Potomac Pizza

This is one of our regular go to places. The pizza is delicious and the salads are very good. Sandwiches are also good with a large selection. I love the Honest ice tea. The staff is always friend and fun to talk to.

Great pizza– love their cheese and crust. I also order ahead of time often online and the staff is always punctual and on time with deliveries. Great service.

Not sure why this place gets such a negative review. It’s a pizza delivery place, and the pizza itself is great. NY-​STYLE pies with flavorful sauce and good quality toppings and cheese. Yes the price is a little higher than the chains, but if you prefer Dominoes than by all means spend a little less. Who cares if the interior is not up to standing compared to a full restaurant – that’s not what I came here for in the first place.

I thought I loved Potomac Pizza but my kids only eat Dominoes so we always order from there. Today I decided to order from Potomac Pizza just for a change. Never again. I just remembered how truly awful their delivery service is. My pizza took over an hour, was freezing cold, burned on top and very over priced. The french fries were soggy and freezing. For the cost of my order, I could have had a Large Dominoes with 2 sides, steaming hot in half the time. For future reference, if you’re looking for good delivery pizza, stay away from this place, seriously terrible.

Lunch special was good. Slices are topped and prepared to order. Our interaction with the team was friendly and helpful. Our food was promptly delivered.
Good spot for a casual lunch, catch-​up with friends, or dinner for a family with young kids.

Just ordered the Spinach Ricotta pizza and it was perfect! Very pleased with the service and quality of food.

Worst customer service ever!!! I ordered over the internet and after an hour I called to see where my food was and Todd (MOD) said they never got my order. Though I had a confirmation #. So Todd, took my order over the phone. I asked for Penne and meatballs without tomato sauce and a Salad. When the food finally came about 2 hours after I originally ordered it, the food came wrong. The Penne came with tomato sauce (due to health reasons) I cant have tomato sauce. So needless to say I ended up eating a salad. I will never go back to them ever again!!!

We’ve been to Potomac Pizza before for team parties for our kids. Pizza’s not bad, your average pizza. The BIG problem we had was the pricing. First, they had menus placed in front of their cash registers and inside were coupons. We came on a Tuesday night for dinner and there is a coupon to buy a large pizza and get another large cheese pizza for $ 2.99. Their management would not allow us to use the coupon from their menu if we came in, took a menu, and tore out a coupon to use on that same day. They said we had to come back and use it next time. Then we turned around and saw a big poster at their door that said that if we bought a large pizza on Tuesday (which is the day we came), we can get a large cheese pizza for $ 2.99! Why was their management making a big stink about a coupon? If they didn’t want us to use coupons, management should cut out the coupons that are placed in front of their registers or put a different menu in front of their registers! Plus, if we came in on the Tuesday and we could already buy the large pizza and get a second large cheese pizza for $ 2.99, why were we refused the deal because we were trying to use the coupon? They could have simply said, you don’t need the coupon, the deal is already in our system.

I bought a livingsocial voucher for a birthday party and it was worth every dollar.
My 8yr-​old son got to invite 20 kids who all made their own pizza from scratch. They loved it. While the pizzas were in the oven, we had time for a game and some lego buiding, then they all ate their creation and also had cupcakes. We had plenty of space for our group. Everyone loved the formula.
I had never eaten pizza from Potomac pizza before, but ordered some pizzas for the adults. I’m not a good pizza judge — hardly ever eat them — but my 15 yr-​old daughter said they were really good.

Food is ok, not bad but not great. Just not anything special. They only have combos during lunch time, at dinner you have to buy any fries or sides separately. The price isn’t really worth the portion size. I had the cheese steak sub which was ok, and my husband had a meatball sandwich.

Pizza is not bad; comparable to Ledo and Papa Johns etc. The problem here is the price. You don’t charge 16 bucks for a medium pizza and expect to receive less food (essentially serves one person) and worse quality than the aforementioned brands.

Has a few tables, but I’d treat it as a takeout place or a place to grab a quick bite; not much of a restaurant. Pizza from here is extra cheesy, extra salty, and tastes good. It’s pricey for what it is, but you can get some good online deals, especially on Tuesday. Mamma Lucia’s up the road is better, but this will do on occasion.

Chick at the counter that works their during lunch rush during the week stood their at texted on her phone while I waited to order. Plus, this pizza is greasy as sh! t!!! Also, been there twice — got the same thing twice (hoping the 2^nd time would be better) charged a different price each time — within the same week!

