Texana Center is a 501©3 public, not for profit organization that provides behavioral healthcare and intellectual & developmental disabilities services to residents of a six county area that includes Austin, Colorado, Fort Bend, Matagorda, Waller and Wharton Counties and covers about 6,000 square miles. With over 43 different locations Texana, provides a safety net to over 740,000 citizens and serves over 12,000 clients each year, including over 1000 children who need our care. Among our many signature programs is the Texana Children’s Center for Autism, which is a nationally recognized program that uses applied behavior analysis treatment for children with autism.

Texana Center is the Local Mental Health Authority (LMHA) for the six counties above. As the LMHA, Texana Center plans, coordinates, administers or supervises services to ensure the provision of community-​based mental health services for patients and their families.

History

Established in 1999.

Texana Center began operations on September 1, 1999, following a merger of two other healthcare organizations as defined by the Texas State Legislation. Texana Center has its headquarters in Rosenberg in Fort Bend County, which is one of the fastest growing counties in the nation.
