I called in a panic because my AC wasn’t working… it was blowing warm air. Jim came out the same day that I called for service which was great. They even had a coupon online for first time customers that I was able to use. They charge $ 69.95 to come out and diagnose the problem; however the coupon can only be applied if you have them do the repair. It turns out I was low 2 pounds of freon. I was very surprised that the cost per pound of freon R-​22 that RJS charges is $ 150.00 (per pound)!! This seems very high to me. It cost me $ 300 for 2 pounds plus the diagnostic charge and the labor. Price seemed a bit steep so I called Jamie who works in the office and told her my concern. She was very pleasant and said she would talk to the owner, Scott to see if there was anything that could be done with the price. I then called a couple other places to see what they charge for freon R-​22 and it was considerably less. I told this to Jamie and they did lower the cost to $ 125 per pound. I still think that is very high so if you think you need freon R-​22 for your AC you may want to shop around for the price. Other than that, the service was very good.

This is a great local business that we have had a very good experience for heating and a/​c. We had a ‘boom’ with our old furnace a few years back and the owner came out and gave us an ‘ok’ on our furnace. We eventually purchased a new furnace through RJS along with a new a/​c unit. The furnace worked great over the winter. When my husband had a question about the fan, we were able to call RJS and they came right over to look into the issue. When the spring came, the A/​C was not working. Again, quick service with a phone call and tech coming over to take care of the issue — breaker was tripped. Now we are cool and happy. This is my neighborhood heating and cooling place!

My wife and I recently moved to roselle. We called RJS to get a quote on moving a gas line over in our house. On a very busy Saturday Scott was able to give us the time to give us a quote the same day we called. From start to finish Scott and his two techs were polite and efficient. Quality customer service is important in my book and they gave excellent service. RJS will be my service provider for my hearing and cooling needs.

A little over a month ago, my heat went out in the middle of the night. I called RJS first thing in the morning. A technician came out within an hour. The technician replaced my boiler pump and had my heat running in no time! He also suggested that the reason why my three bedrooms were colder than the rest of the house was due to the way the carpet was installed up against the radiators. We just had our floors redone and his tip about the carpet was correct. I couldn’t be more impressed and satisfied with the level of service that we received. We plan on having RJS replace our boiler this fall as it is very old. Great customer service. Thank you RJS!

I called Scott on a frigid evening asking if he could come out to check out our home’s furnace. It was intermittently shutting off, and it was leaving my family freezing through many nights. Scott came within half an hour, and explained to me how he thinks through the diagnosis of the issue. He was even nice enough to check out our faulty sump pump, which he noticed on his own. Eventually, he left myself, my mother and my younger siblings with a cozy home and was willing to go well beyond what was required of
his service. Not to mention how kind he was on the pricing. He assured me that in spite of not having a father figure in the house, we told me to feel free to call him for advice on any home issue. I am thoroughly pleased that I chose RJ’s for my service, and look forward to calling him for service and maintenance visits.

RJS is the best hands down! My heater fan was making a super loud noise and about to break. They ordered the part and had it fixed by the next day. Jim was professional and courteous. I would recommend them a thousand times over!

Amazing and honest service without price gouging. We just moved into A new house and had a friend of the family Who was in the business perform some service on our heater. After doing basically nothing in leaving us with a terrible motor we ended up calling RJS as we had used them in the past. They immediately recognize the bad motor and replaced it within a few days. They also ended up charging us a little less than we were originally quoted which was very unexpected. From now on we will always use this company for our heating and air-​conditioning needs.

this is your warning: don’t use these guys at all! they lie, forget what they tell you and never get back to you! go elsewhere trust me.

I have used RJS Heating and Cooling as my preferred HVAC since 2005 for all of my heating and air conditioning needs: furnace, air conditioner, humidifier, electronic air cleaner, all installed and serviced by RJS. Mr. Pearlman (owner and lead technician) has always provided me prompt, professional, and courteous customer service (e.g. my air conditioner experienced a part’s malfunction on Labor Day. Mr. Pearlman came out, diagnosed the problem, and serviced the issue in under an hour after I made the service call). I would, without hesitation, recommend RJS Heating and Cooling for anyone seeking to install a new furnace, air conditioner, humidifier, electronic air cleaner, or simply for any HVAC maintenence issues.

