I went to Oxygen today to get my daughter’s botched purple highlights fixed by Matt. All I can say is FANTASTIC! He explained everything to me clearly ahead of time, during our consultation, and today went very smoothly. My daughter’s hair looks beautiful! The atmosphere is relaxed and trendy and Matt was really professional and friendly. We will definitely be driving the 30 minutes for our hair in the future. Thank you Matt and Oxygen Salon! Just a heads up — they won’t let you put tip on your credit card, but they have an ATM in the lobby area. The salon is in Congressional Plaza, so a great place to grab a quick bite to eat after to show off your new style.

I decided to try this salon due to the good reviews. I wanted something a little crazier than my normal hair color routine and decided on hot pink. I went to Kimmy and told her what I wanted and she made it happen! I’m so happy with my color! If you’re thinking about coloring your hair, go to Kimmy.

I’ve been to this salon twice and have had an amazing experience with Stephanie! First off, the salon is very nice and Stephanie always offers coffee or water. The shampoo both times was THE BEST I have ever received and lasted quite a long time. Seriously magical…
Stephanie took a lot of time to listen to what I wanted out of a color. I didn’t know really– ombré, balayage, highlights? I wanted a soft ombré but with a bit more blonde up top. Stephanie knew exactly what I meant and gave me the most natural looking soft ombré I have had! The color never turned brassy, even weeks later! The strands of blonde were so tiny and detailed that it looked like natural highlights, not like wide streaks of color. She trimmed just enough to keep my hair healthy and long and gave me a beautiful blow out. Overall, Stephanie is a genius at creating natural, beautiful color! And she does a great blow out! Add to that an amazing shampoo job and beautiful salon… It’s a winning combination: D
The second time I saw Steph was for a mega volume blow out for a Christmas party. She definitely delivered! Not only was my hair amazing, she introduced me to a product that I am now totally obsessed with (Bumble and Bumble Thickening DrySpun Finish). I typically don’t buy products that are recommended by my stylist, not for any particular reason but I just like to experiment with products and make my own choices. This time I bought it all, shampoo conditioner and styling product.
You’ll need to take cash to tip or use their ATM that’s in the salon. No card tips, unfortunately… :/​I’m sure the stylists occasionally get the raw end of the deal because of that decision. The salon is next to a Starbucks, smoothie place and Sephora so if you arrive early or want to walk around with a friend, the area is nice.

I go to Oxygen to get my yearly keratin treatment so I don’t look like a walking fuzzball each summer. I don’t have a favorite stylist there, I just book an appointment with whoever has an opening.
I really like the place though — they don’t look you up and down, they are happy to answer any questions, they offer you a beverage, and I love the variety of keratin treatments — they have Goldwell, Cezanne and (I think) Japanese. I found the price for my keratin treatment to be within the range expected, even though this shop is in a more upscale area. It appears from other reviews that their cuts and color rock as well.

Love this place! i have moved all over the country, finding a great salon is difficult. I found this place once I moved from Virginia to Maryland. My hair is thick, wavy on bottom, and straight on top. It’s a little out of control and I generally wear it in a pony tail or bun. Seven, my stylist, did a great consultation on color and cut for my daily wants and active lifestyle. The color was great, my hair style, thought slightly different then before, was more flexible to my activities. I wanted my hair to grow longer without the awkward look. Seven has done a wonderful job, my hair is now a few inches longer, healthier, and the color is great. Highly Recommend Oxygen Salon and Day Spa.

I had Naz, one of the two owners of the salon cut my hair. Fabulous job! Naz was a wonderful woman. She understands exactly what you want. My hair looks amazing. Nice staff too. I almost fell asleep while getting my hair shampooed and massaged. It was very relaxing. Highly recommended. Everyone who needs a haircut go!

