Good local beers available. Friendly service, HUGE delicious burgers. We went midday on a weekday so we have not idea what it’s like on a Friday or Saturday night. Nice bar area, too.

Stop for lunch with my wife midweek the place Decore is Texas style. We was greeted by the hostess right away big smile and very friendly. After our drinks come they blessed us with some amazing fresh rolls, basket was empty in short order. My Texas sirloin was cooked just right and had a decent flavor, the shrimp as a side was just right also. My wife blacken tilapia fish, she it was good but a little on the greasy side. Service was on point, the place was clean and the Country music was just right. Overall a pleasant visit and if were in the area again we will stop again for some more amazing rolls.

Have been multiple times for steaks, ribs and seafood. Food has been excellent and the current manager has things running very well and even spared a few minutes on a busy Saturday night. Will be back.

While the service is good, the food leaves something to be desired. I ordered a 15 oz. sirloin that was 30% fat and grissle. You would think that a steakhouse would get GREAT beef cuts. Not here!

We drove from Raleigh to meet the in-laws for dinner. The staff was so accomodating and seated us quickly. Our waitress, Courtney was very helpful with my son’s picky choice of food. We were able to use the Unilocal coupon for a free onion. The steakhouse salad was fantastic and cooked just as requested. The manager, Charlie was attentive and made our first visit very pleasant. Watch out Texas Roadhouse… we have a new favorite steak place!

As a local, it is a great place to grab dinner during a busy week. Make sure you try the Jalapeño burger. And make sure to sit in Roberts section or the bar when he is working. You won’t be sorry!

Where to start with this one. We were traveling to Williamsburg, VA, we and kids were hungry and wanted to get out of the car for a while, and unfortunately picked this place. The previous articles of the employees smoking out side while leaving the inside hollow are true. I thought they were just some of the staff on break. There were a number of cars outside, and at 2:30PM, I figured that could be a good sign. Turns out it was a group of ten there and everyone came in their own car. After waiting in the empty foyer for a good five minutes in an empty restaurant we finally got seated. I noticed that we and the one group were the only people in the place. The place is very dark inside, you have trouble seeing across to the other side. We ordered an appetizer a Salsa con Queso and chips. This arrived with a bowl of oily chips, and the con Queso in a tall-stemmed Margarita glass. It seemed rather odd way to serve and was too tall for my daughter to get to. The concoction they called Salsa con Queso, was my first clue that the people in the kitchen know nothing about Southwestern cooking, or Texas. There was no Queso in this mess. Instead of the creamy, soft Mexican Crema cheese, they used either canned cheese-like goo, or Velveeta, and mixed that with salsa off the discount shelf from the Wal-Mart and stuck it all in the microwave, in the margarita glass, because THAT was hot as hell. Needless to say, that went back. We all ordered salads, they were fine, nothing to write home, or here, about. Our entrée’s arrived, and since my wife and I ordered the same thing, a grilled lemon chicken dish with rice and grilled veggies, I figured both dishes would look the same, not here. I asked if they were both made by different cooks, we were told no, and the girl said she didn’t know why they did that. She thought she would just bring them anyway. The chicken on my wife’s dish was grilled and then sliced into strips, and haphazardly tossed on top of the rice with veggies strewn around it, mine was left whole with veggies on one side, and rice on the other. neither one of our chicken had the wine and lemon sauce topped on the«lemon» chicken, it was in a ramekin on the side. The chicken was over cooked, and flavorless, the sauce helped, but not much. The grilled vegetables looked and tasted old, but cooked regardless. Yes, of course the rice was over cooked, something South Carolinians like us get offended about. My daughter ordered sliders, and we asked the girl to order her the regular sliders from the menu, not the kids menu. She was brought the kids menu ones and the burgers on this were small discs of charcoal, literally they were cooked down until they were rock hard, and dry. We asked that they get her a regular burger instead, it took forever to just make a burger. She also told us her fries were not good. I tried one and it tasted like it had been previously cooked, and then microwaved to heat up. My son ordered a rib-eye steak with rice. He got someone’s grilled shoe sole. I had never seen a rib-eye steak cut that thin before. There was no way that was a 10 oz. steak. I have seen minute breakfast steaks that were thicker cut than this. Not sure what they used to cut it that thin, but I’m pretty sure it was a surgical laser. He ordered it medium rare, and putting the steak on the plate caused the heat left over from washing the plate to over cook the steak. We sent it back, and they brought another one,(they used a cold plate this time) but the heat left in the next micro thin steak over cooked it. The rice was, you guessed it, from the same over cooked batch as ours. My son said he would eat it anyway because he was too hungry to not have anything… Teenagers… The one thing I also needed to mention was that through all of this, if we needed our server, I had to walk over to the kitchen and grab someone to go and get her, because she would come out to bring us something, and then we would not see her again. We were not sure if she was going to come back, because she left her serving tray, with someone else’s dirty dishes on it, right next to our table. We were looking at this through our whole meal. So we figured we would just bus our table ourselves. I could hear everyone arguing in the kitchen, but very few were coming out. The manager comp’ed us for our chicken dishes, we paid, used the filthy bathrooms and left, never to darken the doorway of this den of food iniquity again.

