House of Oliver

This place is amazing. Not only is the service great but the wine list is awesome too. Mathew provides entertainment beyond expectations and is as nice as they come.
Great place for a girls night out and happy hour after work.
We’ll definitely be back!

House of Oliver is a fantastic wine lounge & restaurant. Matthew & Kyle make every experience enjoyable along with the great staff and classy environment. They have a ever changing menu with fabulous wines, beer and small plates (tapas). House of Oliver is one of a kind and comes highly recommended!

I went to this wine bar at a friend’s recommendation with a few of my girlfriends and we would DEFINITELY go back. Matthew was Amazing and hospitable. Mondays the wine bar has wine tasting by different vineyards. This Monday they had Rombauer winery bring their wines out. There were 4 wines available for tasting for $ 5. I wasn’t impressed with the Merlot at the tasting and Matthew took it upon himself to find me a Merlot that would match my criteria and i came back smiling. I finally found a Merlot I like. The cheese platter was amazing, some from our party ordered their grilled cheese sandwich with soup, and others ordered the cheese board. Great variety to choose from. I would definitely go back again!!!

Arrived with a reservation on a Monday night with 2 of my girlfriends — it was very busy and the rezzie before us was not quite finished so we sat at the bar. Mike was very welcoming and provided excellent service. We had a delicious meat and cheese board, olives, a grilled cheese and also some tomato soup. The nut crusted brie was the best thing we ordered but I enjoyed every bit of food and our Frank Family wine also. Once a table opened up, Mike made our move effortless. We met Kyle later, and he offered us a dessert menu, he brought us out some pomegranate cheesecake and that was also delicious. I cannot wait to go back to this place when it is warm and sit on the patio and sip wine.

This place is special. It’s not about the food even though Chef Colin and his crew make it delicious, and It’s not about the wine although the selection is vast and affordable. This place is about relationship in community with others. It gives the feeling of a true commonwealth in the area inside a lounge atmosphere. Come in, relax, bring old friend, and meet new ones.

Staff is very good here, very attentive. Crowd can vary, but the business has no control over that. Didn’t eat, but drink service at a table was very good.

Great Wine bar, but not a restaurant or food place. Good to socialize but watch the wine prices. We had four glasses and paid over $ 100 with tip. Staff is very friendly. Food is not what I would go there for, I don’t think that they have a kitchen, it’s mainly cold or Sandwiches.
Not sure if we return, just for the atmosphere or one glass of vino unless they have better prices. To sum it all up.
Good atmosphere.
Not a dining place.
Wines are way overpriced.
Friendly Staff

Place was packed for a Tuesday evening but everyone loves a good Happy Hour, so I understand. Our server made things happen with seating so it ultimately worked out (after three different location hops). To better explain, people were trickling into our party so in the beginning when it started out as just two of us, the itty bitty two top ‘worked’. When one more arrived, we were moved temporarily to the (reserved) lounge chairs and ultimately ended up at the long table when all five of us were there.
Service was awesome. Wine was fantastic (I had Colossus Cabernet) and the food was delicious. Thai meatballs on top of aioli and a steak bruschetta dealio. Yum.
Recommend? Yes. Especially if you love wine.
Do yourself a favor and make a reservation though!

Mac n cheese was parm and mushrooms and was oh so good! Tomato soup amd grilled cheese was tasty as well. Salmon and cream cheese bruschetta, also very good. Very cute and warm little place. Great wine selections. Very expensive. I found it funny that the vibe and prices were high end and professional but the staff was the opposite. Not warm or friendly. Her name was liz. Her back was to her customers the whole time, she did not smile once. She was not busy either. She was not rude at all, and she was pretty attentive, but this could have been a 5 star experience had the staff been more into their jobs. The kitchen staff could have looked a bit more professional as well. I will be back but am hoping to catch a different crowd of employees…

We decided to spend a rare couple of hours away from the kids enjoying some wine and dinner at House of Oliver, which we chose based on the reviews. I made a reservation, and when we arrived we were promptly seated in a corner table for two. The table was tiny and round, and the stools faced into the corner and window curtains. It felt almost like we were intruding, because we had to turn completely around just to get a glimpse of the décor, crowd and the remainder of the restaurant. But if the food was better, the seating would’ve almost been moot.
We ordered the Boomer flight of red wines, which was supposed to consist of 3 wines: Petite Petit from Lodi, a Shiraz from Australia and a wine from Spain. Each glass was identified by a nice information card discussing the wine within it, but two of our wines had the same information card (Lodi). It appeared we were missing one of the three wines (the one listed as the most expensive of the three on the menu), and when we brought this to the waiter’s attention, he said it was just a mistake with the identification cards. Without having to check with anyone, he said we actually received three different wines — it was just that the cards were wrong. No polite apology and no notice of this when he initially brought the wine. If he knew this without having to check with anyone, I’m not sure why he didn’t tell us this up front.
We ordered paninis — one steak (recommended by the waiter) and one grilled eggplant. The small salads accompanying the dish were tasty, but the paninis were WAY over salted. They were so salty it overpowered any other flavor. I’m not sure if we were just unlucky and caught the kitchen on a bad night, because I can’t imagine the extreme salting was something anyone would think was a good idea. As someone with high blood pressure, I was feeling the effects later that night.
The place was pretty busy and the lighting was minimal, which only bothered me when I was trying to read the menu at my dark, corner table. When I swiveled my head around to see my surroundings, it appeared many people were enjoying themselves with wine and cheese boards. That may be the way to go if you decide to visit House of Oliver.

First time here tonight, and I loved it. It’s a perfect wine bar. (Note: glass are between $ 9-​$ 23, there are mostly $ 12-​$ 15 glasses)
The wine selection is great. I did not have a bad glass. I will plan to come back and try the trio tasting.