Location, location… This place is great since it is located at a prime spot. The service is also great. I got a haircut here and would even like to get a perm but since they saw I was expecting, they had to make sure if perming is good for the baby. So, to be safe, they told me to just wait as they don’t want to harm the baby. Now, as far as location goes, I love that it is close to buy buy baby, container store, bed bath and beyond, etc. Everything a housewife needs ;)

Melissa Gilbert was the first hair stylist to steer me straight. My hair was beyond damaged! She worked with me to create a healthy head of hair yet still keep my preferred style. I have very unruly curly hair yet like to wear it straight which is always a damaging process. She just recently introduced me to a new hair product called Olaplex. It’s not too expensive and the process is a breeze. My hair looks sooo much healthier now! I’ve been with Melissa for 7 years now and wouldn’t trade her for the world!

Love this place every one is so nice and friendly. Rae Baker is awesome. She helped rescue my hair from a horrible previous hair salon mistake to a wonderful hair color and style! Now everyone that sees me love my hair!

Very good service from the day I made an appointment with Kimmie to the minute I walked out with my new color!
I walked in with a 2 month old ombré and an a-​line long bob and wanted violet red. I booked Kimmie based on online reviews/​pics of her style. I wanted a hair colorist that did funky colors and she was the only one at the salon for that.
I walked in a few days after the 2016 blizzard. Very nice atmosphere, extremely nice receptionists and staff. I showed Kimmie pictures of the color I wanted and it was perfect. She was very nice btw! My biggest fear when switching salons is getting a color different than what I show them but she did awesome! She trimmed up and evened out my bob because my hair was fried from my old ombré.
I’ll definitely be back to this salon in 1 – 2 months for a glaze. They are really nice… Took my coat as I checked in, calm, offered water, coffee. I’m a sucker for skills and good treatment.

I love this salon — they’re professional, friendly, funny, non-​pushy with products or services and Seven is the best stylist and colorist I’ve ever had — she’s also hilarious. The spa’s in a great location so you can knock out some shopping before or after your appt.

I tried one or two other stylists there though that I was far less impressed with.

Tosha is the only person I trust with my mixed hair. She’s great, professional, and talented! She specializes in all hair textures and works with you to get the healthy hair that you want. I’ve been to the salon for highlights and cuts and each time I’ve left more than happy. All of the staff are very warm and friendly, and the salon is very clean. I highly recommend going to Tosha if you’re wary of people handling your curly or difficult hair.

First time writing an online review, I went to Oxygen after reading the Unilocal reviews. Stephanie colored, cut and styled my hair. This is the best my naturally curly hair has looked ever. I also have mostly gray hair that I have been having colored for as long as I can remember. The cut and color not only fixed the mess my hair was in, but it is an easy style to maintain. I usually can never come close to the salon styling, with Stephanie’s gentle training and realistic expectations of what I could do, I have been able to do it.
Stephanie was friendly, very skilled and took the time to ask me questions about my hair. I have never had anyone be so detailed about my color, curls, styling habits and hair health. Her recommendations were spot on. I will definitely be going back.

She has plenty of experience – your hair is in good hands with both a highlight and a cut, but she’s young enough you won’t leave the salon looking like your mother.
Normally I don’t understand why stylists don’t just wash their clients’ hair… but the woman who did it here gave me a wonderful scalp massage. :)
For the first time in over a year I’ve felt like I finally found the right salon and stylist.

I just moved to Maryland from Hawai’i & have been wanting to get a red ombré since the start of this year. It’s been at least 10 years since I got my hair done, other than a quick trim & thought it was time for new look. I finally got the courage to go and get it done, and thank goodness that I did.
I called the day of and got lucky that there was space available in just a couple of hours with Naz. As soon as I got in she had me seated and started her magic on my dark, course, Hawaiian-​Asian hair.
The only thing I would recommend is that you plan to be here for a few hours if you’re going to get something other than a normal cut or color, and especially if you have dark black hair like mines. We had a great chat and she never complained about how long it took to process my hair.
She also had a great assistant, Milagro, who is very sweet and gave me great scalp massages both times that she had to wash my hair! I went from plain Jane to red hot. Mahalo Naz for the great experience and amazing outcome from start to finish!
