Mirage Nails & Waxing

Walked in for eyebrow waxing today. This is my second time here. The first time, I left irritated because they dropped the waxing stick in my hair, panicked… And ran out to get help. I decided that everyone has bad days, so let me give them another try.
The place is in a great location and cute inside. When I was brought back to the wax room, it was dirty. Once I laid on the table, I looked up at the light and it was disgusting. I should have left right then, but didn’t. I got the vibe they were not too thrilled that I only wanted my eyebrows waxed, but it could have just been me. The lady did not ask me how I wanted them or anything regarding my eyebrows. She just stated, «Is that your husband waiting for you out front?» Then proceeded to rush through appointment. Once she finished, she handed me the most disgusting mirror I have ever seen. Too dark in the room matched with grease ball mirror made it impossible to see the quality of my eyebrows. I paid my bill and left. When I got in my car, I saw the quality. A big chunk of my eyebrow was missing. Luckily, I am pretty low maintenance and I can laugh it off. However, after two bad incidents here with two different employees, I will not be returning. It’s a shame because it so convenient. Suggestion, walk two minutes up the road to Progressions Salon. Exceptional quality service there.

This one is clean, organized, well put together. I always get great service here and I’ve worked with many of the employees at the salon. My favorite is Vivian as she is very good, very nice and accommodating. The prices are a little higher than the other salons nearby but I’ve never had an issue at the salon and I can’t say that for the others that I’ve been to. I highly recommend this salon if you’re looking for quality.

LOVE! I tried 3 other salons before I found Tina at Mirage Nails. I’ve been going to her for acrylic refills for almost 2 years and I will never go anywhere else! Im super picky about my nails and they are perfect every time :) She’s also an amazing waxer — my eyebrows are perfect every time she does them!

This was an expensive disaster. I called ahead and asked for the cost of a pedicure with gel manicure. Thought they said «$ 54», and I repeated the number back to them. Turns out it was $ 64! That it wayyy too much, and the prices were not posted anywhere. Additionally, I always ask that my toe and nail colors match; they provided a «Matching Colors» wheel, but in the end (and the staff agreed) the colors did not match at all. There was no attempt to fix or offer an adjusted price. Way overpriced, no customer service and if my eyes weren’t deceiving me, their method of cleaning tools is to run under hot water in the sink. Certainly didn’t put in any autoclave. Steer clear of Mirage.

I love to come here for Linda. She does a wonderful job.
When she is not here everything it’s kind of disaster.
I come with my daughter and I start to pay 10 dollars for change color to her. Today they charged me $ 20.

I found another amazing nail place. Im always in search of nice nail places since I been to so many that doesnt impress me or are worthy of my hard earned money. So with very little time to spare. I really needed my eyebrows waxed and an overdue manicure. I went there during the week. It was kind of packed but this really nice tech name Marty or Melly. Took care of me. I always say a hail Mary when I go to new places for waxing. One bad experience from another nail place has made me like this. The salon is very clean and upbeat with modern and trendy décor. I go to the wax room and Melly is very friendly and doesnt have bad breath. Ive dealt with so many nail places and the nail techs have such bad breath breathing in my face. So I was relieved that she didnt have stinky breath. These things are important. My manicure was very nice. Its five days later and my nails still look brand new. My hands are still soft. She didnt rush or cut me as some places do that. No pushy up sales like you want pedicure? The prices are a little high but then again you are in the Fallsgrove Shopping center and you get quality service. Ill book an appointment for a pedicure on the weekend when I have more time.

Dirty wax room. No paper sheet on the bed. No clean pillow case. Eyelashes Very uneven. Droopy falling out! Went back 3 days later and the tech who did them was Loud and Rude. telling me it’s my fault and she does Good Job! LOUD RUDE IGNORANT UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE! FILTHY PLACE TOO.

Excellent service, very clean, and they did exactly what I asked for! Their prices are great, definitely my new nail spot!

I never expected from walking on without an appointment that I would end up being a regular. Kristy is amazing!!! I got a fullest if acrylic and everyone thinks they area nails. They hold up beautifully and are very natural. Not to mention I’m very rough with my hands. She is very thorough and detail oriented and never rushes. The salon is simple looking but clean and the quality of service is excellent. First time ever I’ve actually been maintaining my nails with fills and getting pedicures also.

These people clearly have a problem with African American people. I had a job training in Rockville and decided to check them out because I was interested in a pedicure. I went in to first see if they had the same color on my nails which they didn’t so as I am leaving out the representative follows me and asks me did I pick a color, I responded no you all did not have the color of my interest. He then says I didn’t see you put it back. I was completely appalled. It is extremely unfortunate that I was accused of stealing polish. Completely unjust. By the way check my nails out! Im sure they couldn’t match this artistic beauty anyway!

