I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and unsweetened ice tea. Let’s start with some positives. The server was friendly and there were plenty of fresh lemon slices available at the ice tea station. The pulled pork was dry and bland, and the tea was watery. I added some of the bland house sauce and then some Tabasco, which helped a bit. I’m a recent northern transplant so maybe I just don’t get it, but the whole experience reminded me of the old Peggy Lee song, «Is That All There Is?»

We went for the RIBS and they fell off the bone, great sauce too. Unfortunately the corn bread was not good and they didnt have any honey to help it. … Great for the family

Pork is usually dry. Not great bbq. Mac and cheese is terrible. This was my last visit. Food has continued to go downhill

The food isn’t bad, but nether is it particularly great. There’s nothing to distinguish it from middling, chain restaurant barbecue you can find just about anywhere else. I wouldn’t say I was disappointed in my meal, but I don’t feel the urge to get back to Slopes anytime soon.(This review is of the Roswell location, though I’ve also been to the Slopes in Cartersville and was left feeling perfectly«meh» about the food there as well.) When it comes to whether someone enjoys a barbecue joint, so much relies on personal taste. This is a good spot for those who don’t mind having to add a ton of sauce onto bland-tasting meat. If you like your meat already seasoned or are looking for a killer homemade sauce, you’re not going to be very happy. The people who work here are friendly. We were seated quickly, our food appeared promptly, and we had a polite waiter who kept our glasses of sweet tea full but wasn’t smothering. It was enough to ale up for the crazy political atmosphere. A large Confederate flag hangs near the counter, and photos from the restaurant’s event for Republican Governor Nathan Deal adorn the walls. I’m sure they were perfectly happy to take my money as anyone else’s, but it’s always odd to me when restaurant proprietors choose purposefully controversial decorations.

Never had a bad experience here. This is my go to place for bbq. I’m not really a rib kind of person but their pulled pork is great. It’s a family owned business which makes me more than happy to spend my money here rather than a large impersonal corporate location. Definitely southern. Come and try it out. Most people get take out so the location often seems closed due to the lack of cars.

So-so bbq for the area. Nothing really sets this place apart from the others. To be frankly honest I thought this place was closed/out of business because each time I drive by there are so few cars in the lot. I don’t know if it is the high bushes/schrubbary along the road but I never stopped here before driving past for about 5 years since I thought it must not be any good due to lack of perceived business. It also tends to sneak up on you if you don’t know the street that well. Inside it looks decent but I got my food to go. The old lady working the counter seemed very country and pleasant. The ribs were just not overly impressive. I may try something else next time since I go by here daily on my way home.

Not my favorite BBQ in the area. More of a vinegar based sauce and kind of bland. I would eat it in a pinch but there are other good places around.

BBQ was always an affordable staple in the south. Some so called BBQ places are charging $ 22 for a plate/$ 28 for ribs. Seriously! Don’t waste your money — go to Slope’s and get the REALTHING for about half that! Slope’s is good olé classic southern BBQ with tasty sides, very sweet tea and good southern hospitality service. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Self serve on drinks. For less than $ 9 you can get a jumb pork sandwich, 2 sides and drink. For $ 11 there is the ribs/pulled pork combo plate. I loved the black eyed peas and fried okra. Ample portions. Desserts are less than $ 3 and taste way better than some plates charging $ 6+ for a dessert! I don’t understand the comments about only one sauce — those folks must not have opened their eyes because there are 2 classic sauces at Slope’s. Last year Slope’s catered lunch for our office. Owner’s wife was very helpful in suggesting how much food I should order for 45 people, it was the least expensive catering we ever ordered and everyone loved it! We didn’t have any leftovers. Do yourself a favor and try Slope’s! It’s good!

Wow, such negative reviews. Slopes is not the best barbecue place around, but one star? Wow. Sonny’s, they are not, and even Sonny’s has better averages at most locations. To most people who are going to read this review, just try the place knowing that it is above average with a different style of sauce normal for this area of the south. Decent overall.

BBQ was ok, average. Had a BBQ pork sandwich, fried okra, and Brunswick stew. Okra was good, stew was not good.

