies out there if you’re in metro Detroit and you need a mover you definitely need to contact them.

This was the third time we used o’sullivans for a move. They did an awesome job all three times!!! This last move was particularly stressful because we were moving my mother in law into a memory care facility. The move date and time kept changing. Mike Sr. was very accommodating. The packers and movers were polite and professional. Everything was perfect and easy with their help. I will never call another moving company… you made a customer for life. Thank you!!!

I usually don’t go with the cheapest company for anything. I find that you get what you pay for and end up with regrets and broken crap. I ended up using O’Sullivans because I was in a bit of a bind.
I’m glad I did. The two men who came to my house were professional but funny. Laid back but hard working. Moving is very stressful but they took a huge weight off my shoulder, and it didn’t kill me financial.

I moved into O’Sullivans storage facility last week. Randy and his crew of 5 came over with 2 trucks — we had that much stuff!!! They were a really lovely group of guys, polite, respectful and funny — a joy to have in our home. O’Sullivan ended up sending another mover to help out as we had so much stuff — they are very much on the ball. Everything was tagged and labeled and the team did an outstanding job of getting everything into the truck. I am really looking forward to having them unload when I move into my new home and certainly want Randy again — he is wonderful!

We just finished our move today. Thank you everyone who made the best out of a bad situation. Our sellers weren’t out of the house when we came the with everything. Under the circumstances, the moving company was cool under pressure and figured out a way to make it work. I thank the team of movers and everyone at the company. You will come highly recommended to my friends and family.

I was very pleased with O’Sullivan Moving and Storage, I hired for my late-​November 2014 move. Larry and Mike led the quoting process efficiently and effectively, truly helping me facilitate my process of moving — with their office staff providing clear, useful, timely information and assistance when needed. Ryan and Eric were punctual and easy to work with on moving day: courteous, professional, and hardworking. They took care of all my requests, clearly assessed my options with a definite priority for customer service, as I navigated the various judgment calls that arose as we went along. I wouldn’t hesitate to call O’Sullivan Moving & Storage to help with my next move, or provide storage services (provided the move is in Michigan — and frankly I’d be interested in their recommendation even if it was an out-​of-​state, cross-​country or different type of move that’s not their specialty). I don’t recall any of my previous moves actually taking a good bit less time, energy and resources than expected, or coming in with a lower total bill than expected, as this one did! Moving usually represents some sort of transition, a milestone to cross, and there is value in making the transition and crossing the milestone as clearly and well as possible. You and your possessions are in good hands, with O’Sullivan Moving. They know the moving business, and they do it well — transforming an experience that can be a stressful experience into more of a pleasure.

They were great. I think our movers names were Jesse and Dave and they worked hard and fast and were very friendly and funny.

We could not have been more pleased with our experience with O’Sullivan. We decided our move date within a week of moving and another area company was recommended. That company gave us an estimate so high we weren’t going to use movers (I’m not even sure how that would have been possible…).
O’Sullivan had returned my call, but I missed it and never called them back. Thank god they called me again. I got a quote for the hell of it and it was ONE THIRD what the other company quoted us (and at this point it was only 5 days before our move). Communication was great and everything went as planned. We got a discount for moving on a Monday and a discount for paying cash — pretty awesome.
We ended up having quite a bit to move and our guys — Jesse and Dave — were AMAZING. Not only friendly and funny, but kicked butt at moving. They were so fast! They stayed within the window we were quoted and it was worth every penny.
We would definitely use O’Sullivan Moving and Storage again.

Nice job! Quick, efficient, friendly professional movers and problem solvers. O’Sullivan received 5 pallets of household items that I had shipped across country as freight, stored the items at the O’Sullivan warehouse 3 weeks, and then delivered and unpacked the pallets and moved the items into my house without trying to gouge me… just under $ 350 for everything. I have used O’Sullivan for a few moves both for business and personal and have found them top notch. They have excellent customer services and have been consistently accommodating and communicate well. I appreciate having them as a local business in town.

Great job carrying my stuff up 4 flights of stairs! I would use them again. Fair prices.

I am absolutely amazed at how well packed and how much stuff the crew was able to fit inside the truck. They saved me from having 2 trips. The guys were well organized too. 5 stars.
4 stars for 2 reasons:
1)
One of their crew was ill after a Halloween party and later I could smell it on some of my articles. Nothing direct. Didn’t complain because he «paid» for it.
2)
The clock started when they left their facility and the travel time seemed excessive. I would reevaluate other companies to see when the clock starts. I think it’s relatively common practice, but I think some of their direct competitors do start counting upon arrival and departure from the houses.

