Holiday Inn Express & Suites Austin Round Rock

The hotel lobby is very presentable and every staff member we encountered was genuinely friendly.
Our room was on the 2^nd floor. The carpet and décor is very dated. Walking down the hallway you could feel the floor shake and hear it creak.
The door to our room stuck. The bathroom wall and ceiling had mold growing on them. The shower was faded and dirty. The worst part of the stay was the overwhelming smell of the mold and mildew.
We had a suite, which included a small wet bar area. It was very clean and the room was very spacious.
I wish we would have drove around the block and stayed at the other holiday inn.

Okay rooms, pretty dated. Our room looked as if a slacker employee had spent the day watching tv in our room upon check in. Furniture was arranged very strangely with the tv an remote places right in front of the oddly placed furniture. My husband is a platinum member with IHG, we got a suite because of it, so the size of the room is decent. Horrible breakfast. Booked this hotel because it had a pool. Pool was closed 2 of 4 days I was here. The front desk said it needed to be «shocked and has to sit for 4 hours» yet I saw the pool man out there every morning at 8am and the pool still wasn’t open at 1:30. Very poor time management and management as it is. Would not stay here again.

Was definitely not a fan of this hotel. The room smelled musty, the bed was very uncomfortable, and the carpet felt sticky. Couldn’t even walk around barefoot in the room. Stay away from this place, there are far better options in the area.

This is my first review ever on Unilocal and I hope that this will help people decide against ever staying here.
Terrible smell all around — the carpets are old, musty and sticky (I never imagined that walking around bare feet would be such an unpleasant experience). The rooms stink (literally) — to the extent that they prevented me from sleeping properly.

First of all We just got in and the woman at the counter was rude. Unpleasant and just didn’t treat me in particular like any other hi staff had ever. I just left a HI in ms to come here and have the room smell over deodorized and musty and to have rudeness. Didn’t offer the water bc as she put it «everyone takes the points and were out of water anyway». She didn’t explain anything about the key or where our room was etc. She had a particularly distracted demeanor and in fact before finishing my transaction went to the phone and only acknowledged my existence when she looked at me and because I blurted «thanks. :(

Stayed here April 5^th on the way from San Antonio to Dallas and needed to stop over due to extreme fog and traffic. I was coming from a wedding and my birthday, and I left a bag in the room with sentimental gifts inside. The hotel management simply said «nothing was turned in», though refused to investigate further; Having been in the hotel business for over 5 years in Austin years before, I called back the next day and asked for the general manager, as of course they would know who cleaned the room. He, too, was less than interested in investigating, simply telling me he knew who cleaned the room but they «said» they found nothing. Extremely disappointed in the lack of service or concern for the security in this hotel. Will not be back here or any of these chains, as customer service and/​or security is obviously of no concern…

While the occasion for coming to this hotel was not a good one, the front staff, particularly Frances, was very sensitive to my situation, most kind and helpful. She paid attention to detail in the information she provided and I appreciated it. Even the night front desk staff helped me out very graciously.
The hotel itself is of average, pleasant and clean. The staff greets you as you enter. The hotel room was pleasantly larger than expected, which was great. Although it did have an old musky ‘previously smoked’ smell, but not enough to make me uncomfortable. Their pillows are fab as always (can we buys these somewhere??!).
The staff member, Esther, who supervises the breakfast buffet goes up and beyond in customer service. Not only is she sincerely sweet and hospitable, she was always proactively helpful. She is a true treasure and I hope this hotel knows it. It was a pleasure to wake up to see her every morning.
I would definitely come to this location again the next time I am in the area.

We held the Walker Family Reunion here and got both great rooms and wonderful support from the staff. We were able to use the common area to visit, exchange pictures and enjoy our time together. The staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. The rooms were great, everyone said so. The beds and bedding were especially comfortable. Everyone agreed that it was a perfect site for our family. Highly recommended.

This was a perfect place to get a really, really good nights rest before Austin City Limits.
It looks brand new with a clean, chic, and modern ambiance. Even though it awkwardly took 20 minutes to check-​in and get our room keys at 11pm I would still come back. We got a steal off priceline for the room and hope next time we look for a deal in the area, this place pops up.

The complimentary breakfast is something that can be skipped. There is a drive-​through Starbucks just down the road to tide you over before you’re in the land of Austin local deliciousness!

Ugh, I need to learn to stop trusting the Holiday Inn Express brand. When they first started HE «Express,» they were all new, sleek hotels. Now they take old, old, Holiday Inns, and just rename them «Express,» like this one.
I was pretty happy when we first walked in the room, because we were given a suite, with a kitchen, fridge, table. The room didn’t really seem dirty, but there was a used towel on the back of the bathroom door… pretty gross. The bathroom was also crazy tiny with a very low shower head. But the worst part was the bed… omg! Possibly the worst mattress I have ever slept on. The springs all clicked when you sat down and we sank into the middle of the bed. Horrible, horrible, sleep… on top of the mattress being awful, the sheets easily snapped off the mattress.
Breakfast was kinda disappointing. It’s 6:30 — 9:30 AM. I had my heart set on some fruit. I went down at 9:15, and all that remained was ONE banana. And their pancake maker was broken. Boo!
Such a shame, Holiday Inn had something really cool with the Express brand.

