I don’t typically don’t do buffets, and I wasn’t excited about this one however if it wasn’t for the few nats that I had to swat away it would’ve been a great experience. The variety of seafood was excellent! They also have a variety of American food(fried chicken french fries etc.). Plenty of desserts cakes, donuts, ice cream to choose from

The food is top!!! The only thing I don’t like about this place is that it’s a bit overpriced and the bathrooms are smelly. But overall this place is good, especially on Friday nights.

Im not going to lie I enjoyed every food they had. Especially the miso soup! UNLIMITEDMISOSOUP! you can serve the green onions by yourself and also the white things. I ate oysters but the way they were stacked together it was a mess so the actual flesh was hard to find. Everything was disattach. I did not give 2 more star because of I wasnt comfortable where i was seated and because the food tended to be a bit too greasy.

I was food poisoned at this location. The hibachi grill is very disorganized. I would not risk the cheap price for stomach problems.

Came here because there was a group event, and I was very nervous after reading other reviews. The trick, I learned, is to only come on the weekend. Since it’s so busy during that time, the restaurant is continually refreshing trays leaving fresh food. I heard from one of my meal companions that during the week, the food is inedible. Overall, food was okay. Nothing special, but not bad, especially for the price. The sushi rolls all have imitation crab and the sushi is mostly rice. However, the salmon nigiri wasn’t bad. The fruits and vegetables were fresh. I wouldn’t come back on my own, but won’t be as scared if I have to come back for an event.

Due to Anna our Server, I pushed for the 3 stars, as she was excellent with her service. We were all enduring hunger pains from the night before, so All You Can Eat was the ticket & we were HUNGRY. Washed hands, got plastic utensils and we were ready to go. I can only consume certain options from the majority of buffets, so with a buffet like this, selected Sashimi/Sushi, Salad & Fruit Bar are the majority of my consumption. Yet this visit(my second to the chain as my 1st was in gaithersburg) started off on the wrong palate. First stop, the Sushi Station and lo and gosh darn it behold, there was a very visible, long black piece of hair on one of the serving trays. Now I know there is no perfect restaurant in the universe without any types of hindrances, big or small, and the«hair in the food» is probably the most common infraction; however it still doesn’t make it right. To right the wrong, I do appreciate the Sushi Chef coming over and without attitude apologizing for the hair and removing the tray. I stood there to make sure he threw the rest of the Sushi away, not just remove the hair, in which he did. Of course mental note was made… NOT eating either roll that I could have & settled for the Sashimi. Not a bad comeback, as the Smoked«Saki» Salmon & Ahi Tuna was pretty darn fresh & cut very nicely. I Ioaded up on my Sashimi, wasabi, ginger, seaweed salad & went on my way. For my trips to the fruit & salad bar, all the items I selected were pretty good. Would like to see the salad dressings placed in a ice bucket or some other apparatus to keep them cold as warm dressing isn’t good or safe… so I made my own dressing with olive oil, vinegar & fresh garlic. After 5 trips of foodie redundancy yet in different rotation, we were good to go. Kind of surprise no one alerted the Manager of the hair that was in the Sushi as I specifically chose not to mention to Anna to see if any effort of being proactive or accountability would take place, it did not. It will be a tossup if I return again, as Anna was gracious & outstanding with her customer serving skills.

Actually 2.75 stars. I only had the sushi. For 9 $ I ate 34 pieces that oddly all tasted the same, but wasn’t that bad. This is no top end sushi spot but was not a bad option for a quick fix of sushi with limited time.

