Specialties

Cross country ski equipment, clothing, and service are our specialty, along with 19 km of wooded ski trails which we groom daily throughout the winter.

We offer ski lessons and rentals for both skating and classic skiing, as well as a full service day lodge and café, heated bathrooms, and a large parking lot. We are very family and beginner friendly, and we take the time to newbies how to put skis on and get up when they fall down.

We carry a huge selection of cross country skis, boots, poles, bindings, and clothing for men and women, as well as all around winter clothing from The North Face, Columbia, Patagonia, Under Armour, and other top brands.

We offer ski clinics and wax clinics throughout the season, and we also have a ski team which is open to the public to join.

We live and breath cross country skiing, and have done so for nearly 40 years. Come ski with us!

History

Established in 1974.

Founders Bob and Lynne Frye began Cross Country Ski Headquarters as a small, cross country ski rental operation out a snowmobile shed. Almost 40 years later, they have expanded multiple times and created a vast trail network, and the business is now one of the premier resources in the country for cross country skis, boots, poles, clothing, wax, and expertise. It is also a Pure Michigan destination for cross country skiing.

Bob and Lynne Frye started Cross Country Ski Headquarters to share their passion for skiing and the outdoors with others. They live in Higgins Lake, Michigan, and have four kids.
