Great service and communication, they were upfront with pricing and called with updates about when parts would be in, costs and labor. They are familiar with my Volvo S60R which makes me feel more comfortable bringing it here. I drive from Northern VA to get service from them. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants a fair price on quality work

I took my 335i here for a good walnut blasting clean up, I made an appointment 2 weeks before coming in the job takes about 4 – 5 hours depending on how dirty the valves are. I dropped my car off in the morning and returned later that day to pick it up waited about 2 hours in their lobby (which looks very clean) but unfortunately the car wouldn’t be ready until the following day, I was kinda disappointed but nonetheless the job was done the following day.
I recommend them to get the walnut blasting done since they are cheaper than the dealer. I would request pictures of before and after the cleaning for your records. Cheers!

Didn’t find their AUTO service department knowledgeable. I sensed a limited expertise to work on a BMW. Best for my car and peace of mind to continue service with Rockville BMW. Not perfect, but I believe Rockville’s BMW service department is more knowledgeable, professional trustworthy, and evidences a higher degree of expertise.

This place is AMAZING! I was visiting MD and had to get back to PA when my car started having issues. I’m picky about where I take my car so I researched mechanics in the area and this place looked top notch. I called Scandinavian Import Servicenter and they were able look at my car and get everything fixed all in one day! Both Phil and Clyde were extremely helpful and understanding. The pricing was super reasonable and fair. The garage was spotless and probably one of the cleanest I have ever seen. I couldn’t have had a better experience and I’m happy to say I will be a life long client when I am in the Rockville area. Thanks so much for everything!!!

Bottom line: honest shop, willing to educate customers on their vehicle, good pricing.
Took my older Volvo in to SIS because it was feeling its age a bit. I told Clyde what my concerns were and he asked some additional questions about the issues — he is kind of like a calmer version of the guys from Car Talk. The SIS guys took a look at the car and called me later that day with their findings. Clyde fielded my several questions and, surprisingly, also asked about what my goals were with the car: Did I plan to upgrade soon or drive it into the ground for years? Did I have any long road trips coming up? He gave some options based on my specific situation. In my case, some solid after-​market parts helped make it a much more affordable repair while still being adequately reliable over my planned length of ownership. He even helped set me up to fix a minor repair on my own to avoid some of the cost; amazing. The repairs were completed within the schedule we agreed to and I have not had any more problems with those issues.
The facilities seemed quite safe and are well-​maintained. In the waiting area there is coffee available and seating for maybe 5 people.
The location is 1.5 miles from Shady Grove Metro, and 2 miles from Rockville Metro — there is bus service and SIS can pick up/​drop off at the metro during business hours.
I agree with these reviews; I would definitely recommend Scandinavian for Volvo service.

Have you ever heard of a car repair place that tells you what is wrong with your car, then tells you it’s not worth it to spend the money to fix it? Or you tell them you need a new battery replace it please then they refuse because they disagree? This is the most honest, knowledgeable, accurate, best auto repair shop you will ever have. I have been going since the 80’s when they were in a smaller location. I have purchased several cars there and always return for service. Service managers: Phil can be a little snooty and arrogant if you catch him on the wrong day; Clyde is always nice, I prefer him.

Excellent and trustworthy service. The only place to go in the DC-​Maryland area if you own a Saab or Volvo. They have taken care of my family’s cars for the past 25+ years. They are experts in Scandinavian and European cars, and tell you in a straightforward manner exactly what issues your car may be having, how important they may be to address, and how much it will cost. We have sadly moved away from the area and have not been able to find a repair shop to match their quality. These guys are the best!

Being a female with a troublesome car can be difficult. I’d hate to say I fit the stereotype of a female who knows nothing about cars, but it’s true. I don’t know anything about my car. I put gas in it and pray it gets me from point A to point B. I’ve been to a number of places to have my car fixed. My dad has always instilled in me the notion that people jack up prices to fix your car and I should not trust anyone.
When I moved further from home and my dad was no longer around to tinker with my car, however, I was in trouble. I’ve been to a little bit of everything — small shops in the back alley of a suspicious street, the standard Jiffy Lube, and could definitely not afford higher end places that certainly will overcharge me.
At Scandinavian, they don’t treat you like another somebody who doesn’t know anything. They take the time to answer your questions and understand that we’re not all loaded with money. I appreciate their integrity and their honesty.
Additionally, the owner is one of the kindest people I have ever met. When talking to him, you can instantly feel that he cares about you and your car. The staff as a whole do. I am not receiving the fast talk, sell me a bunch of stuff I don’t need nonsense. Similarly, I don’t receive the judgmental, your car is going to die in the middle of the road if you don’t do this super expensive thing you don’t need look. They understand if I want to delay one or two things until I can get my finances in order. They help me evaluate my priorities for my car and help keep my car running with my budget in mind.
I don’t go anywhere else now.

This place is so incredible, I bought my car from them without even test driving it… I was out of town for a month, saw a 2005 Volvo V70R posted for sale and called and spoke with Alan who was just the nicest guy to ever deal with. I put in a small deposit and they held the car for me, when I finally got back in town I test drove the car and absolutely fell in love.
The entire shop makes you feel like you’re at home. Everyone in the service bay has a great attitude and the shop is very clean, they were very honest in what the car excels at and what issues the car might have; this is very rare for a dealership to do, normally they just take your money and send you on your way. The owner of the dealership really knows his product and has a true passion for the cars he deals with.
The mechanics in the service bay are completely dedicated to Volvos, Saabs. BMWs and Minis, you feel very comfortable talking to any one of them, you can tell they really know these cars inside and out, especially Edwin who worked on my car before it was sold to me.
When it came time to do paperwork, the staff was very helpful and patient with the insurance companies and they even did all the work that you normally do at the MVA so you don’t even have to go to the hell hole that is the MVA afterward. I walked out of there with everything completely done, it was so easy.
I have never owned a Volvo before but now I’m hooked for life, this car is incredible! Don’t buy your car anywhere else, this place is great!

