Beautiful store filled with lovely items — great place to décor your home seasonally, and also to find gifts for others. Especially helpful, kind staff. Love the place!

Not always the most stylish but this place is a staple for my home. I can always find what I need. I was particularly impressed with the quality of their Mums this fall. Absolutely loving the rich colors.

English gardens has beautiful plants and shrubs. But the prices are outrageous. Today I was looking for some basic boxwoods. I have bought boxwoods in the past at garden supply stores and paid $ 30 or $ 40 for a good-sized shrub. A similar plant at English gardens was almost $ 150! I was shocked. Needless to say I did not buy them. For the price you do not even receive superior service. I looked around to have someone guide me to the boxwoods, but I did not see a single staff member during my visit. It’s a great place to go and look around and maybe get some ideas for things you would like to plant. Then check out someplace else to make your purchase.

Pricey — yes however I will admit, they always have the exotic and rare finds that I always only see on pintrest so usually Im forced to pay the price. After reading a few of the other reviews Im shock as to how many people had rude associate encounters! Wow maybe ive been fortunate to never get them lol because I usually have a ton of «how to take care of …» questions and I always get theose sweet ol ladys. I have had a few returns but never had a problem — Bottom line– they are pricey but I only get my must haves from here that cant be found anywhere else, and I use the 20% coupon always in the paper each week!

The manager at this facility was extremely rude to my wife. We made a simple return of a healthy plant which met all the qualifications of the return policy(2 weeks after purchase) and were confronted by her with a very rude attitude. After threatening to refuse the plant or only give us store credit, she finally agreed to make the refund according to store policy and turned to one of her employees and said, «Just put it in the back, it will probably just die anyways.» She then walked off without any acknowledgement or further discussion. My wife works in retail and knows that no customer, regardless of whether they are in the right or wrong, should EVER be treated with disrespect or contempt. This encounter, in addition to their outrageous prices, made it very easy to decide to never shop at English Gardens again.

A good variety of seasonal shrubs, trees and garden paraphernalia, but on a recent trip November 3rd I was forced to protest as to why Christmas décor and shrubbery must follow Halloween décor? Is thanksgiving with associated items(hay bales, gourds, squashes, fall themed wreaths) a moot holiday now? I was forced to find plastic replicas at Michael’s instead. A great variety of succulents were purchased here earlier this year, and I’d say it’s generally a good bit for when Home Depot’s garden section just won’t do. A good very spacious store with a la-arge greenhouse in tow, with regular coupons in the local flyers(20% off) as well.

I shop here routinely for my garden fix. I usually watch for sales and am sure to reuse the coupons that come with each purchase. In December they provide an annual calendar that has coupons on the back page. Most of the garden plants are not unique or difficult to get in the area. I shop elsewhere for antique roses. I like that they guarantee their plants so hold on to your receipts. The check out staff don’t always tell you about the guarantee so stop by the information desk and get the materials so in case of failure you will be prepared. I especially appreciate that they carry organic products. If you are a frequent shopper buy their plant membership that gives you a 10% discount on all purchases. Watch out to be sure that plants are for this area or you will have a one season wonder.

I went in search of some conifer shrubbery to complete a project I’ve been working on and I found some really great specimens, unfortunately, well out of my price range for a bush. Granted English Gardens has exceptional product but for a 4 foot bush $ 400-$ 800 seems a bit insane, right?! Anyways, I looked at the bushes and the potted veggies, the ceramic pots and the seed racks. I grabbed a few things and split. Initially I had crazy high hopes for what I was going to able to find at EGs but their stock seemed actually, very limited. However, I will say that all their product looked healthy and ready to spring to life. For now though I’m going to stick with Home Depot for my planting needs, at least until I hit the lottery and then I’m going back for the shrub shaped into three spheres stacked on top of each other — it was pretty bad ass. FYI Costco has some great shrubbery also in case you want a deep discount.

English Gardens taunts me every time I drive over to Meijer or Kroger/Target in Troy. I did a stint in a nursery in my teenage years, and have extensive experience in landscape architecture. A certain level of fascination is probably predisposed. In a giant glassed in conservatory are beautiful plants and swatches of colour likely to wither and die in my untended care, or well beyond my budget to simply plunk down in a total landscape redesign of my front yard. The beau may love the idea, but I know what price point the shop works at. I resisted taunting myself with those perennials and glorious«gift» additions that have no real use except beautification and bank account draining. Then they brought out the holiday lights. God help us all. I am drawn like Romeo to a balcony at the sight of Christmas lights, the more the merrier. Intense spectacles can overwhelm but the tasteful arrangement of trees awash in LED radiance got that parking spot filled and me in the store. Congratulations to the arranger and planner of the holiday displays; you’ve done some truly gorgeous work. My heart cracked at the prices as I expected it would, as the costs are commensurate with the exotic flowers, recognized brands, and cachet they are going for. The floral department is deep and beautiful, with a number of plants not frequently found at florists or non-specialty shops(eg. Costco). Brides planning arrangements, run far away. Service was attentive; there are people at hand when you need them without too much fussing. I have to hope sale times are generous and kind, as I’m left basking in the glow.

Great garden center with loads of accessories. English Gardens is a step above a Home Depot or Lowes garden center, but since the location is devoted to the outdoors, there is a wider variety and slightly more skilled employees. The best time to get a sale is at the beginning of the season, but be careful, since we usually get a frost that creeps in and kills the plants. Great location, everything is compact and they have everything you need to get a start in the garden.

I like to support locally based businesses, such as English Gardens. This a great place for the Green Thumb in your family, or if you are like me, the Brown Thumb who tries really hard to grow plants. The plant selection is excellent — from the basic to the exotic. The service is always top-notch — people on the floor to answer your questions, etc. Great floral department. The only reason I didn’t give 4 or more stars is due to the high prices on many items…
