This is my favorite middle eastern restaurant in the area, hands down. The food is so good, and the staff is really friendly. Very, very generous portions and the menu has a lot of variety. The baba ghanouj was especially delicious, but everything else on the veggie platter was noteworthy. I also had enough left over for lunch at work the next day, so a very good deal for the price.

Boukie’s is doing everything right. I came here for lunch on a whim and was extremely pleased with my experience. The waiter was attentive and pleasant. He immediately brought out fresh pita bread and garlic spread that was absolutely delicious. The chicken kabob was fresh and well seasoned, and the rice that came with it was amazing. The amount/quality of food they give you for the price is a bargain. I can’t wait to try other items on the menu!

I eat here what could be considered constantly and it is great every single time. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is super clean. They have the best hummus I have ever had and you cannot go wrong with any of the entrees or sandwiches!

Fell in love with Boukie’s. Fantastic, welcoming, prompt service, absolutely awesome food. Girlfriend and I have returned 3 times in one week for great quality Mediterranean standards. Their house made garlic sauce is amazing. Wide menu, so many dishes to keep coming back to try. So glad we found it.

Boukie’s is a mainstay for my wife and myself, the rice almond salad, and chicken shawarma are delicious.

Went here when I was craving shawarma, deboned chicken and fattoush salad at my sister’s insistence that it was the best shawarma that she’s ever had. Mind you, she thinks Pei Wei is good, lol. First, we received bread rolls with garlic sauce. The rolls were new to me for this type of cuisine. Im used to traditional pita. They were hot and fresh but pita goes so much better with garlic sauce. For my meal, I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and a small fattoush salad. The shawarma was a bit thinner than Im used to, and had an unusual flavor/spice/seasoning. It made it taste different than any I’ve ever had. I wasn’t a fan. I think it may have been the pickles. The fattoush salad was way over dressed, to the point where I made a sour face when I took a bite. My sister had the same opinion of it. The small salad was huge. Portion-wise, its actually a large. Can’t complain about that. I just wish it were good. I’ve never had a Fattoush salad that was bad, until this day. I know with less dressing it may have been on point, but with the shawarma missing the mark as well, it just made it an all around unsatisfying meal. Being full but not satisfied is no bueno. Unilocalers know what I’m talking about. I would love to see how big the large salad is. No doubt that it’s massive. There are a lot of good reviews for this place so I may give it a second chance and try something different, but I fear that it may be the same people that think Ronin has good sushi. I’ll stick to my East side fave, Kabob Hut, until I find something good in this area. Word to yo’ mother.

The pita bread is worth the trip alone. They are made fresh in the restaurant and basically the first thing I mention to people when I suggest they check out Boukies. The salads are also amazing. The small is enough for 2 meals, so be prepared to take some home or share! Great prices, service, and food.

Dear Unilocalers This place is the whip. I cannot explain my satisfaction enough in words as to how great our meal was. We got the«serves 2 people sampler…» There was enough delicious food for 6 people. It was borderline epic, it made our New Year’s Day so special. The sampler included baba ghanouj, hummus, tabouleh, fresh house made pitas with our basket refilled often, chicken & beef Schwarma, French fries, pickled turnips, falafel, pepporcinis… It was really an amount of food that was something else. Individually the food would have cost over $ 50, but the sampler platter was $ 27 and had all of that stuff!!! The service was absolutely amazing and every time our fresh hot pita basket got even close to low, another new fresh hot basket of pits from the oven would appear. Thanks Boukie’s for really caring about your customers and making this world a better place to eat.

This is one of the best Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurant in the metro Detroit area. The food is fresh and delicious, ample portions and a friendly crew. The hummus is to die for!

Fresh raw juice served promptly and politely! Had carrot, apple, ginger, parsley and cucumber blend. It was fresh and earthy. I ordered a quart which is 32oz, and it was under 10 $. Fantastic!