The experience at the Service Center has always been great. I take my Volvo back to the service center and it runs like the day I got it — perfectly.

he facilities are Top Notch and the employees in the service center are very nice. But I spent over 2200.00 (in the last month) on my car and it has been towed back twice in this month. They did not work with my warranty company very well like other shops. I have owned 12 cars and trucks and worked with plenty of shops and after market warranty companies. They just would find ways to make as much profit for them selves as possible. I feel like I ve been ripped off, they had my car for 8 days It broke down on the drive home. My Volvo is newer model and has 40k and I am the second owner their is no reason why my car should need so much work, especially when I have a FULL coverage after market warranty. My car is in their shop now, because It will not start and is having electrical issues It was NOT having before I brought it in. I would recommend Volvo Import specialist in Bethesda MD or a Volvo dealership it has been a nightmare dealing with this shop and a huge burden.

They are the best. If you own a Volvo, Saab, or Mini, go to these guys. You owe it to your car. They will do everything in their power and under the sun to keep your car running and get it back on the road. I have the world’s most temperamental old Volvo 240 and they go above and beyond every single time. Thanks, guys!

My MINI was no longer covered under warranty so I needed some one to look at it because there was a terrible nose coming from the rear of the MINI. I found Scandinavian from a recommendation of a good MINI friend. The staff at Scandinavian found the issue and fixed it quickly. Thanks to them, the noise is gone, maintenance is complete, and service on my MINI Cooper is easy and convenient. Bogdan kept me up to date through out the day on how it was going and even told me about some other issues that might occur later on. These guys went above and beyond my expectations. They have a customer for life

The key to maintaining a European car to the Moon and back is a great mechanic and timely maintenance. It’s difficult to find a reasonably-​priced, clean, efficient shop with staffed with individuals who care about your car as much as you do.
Scandinavian Import Servicecenter is that place, which is where my two Volvos go. My last service was a timing belt and general lookover on my decade-​old wagon nearing 200k miles. The service was done in less than a day, was significantly less money that a similar service on a Honda or Toyota, and there was even a shuttle service to take me to work.
Very happy with this shop and recommend to any Volvo/​Saab/​MINI owner. I don’t have to worry about the honesty, integrity, and quality of work.

I’ve been taking my cars to Scandinavian for about nine years now. There is no Volvo specialist in the D.C. metro area that even compares, making it well worth my drive from Alexandria. They are always up-​front and honest about repairs and pricing. Their customer service is excellent. And their prices are a fraction of what dealerships charge, despite always using OEM parts. Free rides to the Metro/​rental car office are just the icing on the cake. I put considerable mileage on my car, so I am a frequent customer. I’ve never had a bad experience with them. I highly recommend these guys for any repair or service to your Volvo, Saab or Mini.

I bought a Saab from these guys about a month ago. There was no pressure, no hassle and a terrific loan process through a local bank. As I was driving the vehicle, I noticed a vibration while braking and they quickly determined it was the front rotors. They replaced them, and some outside trim, at no cost.
Honest. Straight forward. knowledgeable. You could not ask for anything more.

My parents have two Saabs and these guys are the only they trust. And believe me, we are there often. (We have older cars that are oft-​used and get a lot of miles.)
They are always honest about what repairs you need and will tell you if you can get away with something less pricey. On the few occasions that they have made an error or miss something, they fix it, no questions asked.
Their quotes are less than others, and they have no problem telling you they can’t take care of something and will recommend someone they trust.
They are very congenial guys, always a pleasure to work with. They try to fix your car as soon as possible, with as little hassle as they can. They call and keep you updated. They’ve even come in early to do some emergency work for us. We heart them muchly.
They have after-​hours drop-​offs, so if you can’t stop by during regular business hours, you have no worries. And they have complimentary rides to Rockville metro station when they are open.
These are the best guys we have worked with, we always feel safe – un-​scathed and un-​scammed – when we go here. I whole-​heartedly recommend these guys.

This shop is fabulous! I bought my preowned Volvo here 3 years ago. Honest, geniune, fair, competent sales. The service center has been fantastic. Alan, Chuck, and all of the service staff are very knowledgeable, efficient, effective, reasonable, and caring. I highly recommend Scandinavian Import Service Center!

Squeaking and grinding — I knew my brakes needed to be replaced. I looked over them myself and figured at least the front pads and maybe the rear rotors. A previous shop in silver spring looked at my car and recommend that I replace both front and rear break pads and rotors. That shop quoted me at $ 960! I nearly fainted when I heard it would cost nearly 1 grand to fix my car. This was even more than my dealer quoted me last time. ($ 800)
I called up a mechanic I trusted back in Cali where I’m from and he recommended me to these guys at Scandinavian Import Servicenter. They looked my car over and said all I really needed was the front pads to be replaced, everything else was in decent shaped and could be replaced later on. Their bill only came out to about $ 170, saved me over $ 700 bucks. Honest great guys, very accommodating, know their Swedish cars. I am definitely going back to them.
