Would like to do a shout out to Angela and thank her for another exceptional haircut. Angela is patient, friendly, soft spoken and highly skilled. Her cut and blow outs are awesome!!!

I’ve had three decent experiences at headcutters and one awful one. First of all, almost all of the stylists here are female and the ambiance is a little less misogynist, homophobic, and racist than all of the other barbers I’ve been to in Long Island. This is the main reason I go back to headcutters. The first three times I went to headcutters, I was served immediately, had a not great, but not bad haircut, and paid $ 11-$ 14. Basically just what was needed. However, this last time I went, I waited for 30 minutes, then I was told to sit in a stylists chair. I was in the middle of telling her how I wanted my hair cut when one of her regulars came in, she then sent me off to a different part of the shop to wait for a different stylist because she needed to serve her regular. So I then waited 15 more minutes until another stylist walked into the store. She wasn’t supposed to start for another half an hour, but the receptionist told her to cut my hair. So I sit down, apologize for making her start early, explain exactly how I want my hair cut, show a picture of an example of me with the haircut I want, and let her start cutting. She COMPLETELY ruined my hair. Instead of having a phohawk, she shaved off an entire side of my head all the way up to the top and then said that’s what I told her to do. Then she said, don’t worry, all the kids are wearing it this way these days. She then proceeded to brush the rest of my hair over the shaved portion to hide it and said, there doesn’t that look good. Worst haircut I’ve ever had. But I will probably still go back because they did a fine job the first three times and I can’t find another barber that isn’t racist, misogynist, and homophobic. These have been my experiences getting my hair cut in long island.

After reading the reviews on Unilocal and seeing that Head Cutters had nothing but good reviews, I decided to make an appointment to see for myself. I asked for Lana because she was highly recommended by my fellow Unilocalers. I walked in 10 minutes before my appointment just to get myself situated. Lana was working on another customer and you could tell she was very friendly and genuinely wanted to get to know her customers. She finished just on time and was ready for my appointment. When I walked into headcutters I had a certain hair style in mind so I explained to her what I wanted. I showed her pictures of the hair style(face framing layers on long hair), and she assured me that she knew exactly what I wanted. So I trusted her with my hair. During the whole process she was very engaging and I had a great time. However when she started making blunt cuts and I thought she would come back to touch up on the layers but that was it. The whole haircut was 15 minutes. Shortest haircut I’ve had in my life. I didn’t realize how blunt and carelessly she cut my hair until I came home and saw that my layers were uneven and didn’t flow with the rest of my hair. Given, I did a «cut and go» haircut so she cut my hair dry(which might have affected the precision of the cut) I also had a coupon so I paid only $ 11 so I don’t feel as bad. But I know I won’t be coming again.

Another exceptional haircut from Haircutters, and a redeeming one at that. Last night I came and didn’t get a haircut due to a busy night, but tonight, after telling the young lady how I had waited for over an hour and was told there was only one person ahead, she not only took me right away, but allowed me to jump the person ahead of me for the inconvenience. On top of being extremely sweet and very helpful, friendly and engaged in our conversation, she did a great job cutting my hair exactly how I wanted! I was a little disappointed last night but this amazing young lady won me back for Haircutters and I look forward to coming back for my next haircut!

I absolutely love this place! I haven’t colored my hair in 5 years and was ready for a change. Francesca my stylist was extremely friendly and sweet helped me pick out the exact color I wanted. She did such a great job I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out.

This place isn’t fancy but it is clean and the staff is friendly. I went here to get a quick trim before starting at my new job. Dianne B. was my stylist and she was very good at listening to what I wanted(allover trim, maintaining length and adding long layers) as well as executing. I used a coupon from the Headcutters website and my bill was $ 26 including tip. Will go again.

This gem of a place is located in a strip mall. Don’t be put off by the exterior and low prices. This is a great place that accepts walk-ins. If you can however, I would call and request my stylist. She rocked. I was stunned by the high end quality hair cut received by Lana. I have NO idea why this woman works here and not in her own joint. I’ve had plenty of NYC $ 200 haircuts in my day. This woman is competitive with them. If you’re in town and looking for a spectacular cut — GOTOLANA. The other gals in the place looked to be doing nice haircuts as well. Everyone I saw walked out looking nice.(Including my mom. I loved the brand new style that was created for her.) Why did I like Lana so much? I’ve been having my hair cut the same way for the last year and change. Parted in the middle, straight and a blunt cut. No one has managed to cut it evenly. Talk about frustrating! After explaining what I wanted I went out on a limb and changed my mind. I asked for a shorter cut in back with a graduated cut to the front. As I had seen Lana cut my Mom’s hair previously I didn’t feel freaked out. I’m so glad I went with my gut. My hair looks fabulous! I can’t wait to put some makeup and go out tonight.(Her blowout was terrific. Not too hot either on the scalp. I didn’t feel like I was cooking in a toaster oven.) I noticed that Lana also does extensions(by appointment only) after a consultation. She’s a Russian-esque, thin, blond stunner of a woman with a great personality. I really liked her. Say hi if you visit please! Oh! One more thing. This place offers coupons in the«Our Place» freebie newspaper that’s offered in the supermarkets. This saves you a few bucks. Not bad at all. My haircut(for long hair) was $ 19. No joke! Wash, cut, blow-dry and style. Definitely recommend this place.