After my sad, sad manicure on Saturday from Lifestyle Nail Spa on Randolph Rd, I was itching to get my nails done again and have them be beautiful this time. I looked at the star rating on Unilocal and decided to walk over from the Whole Foods to Mirage Nails and give them a shot.
I initially just wanted a polish change, as my polish from the manicure just three days ago was already chipped and very uneven.
The salon itself looked fine– not sparkling clean and new and beautiful, but not horrible either. There were more than a few towels strewn about, but no big deal, really.
The lady tending to me (Tina) asked if I wanted my toe nail polish changed too and I said, sure, why not? During this polish change, she left me in the pedicure chair twice to go tend to other customers. That’s ok, it was busy. When she came back, she suggested a gel manicure after asking why I was unhappy with my current manicure and then after I accepted, she promised she’d take care of me.
Once at her station, she managed to get rid of tons of cuticles left behind (this made me very happy) and she shaped my nails and they looked awesome. Then she did the gel manicure thing and they looked amazing!
I paid $ 51– $ 37 for the gel manicure, $ 14 for the polish change. A bit pricey, but I left her a $ 10 tip and was on my way.
This is where it went bad. Once outside, I noticed streaks on my nails. Greasy looking streaks that I thought were on top of the nail polish, but are somehow cured in with the polish itself. It looks TERRIBLE.
I was so disappointed I almost cried. I have a new baby and being able to tear myself away and leave her with a babysitter for almost two hours is really difficult. If I’ve spent over $ 60 total, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect my nails to look perfect. I don’t have the time to fix this myself and have to wait to go back to get it fixed.
I’ve contacted the salon to let them know I am unhappy with the results of my gel manicure and I’m hoping they will be nice enough to fix their mistake.
Update– After reaching out to management at Mirage, I received a quick response from Assistant Manager Brian. He apologized for my nail sadness and offered to fix it for me, free of charge.
Brian is a super professional, funny, knowledgeable guy and he gave me literally the BEST manicure I have ever had in my life. I am so happy and grateful to Brian and will be a loyal customer for life!

Eh, it was ok. Got pedicure that was just blah. Th e polish was a bit uneven and did not reach the end of my nails (pet peeve). But if you do not mind that then you’re good to go. The lady working was friendly so I tipped nicely. Also the equipment is sterilized so that’s a bonus (my favorite salon does not sterilize was my nails are really flawless and last for weeks).

Came here for the first time yesterday to get a classic manicure for myself and buffing/​hand massage for my boyfriend.
The prices are reasonable and the service is standard. The lady never pushed me to get gel or anything like that either. We did have to wait around 15 minutes to be tended to but the staff were all very courteous and kept telling us we were not forgotten.
I’m giving 4 stars and not 5 as I left with polish on odd parts of my finger that was never cleaned off. And my boyfriend’s massage and buffing lasted a very short time given the price. But overall a good experience!

I’ve been getting manicures every 2 – 3 weeks for the last 8 years, and I’ve been to places all over the country — this is definitely in the bottom 5 of places I’ve ever gone.
Manicurist barely acknowledged me when I sat down. She didn’t ask how long I wanted my nails to be, and before I noticed what she was doing, she had filed them WAY too short. Certainly not a world-​ending problem, but extremely frustrating when it could have been addressed if she had just asked what I wanted. After I pointed out that they were too short, she left the other hand longer, which means my hands are totally lopsided. REALLY SLOW polish application, and my nails don’t even look that great. I would definitely skip this place — bad customer service and a bad manicure. I wish I could get this hour and a half (really, it took that long!) back in my life!

Worse experience of my life. Went in and asked for a full set and eyebrows. One lady attempted to putt my nails on and they were all a different length, she was very rude and cut me while filing. The second lady continued to file my nails while I was holding back tears cause of the pain. I arrived at 7:30 and they didn’t start my nails till 8:00 and finished so late they wouldn’t even let me sit to let my nails dry. Said to «let your friend Carry your stuff and you can go» NOT ONLY THAT. They didn’t even do my eyebrows because the lady who was so ready to leave didn’t charge me for it

I went to Mirage Nails on the Pike today based on reviews I read here on Unilocal… what a huge mistake. I originally wanted to get a gel manicure and wax but when I walked back to the bathroom and saw the waxing rooms I was grossed out by how dirty the place was…
The salon was old, dirty and had absolutely no ventilation. To make things worse, I paid $ 37 for a gel manicure that looks horrible. It honestly looks like I gave my 5 year old niece a chance to paint my nails. The manicurist did a HORRIBLE job. I cannot stress this enough. She also took her sweet time… I was there for over an hour.
On top of the horrible manicure, I cannot get over the fact that the gel manicure is $ 37 and they are SOOOOO cheap with supplies. I highly doubt she used clean tools on my nails. And the cotton… I just paid almost 40 bucks. You can afford to soak more than a centimeter of cotton to soak the gel off my nails. Instead, she used barely any cotton so she had to pick all the gel off my nails.
I am NEVER going back.

The ONLY place I go to get my nails done. I live in DC and work in Bethesda and have been going to this place for years. I always ask for Bryant if possible, otherwise everyone seems to be great! My gel nails last 3+ weeks every time.

In my opinion, this is the best place in the Rockville area to go for nail services!
I am not overly fond of chitchat while I get my nails done, I just like it to be relaxing. The staff here certainly aren’t rude, and will engage in conversation if you want, but they are not super chatty if you’re not in the mood for conversation.
I’ve come in twice, and got a gel mani both times, and a pedicure once. Their prices are a little high, $ 37 for the gel mani, but I like their service and how long the gel lasted. Both times I made an appointment, which seems pretty necessary just so they have enough staff for you, they always have customers, but it’s not crazy.
The tools are clean, they came out of a sterile bag and my tech poured a new container of sanitizer that she put the tools in during my visit. The files themselves were a little older looking, but not dirty.
The pedicure chairs are very nice as well. My only complaint is that the towels they use for the manicure tables and the pedicure are ratty looking, clean but the edges are very frayed. The towels for drying your hands are nice and new, so don’t let that be the reason you don’t come.
If I were staying in the area per mentally, this would be the only place I would ever go!
