I can finally write a review for here since I’ve gotten more then just cleaning services (my sister is a hygienist here that’s why i can’t write about it)
But I just got a chipped tooth bonded by Dr. Mendocha. I first had to go a few weeks prior to get my teeth whitened, I was originally going to get the whitening procedure, where I guess they laser the teeth, but I was told my teeth weren’t stained enough for it and that I should do the Zoom whitening trays, which the cheaper option as well. Score! So I took impressions for trays, they came in the next week, and the two weeks after that I followed the instructions for whiter teeth, and yeah it worked. Then I had my tooth bonded which was such an interesting thing to get done. Dr. Mendocha explained that if my tooth was chipped more, it would be better. The small the chip whatever materials they use to bond doesn’t hold as well. So she did warn me that bondings on smaller chips don’t last as long as bondings on bigger chips. Capisce?
Still, after getting it done I just about snapchatted or pointed out to all my loved ones about my new smile. It was fun to show it off. I’m still not entirely over it.
The office is rather large and they do have Wifi! I’ve never had to wait long for an appointment either, and I know that’s not always the case for everyone, but they have a great track record for me. Oh, and they have MASSAGE chairs. So tell yourself, if you’re afraid of the dentist… are you afraid of massage chairs? No! So going snag yourself a clean bill of oral health, no excuses!

I have been going to Dr. Sheehan for years, maybe 15? I originally went to him for a second opinion because I went to a new dentist from a dental plan, concerned about sensitivity of a tooth. That dentist told me he wasn’t sure, that «it could be a root canal, or it could be gum disease». What? It could be? I knew that I have had a history of good teeth and found this to be suspect. I was referred to Dr. Sheehan and went for my second opinion about that tooth. He was, and always consistently is, the sweetest and most gentle dentist. He took an x-​ray, checked the tooth, and told me that, «there is nothing at all wrong with your tooth. The gum just receded a bit, it will feel better in a few days. Here is some fluoride to rub on it in the meantime». He could have done all kinds of unnecessary work on me and made lots of money. But, that is not Dr. Sheehan. He is honest to the core. He has since been the only dentist I will let touch me, because I trust him and he is, quite simply the best. Today I had my first cavity in about 20 years, and it was painless, quick, gentle, and with a perfect result. I am so pleased, I just adore this Doctor! And his demeanor just makes everything even more pleasant. The ladies in the office are lovely, too! Bonus!

After reading Unilocal reviews I made an appointment for a cleaning in advance of teeth whitening. I was given an 11:00am appointment but was asked to arrive 15 mins early to complete forms, as I was a new Patient. I arrived 22 mins early and began filling in the forms.
I don’t know why a dentist has to know my SS#, but I on the forms I was asked for it twice — I might have noted: None of your business, but I don’t think I bothered. I probably left it blank. I turned in the paperwork at 10:52am. And then I waited.
I have a 15-​minute wait policy but, to be fair, I did not start timing until 11 o’clock. I could hear lots of chatting down the hallway where the dentist and the hygienists work, and I could detect that a pizza had just been delivered… but when the 15 minutes were up and no one had had the courtesy to pop in and apologize for keeping me waiting, or to let me know how much longer I’d be ignored, I was done.
I told the receptionist that I was canceling my appointment, and I told her about my 15-​min wait policy. I was not given any apology; the kind lady at the desk started to say that the hygienist was on her way (I don’t know how she would have known that) but I said, Too late, I’m leaving.
My time is important. And when I am hiring people (for hundreds of dollars) to perform a service, I expect to be treated with courtesy, and that includes BEING ON TIME.
I gave North Shore Comprehensive a chance. They failed.
P. S. Five days later I received a call from a squeaky-​voiced admin who took pains to tell me that golly, it was very unusual that Stephanie wasn’t on time, and that there must have been a mis-​communication, etc etc. Hmmmm… trying to hold me accountable for my part in the «mis-​communication»? That’s not going to work.
Noticeably absent was any form of apology, any attempt to make amends. I hung up on the squeaker even more annoyed. That’s when I decided to do my first Unilocal review.
There are plenty of dentists on Long Island. You don’t have to settle for a practice that has not instilled in its staff a sense of professionalism. Look for one that SHOWS UP ON TIME.

So this review is going to be based on my Zoom whitening experience.
A little background on myself i decided to do the zoom because my front tooth that i had repaired years ago started to rechip. Before getting my chip replaced i needed to whiten the surrounding teeth because the new bonding/​composite material will NOT change when you whiten.
Overall my teeth are sensitive on a scale lf 1 – 10 it is a 4.5. Usually to cold bc of my younger years of brushing too hard. Therefore before the zoom i used sensistive tooth paste to help block the pores on the teeth in hopes that during the Zoom it will not be as sensitive.
Dental assistant Stacy. Explained everything as she was about to do it in preparation on the Zoom. This process takes a little while because they need to put this fun blue thing to help keep the lips retracted. It was not uncomfortable as it may look it. They need to isolate all the gingival (gum) tissue because the light can irritate the gums and become sensistive. But Stacy made sure all the areas are covered!
Before the light goes on she applies the whitening gel that gets activated by the light. I was able to complete 3 cycles of the whitening. Each cycle lasts 15 minutes. After 15 minutes Stacy removes the left over gel and reapplies more gel, light and repeat.
During the last session my teeth did start to become sensitive. Stacy doesnt stay in the room the whole time but she does come in frequently to see how i am doing. When i told her where the sensitivity is she bulked out the dam material to cover the gum sensitive areas. That helped.
Towards the last few minutes of the Zoom the sensitivity was becoming a little more than i can handle. Now i am aware of this. This is common when whitening because when you whiten you open the pores on the teeth so they will be sensitive. The sensitivty was throbbing and once it was finished it felt like jolts of sporatic sparks! It was annoying but worth it.
Stacy used some fluroide varnish to help alleviate the sensitivity it helped a little but she stated that by late tonight, tomorrow it will be back to normal.
After whitening i was given instructions to eat white foods… Pasta with cheese., cauliflower, white rice. For the next 24 –36 hours. This is because the pores on the teeth are open and if you have anything with color it will stain the teeth.
The next morning the sensitivity subsided 85% and was much bearable. This was the first time i whitened.
In addition to the in office treatment i was also given take home trays (custom made) with touch up gel to use. Now it does vary as to how long the whitening will last. It depends on a few factors diet, habits such as smoking will bring back yellow real fast thank goodness i dont do that. Drinking coffee or tea (tea im notorious for. Not coffee).
The price for the zoom with custom trays is $ 550! Pretty good deal because you also get take home material.
Now to avoid drinking dark foods to stain and yellowing doesnt come back.

The female hygenist Stephanie did an excellant job cleaning my teeth. I was there for an hr which she cleaned my teeth, measured my gums, took x-​rays of my teeth. This was the best cleaning i had ever received. My normal dentist took 15 mints. Great office as well.