October 6^th, 2015. I can’t say enough wonderful things about these guys! We have always used RJS for yearly maintenance and misc. issues so when it came time to replace our furnace and a/​c, there was no question about who we would call to do the job. Scott gave us a very reasonable estimate. We don’t have the easiest space to work in but the crew tackled it like it was no problem. The crew was on time, friendly, and extremely knowledgable. They answered all my questions and even gave me some great advice for monthly and yearly maintenance. I highly recommend RJS for your HVAC and water heater needs.

My AC stopped in late afternoon on September 02, 2015 in the heat of the day. I called RJS and Scott was out inside of two hours to repair the unit. The service provided was outstanding, timely and the cost was reasonable. I am a long time maintenance agreement customer.

Had them out last week to review my A/​C unit since it had gone out. We had another company out to diagnosed the problem and then decided they were going to charge $ 420 to replace a $ 30 part… Needless to say we told them to leave and called RJS as they are a certified Trane Tech/​Installer. Not only was the office staff polite and accommodating, they were able to get a tech at my house within hours. He was professional, courteous, and clean. He diagnosed the problem, and fixed some faulty wiring. Never needing to replace the part the original company was going to charge me for. This week my A/​C went out again and I called RJS back because it appeared to be a wiring issue. They arrived within an hour of my calling and found an additional wiring problem in a different area. They fixed it immediately, replaced the shorted fuse and reviewed the rest of the system for NO CHARGE. These guys have arrived promptly, courteous and beyond knowledgeable throughout the process, and have made won me over. If you have a Trane system, I would highly recommend them and their Tech’s.

Work done on April 18, 2015. Old hot water heater started leaking at 11:00am. Called Scott at RJS at 12:30 explained my problem. Scott said he’d have a crew out right away. Rob and Jim showed up as promised at 1pm. The removed and replaced my old hot water heater with a new Rheem.
Scott arrived a little bit later. While he was here, he noticed that my humidistat on the wall was installed crooked. I told Scott that i just had it replaced by another company about 6 months ago. Scott said, ‘let me get a screw driver and fix that for you’.
I found them to be professional and courteous (yes sir, no sir,). They did a great job, cleaned up before they left and… they fixed my humidistat. How many companies will go out of their way to do something like that.
I highly recommend RJS for any heating or cooling needs.

Contacted Scott thru Trane’s Website — from the minute he came in, I was extremely impressed. I had a few other shops out to provide estimates, and they gave me estimates on what I currently had. Scott suggested what would be more efficient than what I had, which is great, considering if you’re spending this kinda money, why not UPGRADE!
Staff showed up on time, and ready to work. Very clean, very professional, and just all around great guys. I felt the passion in each of their work ethic, this is not just a quick job, get it done, and out the door deal — these people want it done RIGHT!

I am a long time customer and let me tell you those guys service all my apartments with the same care as when they service my own home.
Jamie (Lady in the office) super helpful!!! Scott answers calls even during Holiday break. They know their business! They explain problems and what needs to be done. The price is more than fair for an outstanding service.
The reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is the fact that occasionally I have to deal with Jim who is a bit temperamental, but I forgive him.

Scott was extremely responsive on a Sunday after my furnace decided to give out.
He helped me trouble shoot but already new given the model (Nordyne), the board was bad.
Had the right board ordered and installed the next day.
Scott offered to bring space heaters to help us through the night which is way beyond what I thought any repair company would do!

RJS heating did a good job on my furnace but installed humidifier incorrectly. It stopped working in two weeks and cost me well over 400 to install a new one. Scott who is the owner said it was installed correctly but according April Aire website it was not installed correctly. Our air conditioner was discharged in winter and Scott told us there company would come out when weather gets warmer. They have not followed up to do so. I have called Scott three times and left two messages. He has not called me back and when he does pick up the phone he will say he would call back and never does.
I’m very disappointed with RJS service at the moment. I would highly recommend RJS service to my familly and friend.