This was pretty bad. My boyfriend and I went for all you can eat ribs. We were too hungry to really complain at the time, but I wish we had. The ribs were fatty and just boiled and coated in sauce. The green beans were from a can. The second half-rack, we got was a little better for having spent more time in the oven. The parts that formed a crust was okay. Still, at least this review will dilute the effects of that five-star so it won’t fool anyone again.

OK, guys, here comes the story. Was heading to my parents house in DC and craved a good steak(the one I had a night before at Applebees just didn’t cut it). So, I wanted to avoid the chains and go for a local steakhouse. Big mistake. Packed parking lot at Red Lobster less than a block away and an empty one next to the place should have told me something, but I’m a big believer and supporter of Mom&Pop kind of joints(I didn’t know the place was a chain also). First thing I’ve noticed is a bunch of employees smoking outside. Due to this and an empty parking lot, I’ve asked them :“Are you guys open?”. They said«Yes», so I went inside. Hostess was not there. I went outside and smoked, came back and hostess still wasn’t there. Five minutes later I was finally seated. I understand that 4 pm on Monday may not be the busiest time, but come on now. So I ordered Yuengling on tap, 10 Oz. sirloin medium-rare with sauteed mushrooms and dill potatoes. Sirloin came in a weird triangular cut, where one side was about 1.5 inches thick and another side ran to the plate. Mushrooms were served in a small bowl, were whole, looked dry and were purple. I’m not kidding. I’ve tried one and it was disgusting. It seemed like they took mushrooms from a can and just dried them to death in a microwave. Now the steak. They have a seasoning options for an extra dollar. I just wanted a plain good sirloin with classic seasoning. My steak had no seasoning at ALL! No salt, no pepper — just a piece of beef. Furthermore, after I cut it the steak was completely raw(at least on the tall side — remember, triangular shape cut). Furthermore, on the cut it was not pink, it wasn’t red — it was purple(old, old meat indication). Dill potatoes were good and rolls were also excellent. I ended up eating two bites of steak, one mushroom and all of the rolls and dill potatoes(I was really hungry). After I told the waitress that steak and mushrooms were just not right(she asked how was everything) manager comped the meal and all I paid for was beer. But after all, I came there for a good steak, not a beer. Fellow Unilocalers, avoid this place at all cost. It looks like there are plenty of chain restaurants around it.

En route to DC, we hopped off I-95 to experience the city of Rocky Mount. What should I say, people ain’t using Unilocal here, so we both made it to #1 on Unilocal leaderboard! Yay! Texas Steakhouse has had only one review, 5 star(that’s why we chose it). Upon our arrival i see bunch of wait staff smoking outside entrance, nobody is inside. Nobody by the hostess stand, not a soul at the bar… a ghost town! So I went to the bathroom and on the way peeked into the kitchen, where I spotted only one cook, and immediately I was hit in the face with a scene of dirty tiles and overall disarray. Suspicion creeped into my stomach, and not in vain. Things rolled only downward from then on. We ordered: –Onion petals app –Steak w/country potatoes & side of mushrooms –Cranberry and raisin salad –Side of Sweet potato The app was too greasy with a nasty yellow cheese sauce(from a can). When food arrived I noticed immediately my bf(poor thing!) was choking himself with a purplish-blob-of-slimy-flesh-mess called steak. I suggested he stop eating immediately! Health hazard, dah! Mushrooms were brownish-greenish, also from a can and probably sat somewhere warm for a day or two, the odor was unbearable. My salad… how can you mess up SALAD, kitchen? You’ve gotta have talent! The leaves were slimy(old), with holes(see pic), the dry fruit was sooo old I couldn’t chew on it. One bite and it was over. And finally, someone poured half-a-can of cinnamon on sweet potato, kidding me??? So, my ordeal was over, I refused eating this ugly mess, instead pointed my iPhone towards the food, and snap-snap…Now Unilocal’s got them! Managers and staff panicked, I guess they never seen someone taking pics of food, and good – let them learn a lesson. Thankfully, the staff was apologetic, and we didn’t pay a penny. This is what happens when you walk into food establishment with most staff smoking outside. Dare I say? 1 star for full refund.