The food is the main reason why I rated this with 2 stars. Good: First I enjoyed eating their: string beans and the mushroom with sauce, I also liked their tomato and onion with cilantro salad it tastes very fresh(it kind of makes you feel less guilty after you eat all the fried food), I also liked the wonton with meat fillings. I didnt try the sushi and hibachi. The egg tart was really good! Out of all places I’ve been to this one has the best egg tart. I also liked their salted peanuts and animal crackers. Okay: The fried fish with sweet and sour sauce, though the sauce was good, the fish was very dry and it lacked flavor. The texture of the duck was rubbery. The wonton soup was cold. The prime rib was dry and it lacked flavor even with the sauce. The stuffed clam and shrimp didn’t taste good. The clam tasted mostly of mayonnaise. The fried plantains were dry and it wasn’t sweet. Cake was bland and not moist. The sad part is they didnt have sesame balls. They have steamed sweet buns with beans, but one of the things I look forward to in a buffet is the sesame balls. I don’t enjoy giving out bad reviews, perhaps if they do read this review they can take it as a suggestion to improve. I will come back since it was only my first time today. I’m hoping my next experience will be better.

Two adults + 2 sodas = $ 33.24 at dinner. For the limited selection for a «buffet» it should have been less. First and last time here. PRO: Décor is nice with exception of lack luster bathrooms. CONS: Selection is limited. They need more of a variety of vegetables and basic Chinese entrees. I love shrimp and even stuffed shrimp were horrible. Do yourself a favor and heed the reviews. Wish I had looked before coming.

I love all-you-can eat buffets like a fat kid loves cake… I know my analogy game needs some work… But seriously, I love buffets, especially those that offer a wide seafood selection where you actually feel like your are getting you money’s worth. Teppanyaki Grill has a serious seafood line up on paper, so why the three stars from me and everybody else? In an attempt to strengthen my analogy game I would compare Teppanyaki Grill to the slightly«too hot to be messaging me» girl on OkCupid. You know the one with the hot pics and down to earth profile who in fact is kinda chubby and boring as hell in real life. The epitome might be the sushi buffet. The sashimi on the nigri is thin in a microscopic level, literally being held together with hydrogen bonds. And every goddamn roll is filled with imitation crab. I want to declare this to the world right now, «F*ck you imposter crab!» Cliff notes summary is that this place kinda sucks especially for 14 bucks. The unabridged version is below. 1) Peel and eat shrimp-Uses small 41⁄50 shrimp that are not deveined 2) Half stone crabs with drawn butter and old bay-So dry and overcooked they are in fact literally stones 3) Crawfish-Taste like dehydrated chinese shrimp 4) Whole steamed turbot –covered in disgusting teriyaki/generic mall food chinese sauce 4) Steamed salmon-only uses the scraps. I mean seriously they are serving up strips of belly trimmings 5) Mussels steamed or on the half-shell-Not debearded making it totally inedible 6) «Dim sum”-only chicken feet, sticky rice, and bao. If you don’t have even sui mai is it really even dim sum. Trader Joes freezer selection has more! 7) «Prime rib”-Um maybe the owner’s engrish isn’t so good, but prime rib means«prime» grade«ribeye», not Dinty Moore Pot roast 8) Chocolate fountain-fresh fruit and fruit flies

Went here for the lunch buffet. Tried the Hibachi area selection consist of red meat, chicken, shrimp, some veggies and noodles/rice. Cooked to order, enjoyed it. The sushi bar had a great selection about 10 different types of sushi with all the fixings wasabi, seaweed salad, etc. The buffet consisted of fresh looking and most importantly fresh tasting fruit! Lots of seafood(did not see crab legs at lunch), soups, asian dishes(chicken and broccoli, etc.), salads. I may have left some things out, it has enough to satisfy. Did not see a carving station for lunch. The desert section cakes, chocolate fountain, etc. sweet tooth approved. I skipped it. The place was clean and the food was rotated often. The service was good.

$ 16 Fridays is not worth the food and service. Do I really have to ask for a refill after finishing off several plates? Why not have a refill station with all of this so called new and improved buffet if employees can’t bother to pay any attention to detail? And, ITWASNOTPACKED that night so I don’t see why service should be under poor. Foods was drier than chewed gum. If you want real food this place is obviously not it. 2 stars because Hibachi was the only thing good here. But hell not worth $ 16 that night maybe $ 9 or other pricing options.