Potomac Pizza is consistent — consistently poor.
The first time I went here, I was excited because they’re just a few minutes away from where I live. I ordered the chicken fingers and they were AWFUL. Limp, borderline soggy, and bright yellow, they looked like they’d been allowed to thaw and then fried at too low a temperature. Just for comparison, the chicken fingers I got in my college cafeteria were better. The chicken fingers I’ve gotten in every dive bar have been better. And they didn’t have the nerve to charge 6.79 for a small portion! My brother got the eggplant parm sub, another disappointment. Again, it seems silly that a place that is on the pricey end of fast-​casual food can’t fry eggplant without turning it into a soggy, greasy mess.
The second time, I went with both of my brothers. We love calzones in my family, so we each ordered one. First off the price. 10.99 is significantly more expensive than any calzone offered by a comparable restaurant anywhere in Gaithersburg (even sitdown fancy Italian restaurants). Second, the quality. Abysmal would not be too strong a word to use. After shelling out big bucks and waiting 30 minutes, we expected calzones that absolutely rocked. Instead we got miserly pockets of dough that Ebeneezer Scrooge would’ve been proud of. 10.99 for something that is 90% pizza dough! If you go to the website and look at the pictures, the amount of filling that is actually visible is the entire amount of filling present! My meat calzone of «sausage, pepperoni and canadian bacon» had a few tiny pieces of ground up sausage, a few slivers of ham and some slices of stuck-​together dry pepperoni that oozed orange grease everywhere. My brother’s vegetable and cheese calzone actually oozed water all over his plate from vegetables that had most likely been boiled and then not thoroughly drained. A soggy mess is unacceptable even for a 5.99 Calzone, let alone one that is twice the price. The next week, we went to a place that had great calzones and kept talking about how much better they were than the ones we’d gotten at Potomac Pizza. The initials PP could easily stand for Persistently Poor.
Third time, I came in by myself for a quick sandwich. I ordered the «White Meat Tuna Salad Sub» described on the menu as «Loads of dolphin-​safe white meat tuna salad made with celery and sweet relish.» For 6.99 I expected something similar in size to what I would get at that chain Sub shop we all resort to. I got two tiny half-​subs, each about 2.5 inches in length. Maybe I’m blind, but I did not experience ‘Loads’ of anything, except disappointment. Looking at the menu, everything is described in glowing terms, SPECIFICALLY emphasizing large portion sizes — I think they feel that if they do, you’ll simply think you’re hallucinating when you experience a micro-​sub like I did.
Finally, I will relate a story told to me today by my friend, let’s call him Dick. Dick goes to PP quite often to get carryout for his coworkers. The last time he went there, the cashier aggressively pulled him aside and said that Dick hadn’t paid for his food the previous time he’d been there. Cashier then shows blurry security footage showing Dick standing in line, but which does not conclusively show him paying or not paying. The cashier was acting very threatening and Dick didn’t want to go back to work empty handed, so he caved in and paid double! At the very least this is unacceptable customer service, at worst it’s actually extortion coupled with intimidation!

This has become our «go to» pizza place, although it took a while to get used to. The sauce has overpowering oregano, so the whole pie tastes minty, which is really odd.
Their «regular» crust is a little thick, but they will make a gorgeous thin crust upon request. They are generous with the toppings and cheese!
Side dishes are very large portions and fairly priced.
Probably the best in the area — sure beats Ledo and the national chains!

This was one of the worst pizzas Ive ever ordered. The staff was nice. I had the Greek pizza I normally love Greek pizza. When I opened the box to check it before I left it didn’t look like it was going to taste good but looks can be deceiving. Unfortunately this time they were not. Also the pizza crust was so soggy it was just sagging down when you pick a slice up and all the topping just kept rolling off which was irritating. We ordered a large which was just shy of $ 20 we ate a few slices and didn’t even finish the rest. This place is near where I live so I was really hoping to like it but honestly it’s one of the worst pizzas I’ve had, I gave it 2 stars to be nice.

Better than Basil’s but that’s not saying much. We ordered online which saved us 20 percent but this is not NYC pizza no matter what anyone says! The closest this area had to NY pizza was when Athens Pizza was in Seven Corners, VA. Ancient reference, I know. I also got the linguine with meatballs from PP and that was disappointing. Especially the stale Italian bread that came with it. So far, I think Coalfire has the best pizza in the area.

Ver good, crunchy, not a super thick crust pizza. If you get toppings, at Rockville/​Traville, the load them on! Location is big, clean, serves beer, has TV’s. All food seems of a decent size & good.

I have to agree with Steven G and PM that the pizza is the closest I can find to real NY style pizza. Definitely a step above the chains. My wife was full with two slices. I also had the Sausage & Pepper sub and I’m definitely a fan. I thought the prices were also very reasonable. The floor and tables were clean.
Service was very good when we visited — a very responsive and eager-​to-​please young man was very courteous, took our order, served it quickly and checked at least 3 times to make sure everything was ok.
Also, the men’s bathroom was very clean. My wife said that the ladies room was the same. I will definitely return.

They are aiming for the NY style of pizza and they do a decent job… crust is good, sauce to cheese ratio etc…
when i saw the price was $ 3 a slice ($ 3.70 for toppings)… i thought, «ok, well this is going to be a nice big slice of NY style pizza»… but no, the slices are SMALL! — sure, with my appetite, everything is small… but one of these slices wont even fill up the average female.
the pizza is very good but their other offerings are pretty good as well and a better value … so the key is to get their tuesday pizza special!
