Great selection of hides, decent sections for starter kits, leather working books, and array for leather coloring– both paint-on’s and leather dyes. Excellent customer service! The staff there were very friendly and helpful. They helped me pick out colors for a masquerade mask that I wanted to make, and suggested that I use leathers from the«scrap leather» bag($ 10) that would prove cheaper than the original mask kit($ 15) that I’d picked out. They also have membership discounts. Also, a friend and I had visited Tandy Leather the previous day, and they were nice enough to stay open a few minutes past 6PM when my friend called to say he was a few minutes away. While I did not get to experience their leather working classes firsthand(held on Saturday mornings), my friend did mention that they are quite good. They also mentioned that they have a masquerade-mask making class in October. Will likely visit again in the future, when I return to Minnesota.

I went in there because I am teaching myself how to make leather bull whips. I started learning with para cord to get the knitting and beading techniques down. I wanted to make my first leather item and accidentally purchased suede instead. Bad idea way too soft. I can back to get the correct and though they were friendly and help full at first. There was a condensing tone in his voice. I will go back because it’s the only leather hide store that I know of. If I found another one I would go there based on this interaction.