If you are hungry and you do not want to cook, just come to Teppanyaki Grill. Come in during lunch time because on weekdays, lunch price is $ 8.49 for adults and dinner price is $ 12.49. If you want dinner I would suggest coming in before lunch ends and then transition to the dinner menu. They can’t kick you out if you’re in already. Drinks aren’t included in the buffet price, it is an extra $ 1.69 for free refills. They have a pretty good variety of dishes. When I come in I mostly go for the seafood. They have clams, oysters, lobster — on some occasions, shrimp, crawfish etc. they also have a grill and sushi section. Sushi is alright, could be fresher and better. The grill I have not tried. I do not trust the meats because hey leave them under the light in room temperature. They also have a salad bar and dessert bar. I get the fresh fruits and fried donut. They also have a ice cream freezer. They sometimes have ice cream sandwiches or ice cream in little cups. I like the ones they used to serve, it’s the made in Frederick kind — it was creamy and not too sweet.

I used to frequent Tyson’s Buffet quite a lot so I was happy to see this space being utilized as a buffet again. The improvements to the dining room is good. They replaced the terrible fabric they were using for the booths and chairs with good quality material. Seating space looked smaller though. Now, the food stations are decent, but it lacks the variety of Tyson’s. It is a little more Americanized but they do have some staples such as clams, spicy diced chicken, sushi and string beans. The hibachi station was pretty decent. The soups are in the buffet station, but it’s all cold. They should leave the lids on the soups to keep them hot. I was surprised there wasn’t any noodle dishes such as chow fun and low mein. Lunch buffet is only $ 8.99– so can’t really complain too much.

Lunch time buffet! For the price this place isn’t bad. You just have to it’s not going to be gourmet food. It’s a buffet. The sushi is on par with what I would expect from this type of buffet. The rice was good. Seasoned appropriately. Limited selection, but did have some good ones. The main food was as expected. Tasty. Selection was ok, but there was enough there that I liked. Fried fish was good. Donuts were good– they used to have these at Fortune Star before they closed and haven’t found them anywhere else since. All in all good enough. The desserts were good. They had Japanese cheese cake. Yum! I don’t care if it was premade– love this stuff. Chocolate fountain was good too. Quick setting chocolate. Service was good. Décor ok. Price 8.99 for lunch and drink not included. So not bad.

[Taps plays in the background as a star is lowered from their rating] I really, really liked this place when they opened. I’ve been to this place way more than I’m comfortable to admit. I was like the black Norm to their Cheers. The woman at the counter would ask about my family whenever I came alone. I was going here mostly for the sushi bar, but lately it’s been more rice than anything else. I’ve gotten rolls lately that had rice in the center of the roll next to a centimeter or two of a crab stick. That was the last straw for me. The other items are just okay now. Not bad. Not great like it was when they first opened. Aside from the renovated décor, it really feels like your run of the mill Chinese buffet. The last time I went, besides the rice roll, no one refilled my water and the chocolate fountain that I mentioned before was broken. Le sigh.

Should have paid more attention to the reviews… I got too distracted by how amazing everything looked: The variety of the food, helpfulness of the staff, the crisp and clean décor. I was mislead. One word to describe the food would be greasy two more would be borderline rancid. Seriously, everything looked good, but the only thing I actually enjoyed was the«crab» soup. The only thing BP liked were the sweet-bean bao. That’s literally all we actually ate. The chicken was tasteless and the beef was chewy. The fish? Inedible. I didn’t dare try the hibachi, the meat looked like it had been sitting out for DAYS. It looked so gross. I did make the mistake of eating the sushi, the Philly roll. The cream cheese was truly rotten. Eeeh, I can still taste it in my mouth. After I tired that, I could barely eat anymore. Yes, they do have a chocolate fountain, but it’s more fun to play with the food then to eat it. The pineapple and strawberries they served were thawed out and certainly had seen better days. We left very disappointed.