I had heard good things about this family owned restaurant so we wanted to give it a try. The place is nice but small. We were one of 3 tables sat in there. The prices are great, very inexpensive. The food was great, we only encountered one issue. We ordered the falafel appetizer. When the waitress brought it over, there were 4 falafel on the tray as mentioned on the menu. She tipped the plate and one fell on her tray. She put the plate down on our table with the 3 falafel and said«oops, I guess that’s 3 for you guys.» I kept thinking she was going to come back with a 4th falafel but she never did. It was a $ 5.50 app of 4 falafel. That is nearly $ 2 per falafel! At the end, we thought she was going to take it off the bill or something but nothing was done. She didn’t apologize either. It was very strange for such a small order and for the restaurant which was very empty to not have replaced it. I’m torn about writing this review because the food is great, but the service needs some improvement.

Came here once to eat and it was blah. Came back another time to ask for change for 2 dollar bills because I needed some coins for the meter and the guy at the counter would only give me change for one dollar… UMOK. Like is it really going to kill you to give me four extra quarters? Just rude and not helpful at all. Would not recommend.

Best Raw Kibbeh is the area. Not a lot of places have that. Everything is very fresh and the owners are the nicest guys. Crushed lentil is some of the best in Detroit. It’s a great value and a nice atmosphere. Lately I have been getting the Shish Tawook plate with roasted veggies. Probably one of the healthiest and most delicious things you can get. i probably come here 2 – 3 times a week as do my friends. LOVEIT!

Back in the day I remember this location was an awesome Lebanese spot where people would enjoy hookah outside — I saw that it was now a new business but same food concept so I decided to give it a try, boy was I impressed! Very delicious Lebanese food — everything was freshly made and the pita bread was super yummy! I would highly recommend trying the hummus and tabouli as a starter. The chicken pita was also very delicious. The service though when I went was a little slow and I found myself flagging down the waitress a few times during my stay. If you are in the mood for some good and authentic Mediterranean food in the area I would give this place a try!

My favorite place to go in Royal Oak for a sandwich, especially their sujuk sandwich. I always get a juice when I come here because they do a great job. Everything that comes off the grill feels and tastes fresh. and flavorful. I love it. There is always a server readily available whenever you need something and the food is never slow. I recommend Boukies for lunch or dinner

Came here looking for halal food and was very pleasantly surprised This was an excellent restaurant, very reasonably priced and quality food and large serving sizes, I’m from Minneapolis and all middle eastern restaurants there serve half the amount of hummus for more, I’ll definitely return if I visit royal oak again Hummus: fresh great taste, came with freshly baked warm bread-not your standard ready made pita that most places serve Salad: yummy dressing Chicken shwarma: I had it dinner style; not sandwich style, again very large serving, I do think it could be a little more flavored, a little mild on spice for my taste Milk shake kinda drink: forgetting its name, yummy! Not sweet, had garlic in it Service: so courteous and polite, the ownder/manager came twice to ask how I liked everything It easily feels like a high end restaurant Ps: I wish it had dedicated parking, I got ticketed for parking at a yellow curb, there’s no such thing in MN!

If you’re in DT Royal Oak at 9 on a Saturday night, here’s a list of a few things you can find: 1) Girls in skirts way too short for their age 2) More guys in dress shirts and jeans than you can throw your shoe at 3) Fellas scoping out the ladies to drop their mack game 4) Great restaurants. Out of this list, only #4 makes it on Unilocal(for others, check Instagram or Snapchat). I had the pleasure of visiting this place after a failed attempt at La Dulce, and I must say I’m glad I visited. As usual, here’s my list of pros and cons(however short it may be): Pros: +Very clean +Great rice! so fluffy I could die! +Lamb swarma(did I spell it right?) is off the chain! +Grape leaves are huge! Hand rolled and super-tender. Cons: –Wing dings just really fried wings. Not really in any kind of spices or sauces. Good or bad, up to you. Really nothing bad here. I’m surprised it wasn’t busier that night. Not sure why. Plus our waitress that saturday night was really nice and pretty cute. Message me if you’re reading this, cute waitress. Just kidding.(or am i?)

