I am sure every doctor has dissatisfied patients, and though I won’t go on the way that Mr. H did, I will share with the readers that I have had 2 surgeries preformed by Dr. Schancupp. Both ankles, one was a torn Achilles tendon the other was hardware removal from a severe break 3 years back. And he is an excellent surgeon. He does not have a bubbly outgoing personality, however he’s friendly, compassionate, and thorough. My Pt said it was excellent work, as it relates to the scarring and scar tissue. Also Nicole and staff is a joy to deal with, there was lots of work forms, and though they do charge for filling them out it was always easy to get taken care of. If I ever have any other problems with feet or ankle, I will go to Dr. Schnacupp

My name is Bradley Haddad and I would like to share my experiences of foot surgery with Joel Schancupp, podiatrist, practicing in Roswell, Ga. Back in 1997 I had a bone spur on the bottom of my right heel. I made the big mistake of going to Joel Schancupp who was listed in my employer’s medical guide. After he had taken care of my bone spur we discussed the X-ray’s he had taken of my feet. I told him that the bones in both of my big toes hurt. I had no idea that there was no cartilage in the toe joint in both my toes. Dr. Schancupp told me I had feet of an old man and that he needed to perform surgery. I had two weeks’ vacation coming up and decided to have the surgery. When I came to he had cut the top of my big toes taken out the center bone and then fused the toes back together. I now have big toes that are shortened. He did not tell me he was going to take the two bones out of the bottom of my feet. He also removed the two bones that are located at the balls of my feet(where you get the balance to do any type of sports related activities). When I came to after the surgery my mother and father had to pick me up so I could try to walk. I had no balance and I had to walk on the outsides of my feet. I could not walk correctly. The ability to do any type of mobile activity was gone. After the surgery he told me if, I had any pain what so ever to call him. I did and found out he was on a two week vacation. When Joel came back in town my mother took me in so he could check on the results. When he took the bandages off he noticed that my big toes where he had made the incisions were infected. He was furious and was rude to my mother and me. We were shocked at his behavior because we followed his instructions. He told me that it was going to take another two weeks. I was very frustrated as my vacation time was up and I was fearful of losing my job. When my incisions had healed he would put something on the floor and told me to try and bend my toes together and try to pick up something with my big toe and the one next to it I couldn’t do the task. He then asked me to go visit some of his colleagues When I finally got back to work after ten months out on sick leave, my boss put me in another position. The position was temporary and I was let go. The inability to stay on my feet caused me to have to change careers. I was in the automotive field for thirty years and this change has been very traumatic. Now it is years later and due to the incisions he made on my the top sides of my big toes which severed, the nerves I cannot feel much of anything. My feet stay numb and always cold. It feels like the blood circulation is not there. When I walk I have to walk on both the heels of my feet which jars my body. Other ramifications of this surgery the degenerative discs in my back L4 and L5. I am unable to lift anything that has any-type of weight. I visit a chiropractor two or three times a week. He can make adjustments but, they are a temporary fix. It does not take long before I am hunched over. I will be seeing him till I die as the pain is always back in a short period of time. I cannot work out, dance or perform normal work activities due to the core of my backs deterioration. Brad Haddad

I was in Atlanta traveling on business when this nagging ingrown toenail started to really take a toll on me getting around. Dr. Schancupp was very knowledgeable, the procedure was painless, the price was right, and the office staff was very friendly. I highly recommend him for anyone in the Marietta/Roswell area in need of a fantastic Podiatrist!