Good eats, good music, good wine! They may have added it back to the menu, but the last time I went it wasn’t on there (but they let me order it anyway) the stuffed dates… omg, heaven in your mouth!
The ambience is nice (every time I’ve been there I have set inside, so I can’t really review patio seating). I went around 6 on a Saturday and it got really really crowded by 8. my friend and I decided to leave because a loud group was sat right behind us… no prob! I’m glad this place stays busy, I just make it a point to go early and leave early

I found this place using Unilocal and thought I would go check it out. When I first got there I sat at the bar closest to the entrance. Do to the fact that I’m not very wine savvy I was expecting the bartender working to be a little hands on with me and walk me through wine 101. Unfortunately the expectation I set was way too high but what I did get was a recommendation from the bartender for the brussels sprout salad which was awesome. The next recommendation I got was to have the pumpkin mousse for dessert which again was absolutely delicious. The funny thing to me was that I was hoping to learn about wine and what I got was good food recommendation. Later on in the evening when I was finished with my dessert and second glass of wine a very well-​dressed gentlemen sat down at the bar and it was evident to me he was somehow employed or involved with the wine bar. He was very kind and forthcoming with information about the establishment and his passion for working there was evident. So when the night finally ended (three glasses of wine later) I had to ask myself, did i learn anything at all about wines (NO) thank god i already knew how to order a glass of Merlot. Was the food absolutely incredible (YES)! Was the atmosphere, bartenders and floor staff all friendly (YES)! Will I be back (YES) would I recommend this place (YES)!

Girls night out to celebrate our beautiful friend’s birthday. It was our very first experience at the «House of Oliver». We came here during the Happy Hours but unfortunately we didn’t get the Happy Hours prices, was somewhat disappointed:(
At first we didn’t care for our waitress, she wasn’t very attentive, some of the dishes (bruschetta and panini) needed more flavoring. Our favorite dishes were Nut Crusted Brie and Brussels Sprouts Salad:-)
Then unexpectedly the owner, Kyle came to our table and greeted us, was very attentive and interested to learn our first experience there, told us the history of his business adventure with his brother started August 2014. He was very personable with his kind gesture to our birthday girl. A free glass of wine and a piece of nice cheesecake on the house. He made a very memorable experience for all of us! Thank you Kyle, you saved the day‼

The new fall menu at House of Oliver is AMAZING!
Definitely the best menu yet and I have been coming here for over a year now. My wife and I had the $ 49 dinner for 2 and when combined with live jazz piano on Wednesday night, this place is hard to beat. When you come here, you MUST try the brussel sprout salad! I have ordered it 3 times in 10 days. It is sooo good!

This area desperately needed a place like House of Oliver. Oliver always seems to be there making the rounds. It’s unique and the live jazz music is lovely. I always have a wine flight when I go. They are reasonably priced at around $ 14.
The wines are unique and the appetizers are tasty. Very classy.
We came with a group of 3 couples and made reservations. The only reason I took off a star is they had a back to school special going on where if you made a reservation with a group of 4 or more during certain hours (which we did) you get 20% off. We had known about it but at the end of a long night of wine and three separate credit cards later, we didn’t look over the bill carefully enough. We were not given the discount. Being that we found this out a week later and paid with 3 separate credit cards we didn’t try fixing it. This was upsetting because the deal on facebook did not mention «please mention this to get the deal». We should have been told about it again and given the discount. That’s my only knock on them.

I came here with a couple of girlfriends for some wine and eats on a Thursday evening. We sat outside, which was great — love the outdoor area that’s offered. The wine selection was great (Frank Family Zin — YUM!) and the food was incredible! We got the peach bruschetta (interesting mix of flavors), the nut-​crusted brie (has a kick, so definitely for the spice-​lovers), and the mac and cheese (phenomenal!). The service was wonderful too :)
I am sure I’ll be returning soon!

The atmosphere at House Of Oliver never disappoints. Even on a Tuesday night the vibe is good, the selection is top notch and the service is fantastic.
Have been coming here since shortly after they opened and would highly recommend this spot to anyone that may not yet have enjoyed a wine flight with some amazing bruschetta or my personal favorite, the Choripan. Check it out!

Came here for my friends birthday this past saturday. I ordered the banh mi slider which was two small sliders but were very good with a side salad on the side. I’m not big on salad so I had maybe a bite of it but it was decent.
I didn’t drink any wine but I ordered some tasty beers they had from the suggestion of the bartender who provided grade A service!

We have been here a few times. Once on a Friday night Around 7 – 10 and again on a Thursday from 6 – 8. I would recommend a Thursday as this place gets crazy busy and it only seems to get busier as the night goes on. Thursday was much more enjoyable then Friday in terms of less of a crowd.
Both experiences were good ones. The live jazz sets the mood for a wonderful relaxed evening. The wine list is long and includes lots of great California wine from Amador, Napa, Grass Valley and the like.
The staff is very friendly and the owners make their rounds through out the night to introduce themselves and make sure you are all set.
The downsides:
The parking, it’s busy and there isn’t enough, they do have valet and sometimes it is even free.
Sometimes with the large crowd it can take some time to get your food out.
The menu is limited. As a wine bar the selection is great but be sure you know it is more on the wine bar side then the restaurant side. With that said the owners are completely cool about you bringing in food from the neighboring restaurants.
I have tried their meat, cheese & chocolate platters and they were all a good size and excellent quality.
Lastly, while they have some solid bottled beer options there are none on draft.
Otherwise in terms of wine, this is the place to be. Great wine, live jazz and friendly staff make for a relaxing way to end your night.