First time here, and I’m blown away. I love a good Lebanese dinner, and I frequent a small place by my job quite often, but tonight, my family went here. I cannot thank the sushi joint next door for being completely full, which made us walk into this wonderful place. I tried Raw Kibbeh for the first time(check out my pictures), and it was simply divine. Their hummous was smooth, fresh, and delightful. They fire up their bread in a stone oven on site, and it’s perfection. I’m a huge fan of Mujadara, and theirs is the best I’ve ever had. Portions are generous, and the quality of the food is worth every penny. The staff were generous, efficient, and kind in their attention and conversation with us, and I loved that I was able to give my 6 yr old daughter her first Mediterranean experience here-which went over splendidly! The owner came over to our table and talked with us, asking us feel warm and welcomed. I’d give this place more stars of I could! I cannot wait to go back!

This place is amazing. I swear! I’m a lover of middle eastern food, and I’ve NEVER had better middle eastern food than this. Everything we ordered was literally to die for!!! Hummus, tabouli salad, baked kibbeh, meat grape leaves… Even the basic fattoush salad had the best dressing I’ve ever had. Service was incredible, even on a Saturday night! We sat outside, and enjoyed people watching from the patio! It was a perfect evening with amazing food!

Let me give it to you straight about Boukie’s. I think a lot of people are deterred by this place because of the previous restaurant in this location and it’s less than mediocre food with suffocating hookah. This place is doing it right. Let me start off by saying you can get a chicken schwarma sandwich for $ 3.75. $ 3.75!!! Like I can’t get a gallon of milk for that much sometimes. The food itself is fantastic. And the owner will always personally come greet you and ask how the food is. I have been here 4 times now and the food has always been consistently good. If you are a hummus fan, I highly recommend getting a platter for the table. The portion is huge, you may up taking some home. It is smooth and creamy, without being too liquidy. I’m a big fan of the shish kafta and the chicken tawook platters. Nothing special about the dish description, but they cook their meat perfectly. I hope to see this place hopping on weekend nights in the future. Keep up the good work!

I really expected more from this place, filling the shoes of the once Beruit palace. Alas, disappoint. The food is a step and a half below what beruit palace was, but the price is slightly higher. Ridiculous. You’d think if they thought they could install another Mediterranean cuisine restaurant less then a block from two others that are already well established they’d do it proper. Anticlimactic is probably the best word. No more outdoor hookah parties, no more exotic dishes. I had the stuffed grape leaves and the hummus. Mediocre at best. Oh well, since the place is always empty at least that means it won’t be long before they go under and someone else can have a shot at that prime corner location.

Friends of ours have been raving about Boukie’s for years, but we only managed our first visit recently. Beautifully presented, delicious food and friendly service. Certainly the best Lebanese food in Royal Oak, and some of the best in the area.

For an area with lots of middle eastern restaurants popping up, this is definitely one to try. It’s clean. The food is good. Service is speedy. And the prices are reasonable. As you walk in, the place is simply decorated but new and modern. There’s booths lining the window so you can people watch as they wander Downtown RO. The menu has all of the standards that you’d come to expect, except it has breakfast! I was there for lunch, so I didn’t try it, but it seems like an interesting thing to try. I had the Chicken Kafta lunch with salad and grilled vegetables. The salad was light and fresh. Plenty of herbs in the dressing and not heavy on the dressing. Clearly they place an emphasis on having fresh vegetables since everything tastes crunchy and fresh. The chicken Kafta was great. Served on wooded skewers, the lunch had two in a serving. Both nicely cooked with a flavor and texture that is better than most. They also have fresh baked pitas, which should be a plus. I’m on a low carb diet so I didn’t try any, but anyplace that invests in an oven I’m sure has focused on making good pita. This location has cycled through many now defunct middle eastern restaurants. This one seems like it’ll last.