Inexpensive, clean… and dry. Good place to sleep for the night.

Realizing at the last minute that we were not going to be able to meet with our new landlord and get keys to the house we were moving to, we were scrambling to locate a hotel to stay in. Also not realizing that there was some type of Little League Baseball tournament happening, finding a room proved to be something of a challenge. This hotel though, did have a room available, albeit not a lot of rooms, but we could get one and that was all that mattered.
When we arrived, the front desk attendant was so nice. Trust me, I’ve met my share of not so nice people that work at other hotels. What got my attention though was the entrance, it was sleek, modern, elegant and comfortable all at the same time. The staff just made the visit even more enjoyable. There was a restaurant on site, which was such a relief! We were in the process of doing a semi-​cross country move from KY to this area, and were quite sick of trying to find someplace to eat. We just wanted to sit down, eat something and go back to our room. The wait staff in the restaurant was amazing! He answered the questions we had about local things to do/​see, etc. Above and beyond that, he purposely sought out the concierge and had some information printed out for us and then just bantered back and forth with us. Oh, he was so nice! I just can’t remember his name at this moment though.
The room was truly a breath of fresh air. We had plenty of room to move about. This establishment being a brand new hotel showed. Although we did have an issue on figuring out how to enter the room with our key. We figured it out though! Think electronic room card, but no slot to enter the card to unlock the room. Savvy.
When the time comes that we have visitors, if there are too many for them to all stay at our house, then this hotel is where we will have them stay. Hands down, one of the nicest establishments we have been.

Checked in and was told at check in that the rate that I booked three days ago on their web site was no longer being offered, so my free $ 25.00 per night gift card would not be happening. When I questioned it saying that is the major reason I am choosing this hotel compared to the one down the street that is offering 5000 bonus points, she responded that all the hotels are super booked this weekend and she would be more than happy to delete my reservation in order to make room for others. I told her I felt this was a scam to not honor my reservation pricing/​rewards when you know I cant get a hotel anywhere else tonight? I asked for a manager, she said no one is here but me (Friday afternoon). When I pushed on the idiocy of this issue, she shrugged and said I don’t know what you want me to do. I called priority club and chewed on them. I told them I can still book this exact room on their site at this rate, yet they refuse to honor it. Priority club was nice the first call and said they will fight this fight for me and have a manager call me with in the hour. I get back from my work schedule 6 hours later, no phone call, stop by the desk to talk to a manger, same lady is there and says sorry no manager (this is a Friday night). Next morning I go down, check on a mgr (I am completely packed in order to leave the hotel) no manager on duty I ask for a third time for them to contact me and they say sure. I go about my work business that day. I call priority club an hour later and go through the same crap explaining it all except the lady is now 10x more rude to me than the first call. I say the offer is still on your site 24 hours later. She reads her standard regret apology and says she will get me with a manager by noon no matter what. I argue that I have already heard that, but fine. At noon, no call, so I call back to priority club, lady is extremely short with me, sassy and basically just being a smart ass about everything I am trying to explain to her. She puts me on hold to resolve the issue, but transfers me to redeem points so I have to go through it all over again to try to get back to her. I spent 40 minutes on the phone just trying to get an answer and back to the right person. When I finally did get back to that manager she was brutally rude and said all of my stuff was waiting at the hotel to correct this issue. No apology no reasoning, no above or beyond, just here, don’t call back.
I got a call from the manager of the hotel (Blake) 2 min later with a hollow apology etc. He told me he had the two gift cards for me and that he would love for me to give them another chance tonight since I canceled my reservation, I chewed on him of how irresponsible it is to take 28 hours to get back with a guest on an issue that will end up costing you $ 125.00 in room stays. I said I appreciate the above and beyond last minute, but morally I would be staying elsewhere tonight as I had planned but I will be by to pick up my gift cards. When I picked them up I noticed he took one out since I wasn’t willing to stay in their crappy hotel another night, even thought he told me he had two for me. So I guess the above and beyond only worked if I was willing to pay them another $ 100.00. This shows me they have no seriousness in going above and beyond (or minimally meeting) customer service standards. If I could give them a negative number I would. HORRIBLE experience. To top it off this is a certified holiday inn through their web site. when I asked how they get that rating, no one at priority club was willing to divulge that info. when I asked how I can report this back to them in order for my vote to count against that certified rating, no one knew how or what I needed to do.
All in all it was like a bait and switch (which is actually against the law here in Texas.)