It wasn’t awful but it wasn’t great. The husband and I spent a significant amount of time picking out a new couch next door at the Comfortable Chair Store. All that hard work gave us quite the appetite so we needed something to eat right away. We walked across the parking to Slope’s and waited in line to order. I was surprised at just how busy it was. I thought that this would be a good sign… but it really wasn’t. I ordered the chopped chicken plate with fried okra and baked beans. Husband got the pulled pork, black eyed peas and sweet potato fries. I like the chicken — it was kind of dry — and they only have one kind of BBQ sauce which was disappointing. It was very vinegary and just kind of meh. The okra was good as were the beans. The cornbread was lacking in flavor so I didn’t eat it. My husband was also underwhelmed with his food. Needless to say we probably won’t be back.

I almost avoided trying Slopes due to the low ratings however, it was good in my opinion. I ordered a combination plate [to-go] with ribs(three) and ¼ chicken(breast & wing). Sides: fried okra and potato salad. The spare ribs did not have as much meat as ribs I have tried at other places, but they were well seasoned and came with just the right about of sauce on them. I did not add any. The chicken was moist and not dried out, as I have had from other places. The fried okra and potato salad were good. The blackberry cobbler was good. It can be ordered á la mode also.

My wife and I were new to the area, and hungering for Bar-B-Cue. You know the feeling. Well, we saw Slopes and pulled into the parking lot. It was nearly empty at evening rush hour, which is always a danger sign. But we ignored it and walked in. What a mistake. The pork BBQ was very poor and in small servings. We also ordered a shredded pork sandwich that had a soggy soft bun crushed in a paper wrapping and served on a styrofoam plate. The corn seemed like it had been boiled for a week. Soggy and tasteless. And my drink was served in another styrofoam cup printed with advertisements for Slope franchises.(I really had to laugh at the fact I was eating such awful food at the same time being pitched for a franchise by the cup sitting in front of me. Well… you had to be there to appreciate the sick humor.) Gosh, I really do hate to trash any restaurant that offers somebody employment. But this place is not worth your visit.

Slopes was OK. The barbecue wasn’t bad, but the sides were a bit lacking. The service was friendly, but kinda slow, and the plastic ware just felt cheap. The prices are fine, but not especially great. It’s ok if you need a fix, but there is better BBQ elsewhere. I wouldn’t complain if someone else wanted to go, though.

I love this place and when ever I’m in Roswell, I’ll make a point to stop by Slopes for some BBQ. It’s cheap, the staff is awesome, and the food is super yummy! Living in California we don’t get good BBQ and I really enjoy what Slopes has to offer. For me, its just that down home, family feel BBQ, and that BBQ sauce, I can drink that stuff, seriously. I always get the pulled pork sandwich with either the fried okra or french fries, than I drench everything in that lovely vinegar based BBQ sauce! Don’t change anything because when I find out my company is sending me to Atlanta, I’m already set to walking into Slopes and ordering my usual!

Great staff, great food, great prices. Slopes had not let me down and for that reason I’m making it my bbq go to. Food comes out fast and is nice and hot. I really have no complains other than you have to go to the counter for refills.

I used to hit the old Roswell location fairly regularly in high school and college but hadn’t been back to what I still consider the«new» location in years. But I got my chance a few weeks ago and wasn’t disappointed. The bbq tasted just like I remembered, and the interior is still as cute as ever with little pig knick-knacks and a down-home feel. I think I even remembered the lady behind the counter from my high school days! The bbq was good but the sauce didn’t have as much vinegar as I like.(Having recently lived in Macon, I got spoiled by having Fresh Air BBQ just down the road. Now that’s some good vinegar sauce!) But I love the meat-and-two concept that allows you to get a nice heaping bbq sandwich with your choice of sides. Mine were fried okra and mac-and-cheese. Both were delicious, and the sweet tea hit the spot. I’m glad to have rediscovered Slopes.

I do not know how anyone could give this place a good review that knows their BBQ, but explains my curiosity on how its stayed open so long! The sides are soggy and uninspired slop. The pulled pork is lacking in flavor. The ribs are nothing special as well. And if you dont take my word for it, this month’s BBQ review in Atlanta magazine gave this place on of their worst ratings. With one of the best BBQ places in the Atlanta area(Swallow in the Hollow) why would you waste precious stomach space on something this mediocre? Who cares if this is a «Roswell Staple». Not good food is not good, no matter how long its been around!
