Real Italian food, as soon as you sit on tables, they start serving amuse bouche. Best pasta in LI Wine list and serving is so so, this is only downside On friday, there are live music going on, which is my favorite dining experience

Gold Coast Tarnished – Went to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday on Saturday night and walked away disappointed. We were ushered into an extraordinarily dark dining room. The décor may or may not have been appealing but it was difficult to judge given how dark the room was. Why should one be forced to use a flashlight app to read the menu? The tables were small and cramped. Before we began to look at the wine list(while still looking for our flashlights) the head waiter brought a bottle he recommended –the price $ 105(we settled for an $ 85 bottle). This was a harbinger of what was to come. The noise level made communication rather difficult. The waiters were yelling at each other, but that was before the music began to drown them out(along with conversation). We believe you get what you pay for. We paid but did not get our hoped for experience. Previous reviews said you had to pay for quality and we agree but that is not the take away experience we had. We did not expect(or seek bargain prices), just good quality and a memorable celebration – instead we got above average food at exorbitant prices.

I frequent this restaurant because it is so amazing but last night was a terrible experience. Go every year around V– day but never on the exact vday cuz I don’t want a prefix menu I want choose whatever I like. Sit down and it’s prefix. Never told me on the phone n only way to see on website is to check event menu. Which I didn’t check — because who would know to do that. The menu options were pizzeria quality. Our table had 2 chicken Parma wit no pasta and 2 shrimp scampi. Chicken parm was great shrimp scampi was nothing special. The bill for 4 of us was $ 630. I repeat 630 dollars for cheese n tomato course, ravioli(which was delicious), chicken parm, and a chocolate covered strawberry. This was a $ 65 tasting menu at best not $ 130 per person. Normally the service here is unbelievable. Last night seemed like everyone was in a bad mood. Had to find waiter for more drinks, other waiter would not accommodate anything we asked for. After the dinner we told the hostess that they shouldve mentioned to us it was prefix menu when we made the reservation, left a voicemail to confirm or even when we called them back in the morning to confirm the reservation — no one said anything. we wouldn’t hav came. She said o we did on the phone. They never did. Then said we do this every year how do u not know. Which they don’t, they do it on vday not the day before ever cuz we go every year. In conclusion last night encounter really hurt my opinion of this place and wat they pulled yesterday took away the feeling that they care for the customers n want to put out the best quality. I Didn’t get wat I wanted, food wasn’t that Good, service was bad and it cost me $ 630 not including tip.

Il Mulino holds a very dear spot in my heart. This review is based on my experience from several years ago(I know talk about a late review). My then boyfriend(we are now married), asked that I meet him there for my birthday dinner. I was perplexed as to why he would ask me to meet him there instead of picking me up and going together. In any case I showed up for our reservation. The service from the minute we entered was something surreal, there were about 10 waiters/staff setting the table, pulling out my chair, putting a napkin on my lap, offering us a slice of fresh parm, some salumi. just wow. I was kind of overwhelmed as I don’t think I’ve never experienced anything like that before. My husband was equally as mezmerized by what was happening. We placed orders and while we waited my husband hands me a birthday card. I opened the card to read a sweet message, and what seemed to be a gift card. It was for 3 years of unlimited car washes, and on the back it said the color«black» under the car color, and the license plate number. Aside from the interesting choice for a gift, the only thing I found odd is that I had a dark blue car. So I pointed that out, and he states. «Oh darn, I’ll have to get that fixed.» We finished our delicious meal, thanked the staff profusely and got ready to leave. As I’m taking out my valet ticket, my husband stops me to say«no I want to leave first». I was just dumbfounded as to wth was going on. He runs out, so I follow him and meet him in the valet, only to see a brand new car with a red bow being pulled up, and my husband turns around and says. «HAPPYBIRTHDAY babe!». apparently the staff were in on the surprise and were standing behind me clapping! I was so completely surprised! In hindsight, I recalled the staff stealing glances and smiling oddly at me throughout the night, but I thought that was the norm for them. But who would’ve thought. Best birthday ever, at the best restaurant ever, with the best boyfriend – now husband ever! I will definitely have to eat there again!

