Love their Coconut Macarons and their plain croissants. I get both every time I go. Also tried the mini pastelles(?), they were super yummy.

Excellent customer service. My first time here and tried the almond chocolate croissant which was super tasty! Not a baker by all means(I rather eat something without knowing how much butter and sugar was put in it!!!) but it had a taste of condensed milk and was moist on the inside and super crispy and flakey on the outside. The lady in the front said they are from the Czech Republic and gave me a sample taste of their honey cake which was so good! They have tons of layers which are individually baked and delicately layered which does not sound like an easy task. I enjoyed it and would get it in the future for a special occasion. :)

This place is incredible. The cappuccinos are awesome. But the pastries are extraordinary. You can’t go wrong with anything in this little gem. Don’t get put off by the location. The food here would hold its own in comparison with cafes in Europe.

This place is a nice hidden gem. The price is good. Food quality is good and flavorful. Coffee is OK. The owner take time to prepare your sandwiches which show how much they care. I’ll have to see if the quality and plating stay the same when they are busy. The service is outstanding. The owner gave my gf and I a piece of their cake. This small slice of cake is amazing. I work for a place that specialize in pastry and let me tell you. This cake is so good.

This place has the best simple French pastries. Their flavor is reminiscent of our trips to Paris. The butter croissants are so flaky and rich. Their pan au chocolat tastes just like it does in Paris. Might favorite pastry though is from the Bordeaux region… The canele. These are crisp and caramelized on the outside and a soft, almost custardy, center. La Bohemia bakery makes THEBEST caneles! When Saint Michel closed(previous ownership for same bakery), I was so sad. I hunted caneles around DC(Paul, Smack), but none of theirs compared.

A little hard to find, but a jem in the rough worth the time for a bakery item. Food(4 Stars) — Had the bread pudding, almond croissant, and bunch of bakery items and everything was delicious. Ambiance(3 Stars) — Small w 3 tables that can sit up to 6 Service(4 Stars) — Friend and great Jimmy’s Hacks — Bakery is located behind Amalfi in alley on right. Locals swung in & out knowing exactly what they wanted, so stand to the side if you’re deciding. Note… reviews maybe updated after future visits. THEYARETRYINGTOKILLMEWITHBUTTERYCROISSANTSANDPASTRIESHERE!!! C’mon man-is stuff supposed to me this good? Is stuff supposed to be this good all of the time? Look, the food is consistent here and the pastries are to die for. Whether it is a buttery, flaky apple turnover or a chocolate moelleux, you cannot go wrong here. You will turn away in disgust at any croissant you see at the grocery after eating one at this place. When you ask me if I would like something from this place, all you’ll get is a: «oui, s’il vous plaît!»

La Bohemia Bakery is a small, no-frills bakery that offers quality European baked goods at a competitive price. The shop is pretty much tucked away from public view and without GPS, I would’ve driven right past it. The interior is small, but very welcoming. The staff are all friendly, and you can tell that they really put the time and effort into making these pastries taste as amazing as they look. My favorite things to get here are the almond chocolate croissants and the apple turnovers. The almond chocolate croissants have a very rich flavor. It’s very sweet, but it’s the best thing to have in the morning especially with coffee or hot chocolate. The apple turnovers are smaller in size, and their sweetness is a little more subtle. The filling inside of the turnover is like applesauce and didn’t have actual apple chunks, which I was expecting. The turnover is worth trying if you don’t like your pastries overly sweet. I also ordered a BLT sandwich, which came with the standard bacon(that was cooked perfectly), lettuce, & tomato, with thick cuts of turkey, and a generous layer of mayo. All of this was between one of their freshly-baked baguettes. This is what all BLTs should be like… It was so GOOD. If you’re looking for baked goods that are made fresh with the tastiest ingredients, then get ready to take in the tantalizing aromas of La Bohemia, and satisfy your sweet tooth with some European flavor. You should stock up while you’re at it!

I’ve been wonderfully pleased with everything I’ve had from this small bakery! Their sandwiches(Paname and Caprese) are delightful and full of savory pleasantries! Their baguettes and loafs are perfect and can accompany any meal. Their desserts are excellent and should not be missed! Their prices are very reasonable and puts other businesses to shame with their high prices. Their seating is limited and you may have to settle for Carry Out on busy days. Dont let this deter you though

Yummy almond chocolate croissant and cold milk. I was at g street fabrics and wanted a smack. The shelves were very bare at 4pm on a Saturday. The man running the counter was very friendly and French. While the baker Christ is not French, his baked goods remind me of France. Try the sandwiches on their fresh baked bread.

This bakery is lovely. I walked in around 10AM on a Saturday, and there was only one person ahead of me in line. There was a French-speaking man working there when I went in, and he was very friendly. I told him it was my first time there, and he gave me a free cannelle. He answered all my questions. Here’s what I got: *cheese puff – little, about average quality, probably wouldn’t get it again *almond croissant – about average size, very delicious and flaky *traditional baguette – awesome! Deep flavor, and perfect crispy crust. Not just white bread in a long shape. Definitely not your average baguette. *coffee – average price and quality. They don’t have real cream for the coffee – only coffeemate. Overall a great bakery. I probably won’t get coffee again until they improve their coffee game, which I certainly hope happens very soon. As another reviewer mentioned, their espresso machine is a nespresso machine.

Want delectable chocolate croissants? Amazing almost-flavored pantries? Authentic french bread and brie sandwiches? Definitely a fan of LBB. It’s too bad they’re so hidden from main roads, but it almost makes the experience even that more«special». Such a fan of the sandwiches; not your typical subway, foks,(in a very good way). Fresh French baguette, soft, thick slices of brie, and ham/salami/etc… so amazing. support this mom ‘n pop! you won’t regret it.