Twice my furnace failed over weekend. On Friday evening replaced igniter. On Sunday morning replaced thermostat. Quick reliable service — will use again

This winter, man! This winter is a jerk. It’s so cold. Still, of course, I’m grateful that I live in a home with a perfectly functional heating system.
…until it wasn’t. Today, to be exact — today where the high was only supposed to be –6 F. That’s without windchill factors, which were supposed to make it feel like –40 F.
Today was my day off, and I had grand plans to just sit, knit, and Netflix. No going anywhere, staying cozy and comfy on the couch.
I’m glad I was home, because there was a pretty major gas leak going on with my furnace. When I followed the procedure that the furnace had listed to shut off and restart the thing, I couldn’t get it to come back on. I called RJS around 10am, and they promised to have a guy here between noon and 1.
Long story short, guy diagnosed and fixed the gas leak, then put the access panels back in place. Turns out that I hadn’t put the door back correctly after I reset it, so the safety switch that lets the furnace turn on wasn’t pushed in. Good thing, too, because HELLO GAS LEAK.
At any rate, all is good now, and the furnace is working well. All is warm and cozy, and Jim from RJS did a great job and answered all my questions. He’s been in the business a long time, and it shows.

The repairman who came to the house, Jim, had a bad temper, couldn’t follow instructions or directions, and refused to respect my requests.
1) The repairman incorrectly wired the system the first time he tried, so it took twice as long to finally get the thermostat repaired. I can understand a mistake, but he got angry with me instead of apologizing for his inability to wire it correctly the first time. He kept making excuses and blamed the thermostat.
2) He acted as though he lived at the house a) He unlocked the front door so it would make it easy for him to go back and forth. B) He insisted on going downstairs independently, even though I made it clear I wasn’t comfortable allowing a repairman to be downstairs (or anywhere else in the house) unsupervised.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this company.
They were extraordinarily discourteous when I called and asked for some kind of compensation for having to deal with the angry repairman who couldn’t follow directions.. They went so far as to lie and tell me that Te repairman couldn’t possibly be racist bc he was married to a black woman. I doubt it.

Scott was very professional and courteous. He has in-​depth knowledge of what was going wrong the first 5 minutes of troubleshooting. He did the maintenance and tune-​up to get me ready for the coming winter and summer. Good Job Scott and RJS HVAC!

Its quite a shame that this gem of a place does not have a single Unilocal review. Apparently they are super popular on Angie’s list and it would be helpful if RJS posted those links here.
So it all began last week when my furnace started to make some interesting noises this Monday. Being the total handyman that I (hint of sarcasm all over), I promptly turned off the furnace. Seems like the system was trying to light the furnace without any success.
I started doing my reading about furnaces and companies. Note to self, don’t use Unilocal for these types of issues. Little to no help is available on it.
I called Airtech out to take a look at it. They didn’t try to figure out the issue because apparently my heat exchanger was broken and hence they could not start it up. Loss of $ 65 there, but somehow the expectation that they had was I would be purchasing a furnace from them right away which I thought was annoying especially since the guy did not help.
After two days and five other vendors, enter Scott from RJS late night on Wed, who showed up to give us a quote but also managed to fix the furnace at no cost to us !! I was pretty impressed especially since he was the only guy among all the vendors that properly addressed each and every part that he was planning on install, the why and where he was going to install. More importantly, he was focused on the details of neatly wrapping and tidying up everything in the furnace, in areas where nobody would have noticed. That’s the kind of workmanship that I like and that definitely gathered big points in my book.
After doing a careful review and assessment of my options, I selected the Trane XV 80 for my place since I figured it was the most bang for my buck. Scott and his crew (Robert and mystery guy whose name i forget!!) got started in the basement and in a couple of hrs had everything in place, nice and neat. I now have a brand new furnace, a new humidifier and my ac/​humidifier outlets are in the same place. I have never been more happier with a job so neatly and meticulously done.
Definitely will recommend them to anybody. If anyone has further questions about the process to get a new furnace, feel free to pm this new minted furnace expert !!.