The striped bass was delicious. It was perfectly portioned and was bathed in a tomato broth which I couldn’t stop dipping my bread into. The service was impeccable and wait staff friendly. The ravioli covered in a truffle cream sauce was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend trying Il Mulino.

For starters, the food was so good. Truly delicious. That said, the place is so dark, there was no way that bread the menu without my flashlight app. I mean DARK. Unnecessarily so. Also, when we came in, I was waiting and waiting for the menu. It took forever… not because they were ignoring us, but they were bringing complimentary appetizers.(There was toast in the bread basket that was so great it would qualify almost by itself as a reason to go. BUT the marinated zukini were cold, greasy, mushy and tasteless.) whether or not appetizers were free, I wanted my menu. Wanted to peruse and think things over. Menu finally came. I’m vegan so ordered spinach salad(no cheese, no bacon), and potatoes alla salvia. This spinach salad was the BEST I EVERHAD. They hovered a little. Some people like the attention. I don’t. It’s ok. But my biggest complaint was 1) DARK, and 2) too many visits from waiters…

The service is impeccable! The night started with a wheel of fresh Parmesan and it only got better from there. It finished with fresh berries and zabaglione. The room is a bit dark which makes menu reading difficult, but that is the only criticism.

This was a Dinner group of 10, service was very attentive and polite. Appetizer I had was a special, stuffed Zucchini Flower, one of my favorites. It was good, stuffed with gorgonzola cheese, a bit overpowering though. For my main I had Chicken Parmesan, figuring in a high class Italian restaurant it should be great. I could not have been more disappointed! The presentation was fantastic, but there was NOFLAVOR! I could not believe each bite I was waiting for it to get better, and it never did. I asked for extra sauce, it was FLAVORLESS! I didn’t even eat half, and I always finish. This is basic Italian comfort food, if you can’t get this right then I question the ingredients you’re using. Overall the meal was very disappointing.

a Nice Italian Restaurant with RUDE Loud Waiters. They sat us right by the Kitchen door and where all the waiters hang out, walks in and out passing by us(plates, silverware, etc). As what my BF says is a mood killer. and on TOP of that, they were talking in Spanish and pretty loud(i understood EVEYRYTHING). But that didn’t stop us, we came to have a nice romantic dinner, so as soon as we sat down Waiters brought For appetizers, there was an aged cheese, salami, fungi and rustic bread and water. Couple of minutes later after Trying the small finger food, the waiter came to introduce the Specials that was not in the menu, then gave us couple of minutes to decide. I ordered : Pollo Alla Sarpariello Chicken sauteed in garlic, wine and mushrooms. I was dissapointed, the dish looked so bland and simple, chicken did not WOW me and dry, Mushrooms were Yummy but not what its worth it. Boyfriend had the Snapper with Spicy tomato sauce, His plate was better than mine and tastier, but also not worth for the price. Also ordered a bottle of wine, a bit overprice but I guess that’s what Restaurants do. Dessert I enjoyed a lot of the Panna Cotta. I don’t think i’ll come back again. Rather spend the same amount of money at a Steakhouse.

The ultimate dining experience on Long Island! I called Wednesday to make a reservation for a graduation dinner. Open table didn’t show any availabilities. I explained it was a graduation dinner & they were happy to reserve a table for me! It was pouring rain & was happy to be greeted by a valet with an umbrella in the parking lot. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Within minutes of being seated we were given complimentary salami, Parmesan cheese, bruschetta with mussel, & marinated zucchini. Everything was spectacular! The wait staff hovers over you the whole time you are seated. Replenishing wine & water, folding napkins, etc. For apps we ordered figs stuffed with goat cheese & squash blossoms stuffed with gorgonzola cheese. The flavor was so distinct & unique in each appetizer! I ordered the lobster ravioli in all a vodka sauce for my entrée. The ravioli’s were stuffed with lobster! They tasted so fresh & delicious! To top it off I had the napoleon for dessert. What a finale! The flaky layers were so soft & delicate. I haven’t left a restaurant so happy in so long! A little pricey but worth it to me for a fine dining experience!

