Minotti’s Wine & Liquor

If you don’t go here for your wine, beer and liquor needs you’re missing out! Ask for Big Joe, he’s there most days and even some weekends. He’s the owner and literally is the best. Heck of a great guy and carries the best selection in the state and probably the country.

Great. Selection. knowledgable staff. Check out the scheduled tastings. Order it if you don’t see it.

At first, I was going to say the following: I don’t know why I wouldn’t give a liquor store five stars unless it seriously creeps me out in any way (bulletproof glass separating you from cashier; seems really dirty; sketchy guys hanging around). But Alicia B. schooled me: Sometimes people really want to make GOOD mixed drinks. Aha, I understand now!
Really, what I want from a liquor store are some kind of not god-​awful vodka, and maybe some peach schnapps (because I do love a good fuzzy navel once in awhile and I don’t really keep other liquor in the house. Make that didn’t — because my husband loves to make Old Fashioneds and he needs bourbon for that).
But I also enjoyed the atmosphere. Growing up in New York, the only liquor stores I ever went into were teetering over into «way too sketchy» territory. It was nice to feel kind of suburban with my liquor for once.
I usually just do beer or wine, but next time I have a party (like the rager we’re planning for my daughter’s 2^nd birthday — not), I’ll probably come back here for some staples.

I think this Minotti’s has the best selection. We’ve been trying to make some of our favorite cocktails at home and, it turns out, our favorite cocktails require kind of obscure ingredients. Asking for crème de violette or green chartreuse at other liquor stores just yielded «…» faces and no help what-​so-​ever. At Minotti’s they’ve been able to point us to what we were looking for or offer to order it for us, which has been really nice.
This specific location, I think, is worlds above the location in Parma. The selection is bigger and the staff is nicer. If you’re in the market for liquor (and let’s be honest, who isn’t!?) this is the place to go. Especially if what you are looking for is unusual or hard to find.
