I like this little family run place, I’ve been about 4 times now. Friendly and attentive service all 4 times. All of the food I’ve had was great, and once they«customized» an enchilada order for me by making them with a mole sauce since that option wasn’t on the menu. Margaritas are potent here and taste great. The only opportunity I see here is two things, both having to do with their chips and salsa… 1. The red salsa is fantastic! The problem is that they put it in a little thimble-sized(I don’t even know what you’d call it, it certainly isn’t big enough to fall into the«bowl» family.) container? Whatever it is, it’s TOOSMALL! Sure, they’ll give you more, but that not the only issue. It’s literally about an inch and a quarter, maybe an inch an a half in diameter. The chips are 2 – 3 inches wide… anyone besides me see an issue here? Don’t be so stingy, get bowls for your salsa! 2. The chips themselves: they are thick! Probably 1/8″ or so, which in itself is not really an issue(although my preference is thinner), but the last last time I came most of mine were CHEWEY. Chips should be crispy, not soft and hard to chew through. I thought maybe I just got part of a bad batch, and asked for another basket, but got more of the same. These issues won’t keep me from coming back, but do keep me from giving them that 5th star.

I like this place. It’s small and nicely decorated. Everyone is friendly the services is great and food isn’t overpriced. I’ll definitely keep going back. TIP the chicken nachos on the appetizer menu is big enough to fill you up. They are not stingy with their meat and they are delicious.

Best mexican food in Rowlett. Very reasonable prices, great service and love the live music on Friday! My only wish is that the chips were thinner. They are so thick. If i could bring my own chips, this would be a 5 star review!

Owner greeted and seated us, plus she stopped by the table twice to ask how things were because we mentioned we were first-timers. Really good Mexican food and spectacular house-made tortillas, we would return without hesitation. They care about the business, and it shows.

Amelia’s is hands down THEBEST Mexican restaurant in Rowlett. It is fresh authentic Mexican food. They are known for making their own chips, spicy salsa, and handmade tortillas! Amelia and her staff are all very nice and attentive. The happy hour does not disappoint!

Top shelf margaritas keep us coming back. They have drink specials — even on weekend nights! They have a large menu selection and we’ve always been pleased with our orders. The wait staff is knowledgeable about the menu items and will recommend popular dishes. The live music was festive on Friday night. Just FYI — they are closed on Mondays.

Best mexican food in Rowlett. El sombrero is the best plate for your money. Cold draft beer and $ 3 margaritas.

If i can I will give no star. Worst restaurant, bad customer service the manager is very rude. They mess up and forgot to give me my complete order. I went back and still mess up. Since they changed owner the restaurant is not the same. I will never go back even if they give me my order for free. I rather go to mijas or dos chavos where food and customer service is great and treat their customers with respect.

When I walked in I was happy that I didn’t have to wait. Food was really good I ordered the beef enchilada plate with rice and beans. The rice was good the refried beans were to watery. I like them a little thicker not soup like. The constancy of mi cocina refried beans I like. Margaritas and I had 3 were price at $ 4 good price for being in the little glasses. They could have been stronger. Overall I would definitely go again.

Great live music. Homemade tortillas. Wonderful atmosphere. Met the owners and it’s truly a family business. They try hard to create a great place to come and enjoy a meal. We will definitely be back on a regular basis. If you’re looking for a local Mexican food place, look no further!

Nice little spot I was introduced to by a friend. I guess many people on here don’t like the thicker chips, but I think they are amazing. Service can be a little slow on busier nights, but the live music always makes the atmosphere better. You get a bang for your buck, and I can’t remember the last time I didn’t need a carry out box after a meal. Overall food quality is good, enchiladas and beef fajita nachos are recommended. Grab a margarita while you’re at it, those are delicious as well.

This review is based only on the breakfast menu. We ordered the barbacoa and chilaquiles and were disappointed in both. I’ve tried lots of Mexican breakfast places and this has got to be at the bottom of my list. To make it even worse the servers and I think it was one of the managers were weird. Someone came up to us and said if we wanted 2X beer for no reason. Lol. That was enough for us to not want to go back and try the lunch and dinner items.

Arrived on a friday night at 630, and there was a 25 minutes wait. Which was well worth it. The service was quick and on the spot. Food: Queso was the only area that was sub par to me. Salsa was fresh and very smooth, not chunky and carried a nice heat. I ordered 4 ala carte tacos– They serve them street style with Cilantro and Onions on the side. Barbacoa– Very nice complexity of tastes. Bistek– Very tender and not fatty. Fajita– Nice open grill flame kissed steak. Brisket– Super moist and smoky flavor. Wife had the Double cheese enchiladas. Really good thick enchiladas. Covered in queso, with perfectly cooked rice! Margaritas only $ 3.00! and STRONG.