Very very expensive. Dark interior, you’ll struggle just to read the menu. «Someone please put the fuckin lights on so I can see me food » .Very very salty and when the bill comes, there is spot to tip the waiter, the captain, the chef etc., ok not the chef but you get the point $ 100 a person easily and the food isn’t bad

I went there with my husband for my B-day dinner the other night. The place is beautiful… great ambience, great service. The food is mediocre to poor for the price. As soon as you sit down, they start bringing you tons of cheap appetizers(this is how they get you full– because the entrees are so small) we ordered shrimp cocktail– they were warm and a bit fishy. We also got baked clams– which were cockles. Literally the size of quarter each with a bit of bread crumbs sprinkled on top… the audacity that they would even do that in such a place… is appalling. I actually laughed in disbelief when they came to the table with those little tiny clams. I got the fruite de marre in a white wine sauce, it was bland and a tiny portion with small shrimp, and tiny little scallops and huge calamari rings. My husband ordered a veal chop that was pretty good– but– again– it was tiny and had 3 little potatoes under it with nothing else on the side, for $ 300 you’d expect a bit more for your buck. They definitely fill you up with all this bread, cheese and greasy«garlic bread»(which were 3 little crustini in unsalted butter, garlic and red pepper) BEFORE you get your main course… this is so you leave feeling satisfied, a great restaurant trick. The napoleon for dessert was great. There’s way better Italian restaurants to go to on Long Island. This place is like all about the $how. Nice place, good service, food presented well BUT low quality food and I’m sure they need to pay rent being where it’s located. I won’t be returning.

Beware!!! The Roslyn location valet parking is running a theft ring. My husband had something very valuable stolen then 3 weeks later same thing happens to my sisters mother I’m law!!! Worst part is the lack of responsibility and ownership on managements part. Filed a police report will be contacting better business bureau– the food was good but I feel I must get it out there so this does not happen to another unsuspecting customer. Will never step foot there again and tell everyone I know about our experience. Stay away!!! And ill Mulino if you’re reading this why don’t you own up to what your valet parking guys are doing stealing peoples personal possessions!!! Despicable! ,

I would probably have given it one more stars if it weren’t for the hype. I am a big fan of fine dining and to me this is just another good Italian restaurant, same old. Great service and great bar, but the food is regular, nothing spectacular, so for the price you may be over-paying.

Classic Italian food. What I love most about Il Mulino is that you always know what to expect when you go there. Staff is always superb and accommodating — food always leaves me wanting more and nothing changes, which for me is something I look for in a restaurant. Suggestion– try the veal parm, you’ll be glad you did.

A MUST try for anyone willing to spend a bit of money for some amazing italian food. Like another user stated, when you’re seated you will be greeted with bruschetta, mussels, garlic bread, regular bread, fresh slices of Parmesan cheese, and fried zucchini. All of them are amazing and actually almost fill you up to start. That should not stop you from getting a 3 course meal though. My father and I have tried the sunset menu special and have ordered off the regular menu. The sunset menu was definitely worth every penny and was a great deal. However, I can’t rave enough about the full priced menu. My father took me here to celebrate a job offer and he wanted to give me the full experience. We split a portion of linguini with seafood, which was AMAZING. This was followed by two absolutely mind blowing veal dishes. The osobuco is seriously the most amazing one I’ve ever had. It really did melt right in your mouth. The veal chop did the same. They were truly unbelievable. After being so stuffed, I couldn’t imagine a dessert, but my father insisted we try the Italian cheesecake, and I ate my half with no hesitation. The food and service were truly exquisite. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Still one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to. Upon being seated, expect to try bruschetta, mussels, garlic bread, regular bread, fresh slices of Parmesan cheese, and fried zucchini. You are treated like a member of the Il Mulino family and god forbid you leave the least bit hungry! Also tried the gnocchi, calamari, Caesar salad, and scarpariello. Each better than the previous dish.
