Good, home town bar that is clean and not ‘seedy’. Coming from DC area, I found the prices to be very affordable and service was friendly. Essentially the only bar in Romney but would willingly come back here even if there were other choices.

Great place to 1) grab a beer and some wings or fried shrimp, 2) play a game of pool or Keno, and 3) chat with the locals. It’s got a authentic fun and welcoming atmosphere.

CATBURGLAR Over twenty cats disappeared from area of North Bolton Street between Rosemary and Birch, in the last year alone. Cats are tagged, vaccinated, neutered and have city permits. they are not being hit by cars and city has no reports of capturing them. Several years ago we had drug addicts stealing pets. They would tell owners horrid stories to get rewards to feed their pill addictions. Calls to Colonel G and Romney City? Hampshire/Cumberland Humane Societies confirm that no cats have been picked up. In fact, Colonel G has a lovely farm, cats are not put to sleep so please bring to him. They will have a great life and be out of your way. You may think you are providing a better life for them Taking away someone’s pet is very cruel and all we ask is that you return them to same area you picked up from. The not knowing is a torture, loved ones are left thinking the worst. A retired law enforcement official has gathered surveillance been gathering reports of suspicious conduct. He contacted us online. We have reports of a person seem with cat food feeding strays between uninhabited buildings as well a dark car with a horse logo going by when cats disappear from view as well as a white vehicle. A person has been seen dropping off kittens in area, as many as 20 kittens dropped off in a year. Other info on license plates has also been recorded. Please return the cats and no criminal prosecution will be taken against you. Perhaps we have a hoarder, or someone who is collecting them. If anyone has heard of anyone taking cats, or have overheard gossip, please contact. It. Is totally anonymous. A few months ago a child dying of cancer, had her beloved kitten taken. The child is very ill, her Mother used the kitten for the little one to hold during her chemotherapy. This cat is still missing. Elderly seniors have come by searching garages for their pets thinking their pets are stuck and starving to death. Another family had worked as missionaries and taken their cat around the world. only after five years living in town to to have it taken off their porch in broad daylight! Please good Christian neighbors help us find these kitties. No questions asked send emails to us and it will ease so many hearts. Homeland security asks us to keep our eyes open for suspicious activity. IFYOUSEESOMETHINGSAYSOMETHING it is your patriotic duty as a good citizen and just the decent thing to do as a proud Mountaineer and a fellow West Virginian. Any tip no matter how small, could make the difference and stop a criminal or mentally unstable person and return a furry friend to their home. It has been reported, that cruelty to animals is linked to child abuse and even serial killers. You might even save a life. Many widows have only their pets and it would mean so much to have their beloved best friends returned. I have heard of one such lady, in her 90’s, who, stopped her medication, she was so distraught, she was taken into senior care. She said. that without her kitty life was not worth living. If you know where kittens are, we can arrange a way to drop them off secretly. Please contact us no tip is too small. Thanks

The Brass Rail is the definition of a Seedy Bar it’s gross. But what other options do you have for the town of Romney NONE! The BR is predominantly more bar than restaurant so if you want a sports bar vibe this is your only option(so sorry) But if your looking for just grabbing drinks I would head up to el puenta their margaritas are delicious & they have sufficient TVs for sports watching! So if you want that«this is where the local bar flys hang out» vibe… the BR is your place! the smell of fried food in the air will lead the way!

This is a truly great bar. The patrons and staff make you feel welcome every time you come in. They have specials and deals all the time. The food is second to none in this town. The French fries and anything else you order will be perfectly cooked. They clearly make all of the sauces and dressings in house and they are all excellent. The prices are reasonable. This is cheers, if cheers had better food. I really cannot say enough good things.

During a recent stay in Romney, West Virginia, I made a point to stop by the Brass Rail, and for my money it’s the sort of place that would be my home-away-from-home if I lived in the area. Very easy to find close the town’s main intersection, just look for the neon bar signs in the windows. This is a good-looking place with some impressive old woodwork and mirrors on the wall behind the bar, and a dark faux pressed-tin ceiling above. The bar itself is obviously pretty old wood, scratched and re-polished over the years. Smoking IS permitted. For entertainment you have a row of video gaming machines, a good digital jukebox, two pool tables and even a bumper-pool table that is played a lot. Standard bar food: Wings, fries, etc. During Happy Hour I got a BIG glass pitcher of Yuengling for only $ 6.00! And best of all this is a friendly, no-attitude sort of neighborhood bar: Talk to the locals, and they’ll talk back to you and make you feel welcome. Buy a round of drinks, and they’ll do the same for you. I was VERY impressed with the Brass Rail, especially given the fact that Romney is a rather tiny town.

The Brass Rail is a good bar. They’ve got two pool tables, a dartboard, a good beer selection(bottled), very reasonable prices($ 4 Makers Mark!), a super friendly bartender, TVs, nightly specials(wings, drinks, etc.), and standard bar-food. They occasionally have local bands and as far as I know they have two regular DJs(one of whom played a great selection of old-school hip hop and funk). Good stuff!