We used O’sullivan for our move this past weekend in the blizzard.
We were quoted low end $ 350 and high end $ 420 from Madison Heights to Canton. Which was great. We ended up paying $ 537 because of the snow and also we tipped $ 60 ($ 30 for both guys) so a total of $ 597 to move like 20 miles.
A few things I was a little upset about.
1. You have to pay for them to go from their warehouse in RO to your location and also from your final destination back to their warehouse. Last time I checked I did not get paid to drive to work!
2. We paid for them to go back to their warehouse because they were unprepared for the snow and had to get additional ramps and a shovel. I don’t get paid to be unprepared! My husband also went out and got two big things of salt for them (no thank you) because he didn’t want them to slip. Also, they only wore a hoodie and jeans while moving, You would think they would stay warmer and not have to take so many breaks if they were prepared.
3. I also thought we just paid for labor, they took a half hour lunch (which they credited us back) and three 15 minute breaks which we paid for.
** They did however no break anything which was nice and were nice people and were on time for the first part of the move.
Its the holidays and we were just unprepared to pay for this move. I understand the weather but we would have re-​scheduled for Sunday if we knew it was going to be such a time-​suck and burden.

I found this place here on Unilocal,as I wanted to use a local business rather than a nationwide chain-​type place. They did an EXCELLENT job assisting in my move. They were friendly and focused on getting the job done efficiently and quickly. They were careful with my furniture too, not a single thing was damaged. They are true professionals. I used the coupon offer here to save money. I would highly recommend this company!

Friendly, helpful, and reasonably priced moving company.
I priced out many moving company’s and found O’Sullivan’s price to be the best.
Additionally, having noticed before, they were extremely helpful in spending the time to explain what they could do and how they would do it.
We used O’sullivan to pack our entire house and basement (except cloths, which we moved our selves), including the Kitchen and fine family air loom china.
On the day of the pack-​up, they showed up on-​time and quickly realized they (and I) had underestimated the amount of work required. The gentleman on site was calm, nice and simply made a call. By noon, the three packers that started had grown to a total of 10 and they got us totally packed up that day by 4pm!!!
Before additional costs were incurred for the extra help and box’ (supplies), they reviewed the costs with me.
They showed up the next day on time and had our entire house (94 box’s and all the furniture loaded into a single large moving truck by 11am. As this was a local move, they stopped for a quick lunch and had us completely in loaded with all of the furniture in the right rooms, and the box’s in there correct rooms as well by 3:30pm.
They even took the time to reassembled a bed they did not move.
I was presented a final bill that day and was explained all of the costs. Even with all the extra time and work the price was extremely reasonable.
For the service, friendly attitude and help we received and there ability to react and support the additional work, I highly recommend them and will use them again if we move again.
PS, It has been several months and we have yet to find any damage on anything O’sullivan moved or packed, simply great!

I’ve moved twice with O’Sullivan and was completely satisfied both times. The movers were personable, professional, and quick without being careless. Both times my move ended up costing me less than was quoted, and I was very happy with the quality of service. I will definitely use them again in the future.

I hired O’Sullivan Moving & Storage to move me from St. Clair Shores to Royal Oak. The movers completed the job in 1.5 hours. They were fast and efficient but the contract is a 3hr minimum. My television stand was destroyed by one of the movers. After reading my initial negative review, Christine O’Sullivan contacted me and we were able to quickly reach an amicable resolution for the damaged property. If there is a problem with your move, contact the office directly. Don’t rely on advise the movers give you. Also, try to negotiate a lower minimum time or choose an alternative if you don’t have much stuff to move. I got half the value for my money because they were fast. I understand it’s business but if the movers were slow, I’m sure I would be charged for the overage. It’s just not fair.

The moving men — Dave and Roger — stole $ 10,000 in diamond jewelry from me. I later found out, from the police, that one of them already had a parole officer. They were brought in for a polygraph test, but the police said nothing could be done if the moving company was unwilling to admit responsibility. Michael and Christine O’Sullivan were rude and adamant that it was my fault the men stole my jewelry because I did not pack it securely enough. Words cannot express how frustrating it’s been for these strangers to clear out my jewelry box and get away with it. It makes me sick.

We used this company to move our apartment furniture into their storage facility and then they stored it for a month for us. They were all very nice and professional, including the men who came to move. They also helped coordinate an exchange of our furnishings with another company for a long distance move.

Do not recommend. I was given an estimate by the owner of the company after thoroughly explaining everything I needed moved. I was in a 1000 sq. ft. home and I had moved many boxes myself.
When job was done it took them almost DOUBLE the time it should have and cost me nearly DOUBLE the quote. Also, some of my furniture was damaged. (I will say the movers were nice guys, good to work with).
Additionally, the wardrobe boxes they provided for our use smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Obviously, these are kept on the truck where the passengers/​driver are smoking. I was concerned that my clothes would smell from being in the boxes. Not good.
The worst part is my husband has called numerous times to discuss the discrepency in cost as well as the furniture damage. Now that the job is done, the owner is never available to take our calls, nor are our calls returned (we have left messages).
We will be writing a letter next. Bad business!