Back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, the only place to get Chinese buffet in this area was Bamboo Buffet on Viers Mill Road. Today, 5 million years later, the numbers have increase a little bit. About 10 years ago, Chinese buffets were popping up all over but many have now gone out of business or they have just gone down hill. Tyson’s Buffet, once touted at the largest buffet in Montgomery County, closed and is now replaced with Teppanyaki. To be fair, Tyson’s started going downhill way before they closed their doors. Add to that better buffet locations like Hibachi Grill in Gaithersburg opened up and just took whatever business remained. Tucked in a strip mall off the beaten path(and next to MOM’s organic market) is the outwardly flashy but inwardly mediocre buffet. Granted, I must confess that today was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving aka busiest travel day in the World(or at least North America since we are the only ones celebrating Thanks right about now) AND the weather people forecasted a huge snow storm which didn’t really stick to the ground AND we had a late lunch at 2:30pm when the place closes at 3:30pm. Disclaimers aside, there are a lot of pluses. 1. Tons of free parking. Important in the DMV area. 2. Lots of hot food, salad and dessert choices. 3. Cakes, cookies, ice cream AND a chocolate fountain! 4. For $ 9.00(includes tax but drinks cost extra) there is a habachi grill so you can have something fresh cooked to order. 5. Even for lunch there is peel and eat shrimp, fried fish, lots of mussels and unique fruit from my childhood like loquats. What did I eat today that was yummy? The fried fish was tender and flavorful. No tartar sauce but it didn’t need any. The teppanyaki beef was a little spicy but still tender. The bundles of cheese wontons were overstuffed with cream cheese. The green beans were crisp and flavorful. Each of the different meat dumplings I tried were good. The pan fried ones tasted like they added the sauce to the dumplings. I actually like that. General Tso’s tasted like it was supposed to taste. The chicken wings were huge… twice the size of Popeye’s! The plantains were ripe and perfectly fried. The mac and cheese tasted like mac and cheese and there was plenty of cheese! What was a waste of jaw energy? The asparagus were thick as tree trucks and less than ¼ was palatable. The stuffed scallops tasted and felt like pasta salad… I could not find a scallop anywhere. The prime rib was sitting in a tray of au jus but when I cut a piece it was as dry and as tough as shoe leather! The mashed potatoes tasted and looked like they were from a box. There was a grilled salmon but it was more on the dry side. The sushi looked like it had been sitting out a while so I only tried two which were fine but nothing to write about. I tried a stuffed shrimp but it was more like the whole shrimp was stuffed into a pork meatball. It was«ok». Not something I would eat again though. There is a large salad section but the dressings were sitting out without refrigeration. Lots of fresh fruit like oranges, grapes, kiwi, unripe mango, pineapples, and cantaloupe. Canned loquat fruit. Many types of cakes… chocolate, german chocolate, strawberry, vanilla. My favorte is the ice cream sandwiches in the freezer. If you want a really good Chinese buffet, take the extra time and drive to Gaithersburg. If you don’t want to drive, this is a good alternative. Personally, I am willing to go back and try again during the busy lunch rush.

Another mediocre buffet in the area. Everyone went crazy lobster– people were running and waiting for the lobster. However, the lobster was really dry, probably cooked on way too high heat for too long, and there was barely any lobster meat. The sushi bar was disappointing. So much rice, barely any fish. I waited and waited, and they quality of each roll looked disappointing. I can’t remember anything memorable except the flounder. Tasted really light and it was steamed like the way my mom does it in her kitchen. Hibachi grill was ok. Probably should have started with that because that’s the only place with freshly cut ingredients, cooked the way you want. A good lazy person’s dinner, who doesn’t want to stir fry yourself.
