No one deserves to have to shop in a store this dismal. Lowest quality food, storage, sanitation, smells. Go to the Americas Food Basket on Hyde Park Ave. for low prices in a decent grocery store.

Some of the processed stuff is pretty nasty, but for regular ingredients — fresh veg, flour, rice, butter… canned food and round-the-house stuff like detergent, these guys are great. They always have a good selection, the quality is decent and the price is right.

This place doesn’t have the greatest selection of fruits and vegetables but they have a pretty good selection of diary products and frozen vegetables. Their bread selection is not bad too. I like to get what I need from here(e.g. plantains, cilantro, bananas, onions, potatoes, carrots, and chayote) and then scoot over to Baby Nat’s if I need more produce. Save a lot also has dirt cheap processed stuff, like O’Day’s mac & cheese for about 50 cents a box. It’s pretty much like Kraft, unless you’re some kind of mac & cheese connoisseur. I tried the generic brownie mix that comes in a bag and it passed the room mate test. I also appreciate the fact that they sell goat meat at this place. You can’t find that at Stop & Shop. Like another reviewer said, weekdays are good and so are weekend evenings(after 4 p.m.), for avoiding the crowds. I scooted to this place in this video:

Dirt cheap but you get what you pay for. Nearly spoiled meat and vegetables and super generic versions of everything else you’d find in a grocery store — with the extra MSG and high fructose corn syrup to prove it. Their X brand is, like, sub-X brand. I knew something was wrong when I tried their«Señora Verde» house brand tortilla chips. How could you possibly fuck up tortilla chips? Corn, oil, salt, not much else goes into them. But no. Señora Verde somehow found a way to create a truly inedible tortilla chip. Apparently there is such a thing as too many preservatives. If your body is accustomed to consuming non-nutrient garbage, this is your place. At Save-A-Lot you can do so on a budget. But don’t forget your eco-tote!(WTF kind of grocery store makes you pay for bags?!) Thanks but no thanks. Even if you’re poor, you can still shop smarter than Save-A-Lot.

I love this place. if it wasnt for this place we would be overspending for a lot of the same foods at another supermarket. the only issue i have with this place is that this place can be a mad house full of people and getting in out the parking lot takes patience and skill but other then that this is a great place.

If you wanna get in and out go early in the morning during the week. Never on the weekend because the lines get long. The prices are decent for the food that your getting. I would suggest not getting fruit or meat from there but other things.
