History

Established in 1986.

Lifetime Adoption was founded in 1986 as an Adoption Support and Referral Group. The mission was and still is to help families and birthmothers come together.

The founder and director, Mardie Caldwell, is a certified open adoption practitioner and is bonded and fully insured as an adoption facilitator. Lifetime Adoption is registered with the State of California under the provisions of the Registry of California Adoption Facilitators. Lifetime is also a member in good standing with the Better Business Bureau of Sacramento, a member of the Grass Valley/​Nevada County Chamber of Commerce and the California Association of Employers.

We did a lot of research off and on for several years before we decided to use Lifetime. We are so proud to call ourselves a Lifetime family!
I am sure our path isn’t out of the ordinary. After spending a couple of years and too many thousands of dollars on unsuccessful infertility treatments, we went back to considering adoption. We decided our goal was to become PARENTS, and adoption was the one path that offered us the best chances of reaching our goal.
From the very beginning, Lifetime stood out to us. They always responded promptly to us, and shared more than just pat answers. We never felt they were trying to just rush us off the phone (unlike other places where we got the brush off for no apparent reason). They took the time to explain what to expect, emotionally, logistically, financially — as well as explained why they were confident we would be successful in their program.
We also knew that choosing a Christian organization to work with us was VERY important as we stepped out in faith to follow this calling that God had placed on our hearts.
In a nutshell, Lifetime did everything they promised. They walked us through every step, and held our hands through the tricky parts where we started to doubt ourselves. We have a wonderful relationship with our child’s birthmother and her family, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We are thrilled to be parents and we know that this was all in God’s plan!
One of the best parts about Lifetime, that we didn’t even realize to look for at first, was the support and services for birthmothers. Lifetime was really there for her to make sure this was what she really wanted. They still provided support for her even after we were home and the adoption was «over.»
Our child’s birthmother was very picky. She wanted to make her own adoption plan and researched before she even chose Lifetime to work with! We are so proud of her and all that she has accomplished! Our adoption truly is a bond of trust that started with us and God, lead to a trust between us and Lifetime, and ended in a trusting relationship with us and birthmother.
