I sprained my ankle during a game of paintballing and the upper-area of my heel/ankle started to swell up. It was pretty painful, but not as bad as what I’ve been through before. Anyways, my friends told me to hit up an acupuncturist for my problem, and I thought, hell… I’ll give it a try. After hitting up Unilocal,I found the lady below or above me(whichever way my review falls on b/c of Unilocal’s random order… thing) had a great experience with this guy. I called up Peter Sun and he gladly scheduled an appointment with me around my schedule. I could already tell from the get-go that this was a really nice guy by talking to him over the phone. His office is a tad bit hard to find. If you’re living around the Rowland Heights area– it’s easy; just hit up Hong Kong Plaza, and go inside the mall building. His office is inside there, next to the noodle restaurant. I was pretty sad to see how dead it was inside that mall complex, but I suppose it gets busy during the dinner hours b/c of the restaurants. Once there, he applied one full session of acupuncture after an initial diagnosis. After asking me about my problems and how I sprained the ankle, he had me lie down on a platform and he went ahead and examined the ankle. After finding and deciding which ligaments and what not were out of place, he began to apply the needles accordingly. It didn’t really hurt at all, so if you’re scared of needles, give it a try! After the needles were planted, I rested for about 30 minutes and he came back to see how everything was. After taking the needles out, he massaged the area for about 15 minutes to get the circulation going and had told me what I can and can’t do to avoid further injury. That was it… he gave me a bottle of balm and I was on my way. The following Thursday, I went back to see him for another session. Between the two visits, my ankle healed pretty rapidly and I’m positive that Peter’s application had a lot to do with it. I was able to walk without a limp about a day after the second session(first session was on Monday), and the pain started to disappear. What I really liked about this guy is: 1. He first asked me all about the problems with my injury and briefly discussed what was to be done before anything else. This is great because he wasn’t like all the other typical shady doctor-joints who, when you walk in, treat you like a fucking ATM machine and nickel and dime you and first ask about billing and your insurance. Peter Sun is not a money-minded individual,…he sincerely helped me out and briefly brought up the insurance/money issue after everything was completed. It was reasonable. 60 without insurance, 15 with. 2. He’s very friendly and very attentive. If you can speak mandarin, that’s a plus. His english isn’t the best, but it’s definitely comprehensible. 3. Flexible. If you have any illnesses or sports-related injuries or anything of the sort that you want alternative medicine to solve instead of going to a doctor and footing a huge bill, hit this guy up. I had a great experience and will continue to go to him in the future.

I had bell’s palsy and I panicked because I heard it may be permanent. I looked up on my GreatWest Insurance In-network acupuncurist nearest my home and stumbled upon Peter Sun name. I had a fairly difficult time finding his suite so I called him and he walked me through on the phone the entire time so I won’t get lost as I already was. His suite is actually inside a mall type of building located in a commercial complex. Peter Sun has a very mellow, easy going personality. He’ll give you tips and advice and you can tell from his voice that he really cares. I went back once to twice a week and in a month’s time, my bells palsy was gone! my smiling face was back thanks to Peter! Every after a session, I feel very light and I just feel very positive. Its also a plus if your insurance covers acupuncture and Peter Sun is in their In-network. I only paid $ 15 per session. If your insurance does not cover it, it will cost you $ 60 per session.
