Since 1962, the Ballet De Sally Savedra seeks to celebrate dance in many unique stylings. The company specializes in creating and choreographing rich, dynamic Mexican Folklorico and Classical Spanish dances. They instruct students ranging from 3 years of age on to adults. Since we believe dance is a celebration, we invite all ages and levels to participate. The Ballet De Sally Savedra wishes to instill a sense of multicultural awareness in their students through dance and music. They inspire pride and passion in their dancers and in their audiences, while preserving culture, traditions and history to endure through generations and into the future.
History
Established in 1962.
The Ballet de Sally Savedra began in 1962 by Sally Savedra in Rosemead, California. As the group grew, Sally sought various teaching locations and began performing in neighborhood shows, parades, and festivals. Through gaining recognition, the company earned a contract for weekly performances at Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain. Then, the Ballet de Sally Savedra made a great leap forward when they were invited to perform in 1969 for the then president, Richard Nixon. The company then performed at a fundraiser for Sickle Cell Anemia. They performed alongside with such legends as Carol, Burnett, Ray Charles, and Sammy Davis Jr. at The Cocoanut Grove in Los Angeles. Sally’s company performed at the Rose Bowl’s Fourth of July International Celebration where they represented Spain and Mexico. She also guided her company through appearances at The LA County Fair, Disneyland, and a weekly contract at the Santa Anita Race Track, helping to make this company what it is today!

The Ballet de Sally Savedra was established by Sally Savedra in 1962 in Rosemead, California. Her Love of dance began as a young child. She received training in Ballet, Tap, and Ballet Folklorico in Downtown Los Angeles. She also studied classical Spanish dance under the instruction of Rita Hayworth’s father and famous dancer, Eduardo Cansino from the Dancing Cansino’s. Through years of hard work and determination, Sally progressed to establish the Ballet de Sally Savedra, She began by teaching in her backyard, providing lessons out of her garage to only eight students. As the group began to grow, so did the groups reputation. As always, The Ballet de Sally Savedra provides many opportunities for her students to showcase their talents and love for their heritage. Believing dance is a celebration, they wish to inspire passion and pride in their dancers and in their audiences, while preserving culture, history, and traditions to endure through generations and into the future!
