Rose Car Care

Rented a uhaul truck from this place, went to the shop 15 minutes early. Guy never showed up at 8 to give us the keys. Waited about an hour and still no one showed up. Eventually got a truck from a different place.
Called the shop later, guy didn’t seem to care much about the poor service. Bad business. Would never recommend.

Javier has now also achieved the seemingly impossible and fixed my air conditioning (for far less than I thought it would cost). I’ve had this car since 2006, and for six years the a/​c has never worked. Other mechanics have told me that both the heater core and a/​c core themselves are faulty (the heat doesn’t really work either). Because of where they are in my car and the amount of time/​labor it would have been required to replace them, I did not consider it worth it to pay to have the cores ripped out and replaced, especially on a 10-​year-​old car. At one point I thought maybe the freon was leaking, but that wasn’t the problem either.
But oddly enough, in the years when the a/​c was broken, it occasionally did work, for brief, fleeting, heartbreaking little blips of cool relief. Then hot air would start streaming out of the vents again. Last summer, when we had that stretch of 100-​degree weather for a couple of weeks in July, my son and I would just sit in bumper-​to-​bumper traffic on 94 with the sun beating down on us and the open windows achieving nothing (except raising the noise level), hoping for one of the blips when the a/​c would choose to turn on. The poor kid would get home, chug half a gallon of water, and lie under and air conditioning vent for 15 minutes. I think we both had a little heat stroke.
Anyway, after spending a couple of days poking around, Javier discovered that the problem with the a/​c was not the core, but the air conditioning compressor and the clutch cycling switch. This explained why it was working some of the time and not others.
Since he fixed it (a few weeks ago) I have been reveling in the luxury of ice-​cold air pouring from my a/​c vents on hot days with the windows firmly shut. I’ll never take air conditioning for granted!

After the debacle that was my attempt to get an oil change at Tires Plus on Monday, I decided to try Rose Car Care. My hubby got an oil change here a few weeks ago and had a good experience, so I thought I would give it a shot.
The positives:
— 25 minutes for an oil change! Finally some place that doesn’t take an hour to change oil
— Friendly service
— Coupon for a $ 15 oil change
The negatives:
— Small waiting area that smells strongly of gasoline (but there is a Caribou across the street so I waited there)
All in all, I was happy with my experience and will be back to Rose Car Care for my next oil change.
