Valvoline Instant Oil Change

I’ve been going here since they opened in 1998. My experience with them is always helpful, informative, thoughtful, customer-​service oriented, and more interested in making a customer than just making a sale. I’m the daughter and sister of two serious mechanics, so I know if I’m being led on or not. Last month, I went in for an inspection and oil change. Just as I rounded the corner, my «check engine» light came on, so no inspection that day, but I thought I’d at least get the oil changed. This was the day the snow melted, and their shipment of filters hadn’t come in, so no oil change either. These guys checked and topped off all my fluids, aired up my tires, gave me a huge discount on new windshield wiper blades, and when they saw my new tags were in the seat, put those on for me, too. When I went in today, and nearly fainted at the cost of what I needed done (I’m on SSD — limited income), the manager offered and gave me every discount he could think of. They showed me my new oil level –twice. Will I be back? Of course!

I can say one good thing about this place and that is, the price is good. A testament to the saying that you get what you pay for. Unprofessional staff that overfilled my engine with oil and left the intake for my air filter detached. The service writer got a little huffy when I returned within ten minutes and asked them to drain the excess oil. He demanded that he change the oil again, which was okay with me, but I saw no need for him to get touchy about it. I checked my levels again and he had overfilled it as well. I drained the excess myself. Ugh!

Pretty good guys here. They seem to know what they’re doing.

Absolutely the most dishonest organization I have worked with! they do not fix the damage that they cause.

I’ve been going to this Valvoline for a long time. I’ve usually received great service but not this time. I took my car in for an inspection. They told me that they couldn’t inspect it until I fixed the Service Engine light issue first but that was the only thing holding me back from having it serviced. I had a brake light on the dash but that wasn’t an issue. So I took the car to have the Service Engine issue fixed. I took the car back to Valvoline to get it inspected. This time they told me that I could not have it inspected because of the brake light. I told them that I was just here and they told me that the only thing holding me back from getting an inspection was the service engine light. If I had known that it was an issue at the time then I could have saved about $ 500 by not having to take the car back to the shop and put back on the rack. I could have done it all in one shot. Then one employee said that «I don’t care what someone else told you.» referring to the Valvoline person that I spoke with the first time. Then another employee said he would have to call someone to find out about the brake light and then he brought out a book and started reading the details to show me that the brake light is an issue. Then he went on to tell me how many years of experience he has doing inspections. Okay fine. I’m not questioning his abilities. I’m just explaining that
The overall experience was really bad. I didn’t need all of this back talk. I really didn’t. There is a right way and a wrong way to talk to customers and theses guys took the wrong way this time. I will not be going back to them. Let me explain my issue in another way. Imagine you go to a restaurant and place an order. Then the food comes out and you call the waitress. You tell the waitress that this isn’t what you ordered. The waitress defensively disagrees and then brings out the menu and the pad she wrote on to prove that you are wrong. Now would you ever go back to that restaurant? Of course not. And I will not go back to this Valvoline.

These guys are always great, fast service, never trying to up sell you everything. Will continue to do business here.

The last time I came in here, the guy changing my oil told me why my check engine light was on and told me a cheap (less than $ 15) way to fix it. This isn’t a service he’s required to provide and he saved me a ton of money to get a mechanic to look at it. I can’t imagine going anywhere else for my oil changes and inspections.

I’ve been coming to this spot for 8 years and I don’t even live in Rowlett anymore. Love this joint!