I loved Saint Michel’s Bakery when it was here; however, La Bohemia is starting to steal my heart, too. I will definitely try their delicious looking sandwiches & breads next time, but first things first — the pastries. I ordered the macaroon(my favorite from SM), chocolate almond croissant, chocolate moelleux, canale, bread pudding w/chocolate, and apple turnover. All were so fantastic. The macaroon’s were not as humongous as I remember them which left them a little less soft on the inside; however, this could also be since my hand’s gotten bigger since I first started eating them at the Bethesda farmer’s market from age 10. The canale had a similar hard, chewer outside with a soft eggy inside. Flavor-wise, still the best pastries had on this side of town. Hands down. Their pastries tend to be less buttery than the ones had at SM. Good news for some(me), detracts for others. Their pastries bring back the nostalgia from SM’s and they set themselves apart with their flavors just enough to have their own character. I definitely recommend coming earlier than later as their pastries go quickly! I will definitely be back. Parking: VERYLIMITED parking in front of store; most of the parking spots are owned by other business. Otherwise, LIMITED street parking — metered.

I’ve come back so many times since my discovery. Good for my tastebuds, bad for my belly and wallet, ha. The pastries and desserts are worth waiting for. Often times, they are out of the items I want, but they’ll throw more in the oven if you’re willing to wait. Totally worth it, because the croissants come out hot and crispy, and they’ll never taste better. The folks at La Bohemia also told me that I could phone in what I want and they’ll set them aside for me. So nice of them to offer. I wish they were open later though. They close at 5pm everyday and closed Sundays :( + canele… Perfectly baked so that the bottom is crispy and the inside is soft and chewy + almond croissant, probably my favorite thing here + honey cake, very unique to this store + chocolate molten lava cake, so rich and decadent

Spot on! I’m got the atlantique sandwich and it was amazing. It included smoked salmon, cheese, and cucumbers. Very fresh bread and ingredients. I often find baguette sandwiches to be a little to hard, but this bread was perfect. Midway through eating my sandwich, I texted one of my friends who loves French baguettes and often complain that she can’t find good baguette/European-ish sandwiches here. It was just that good. The bakery itself is very small, and hidden in the more industrial area of Rockville. It wasn’t crowded and my sandwich didn’t take long to prepare. I definitely plan on returning and will be telling more people about this hidden gem.

Au revoir Saint Michel, and a huge bienvenu to La Bohemia Bakery! Although many of their offerings are traditionally French, the new owners are from the Czech Republic and add a personal touch by offering a muti-layered Honey Cake. So sad they were sold out when I got here at noon on a Saturday. As were most of their pastries. I bought a plain croissant, and when the guy said the chocolate and almond ones were in the oven, I almost drooled. Oui oui, I want those too! I raced to Harris Teeter and did my after vacation grocery shopping, and raced back. Can you believe they were almost sold out again? However, I was one lucky lady. When one can’t decide what to get the only option is to buy it all! I bought a chocolate croissant and an almond croissant. The nice lady threw in a Canelés de Bordeaux for me to try. Each item was délicieux! I think a tear just fell from my eye. Canelés, where have you been all my life?! These little fluted cakes have a tender custardy center with a glassy, caramelized crusty shell. I’ve read about the ones the owner of Dominique Ansel Bakery(home of the Cronut) in New York makes, and now here they are in Rockville, Maryland in a fabulous new bakery on a nondescript street. Bestest part: They are $ 1.10 or $ 0.55 depending on your indulgence. Buy six, or better yet, a dozen. They are unique. The new owners have remodeled, but while bringing back the French pastries we knew and loved from Saint Michel’s incarnation, la Bohemia has made a name for itself. One that you will remember. One that will draw you back time and time again.

La Bohemia Bakery is a cute little European bakery that just opened up in Rockville, taking over the previous French bakery, St. Michel’s. The baked goods are really good! Everything is freshly made. They have baguettes, bread loaves, sandwiches, and pastries like croissants, tarts, etc. The owners are also really friendly and helpful. I had the Atlantique Sandwich, which has smoked salmon, butter, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber on a French baguette. I also requested adding Brie and was not charged extra for it! The entire sandwich was delicious. The baguette was freshly made with a nice crispy crust and soft inside. When I showed up on a early Thursday afternoon, they were out of a lot of items. I was still able to get a chocolate croissant, Chocolate Moelleux(chocolate lava cake), and a Honey Cake. The store owner also threw in an almond choco croissant for me to try! Everything was amazing! The croissants were soft and flaky. The Honey Cake tasted heavenly. It can be a little too sweet though. They also serve coffee, which I have yet to try. I’d definitely return to try their other baked goods. La Bohemia is not located in the most convenient area. It’s tucked away in the industrial side of Rockville, but it’s worth the drive. Even though it does not have as many items as other French/European bakeries, you won’t be disappointed in what they have to offer!

I’m so excited that the best sandwich shop I know is back open for business! They used to go by the name St. Michel, but have reopened with a new name and now accept credit cards. Having to carry cash made it hard before, but now I’ll probably be there all the time… The sandwiches are perfect. The bread is chewy, and what’s inside is even better. Last time I got the Pan Bagnat — tuna, egg, anchovies, black olives, lettuce, and tomato. I love black olives and anchovies, so I had to try it, and it’s the best. Definitely a great spin on the usual, boring tuna sandwich. I’m also a fan of the«Complet». The staff is extremely friendly, and made me try some of their pastries. I tried one of the petite canelles, something I never would have thought to try on my own since there’s no chocolate, but it was really good! They’re pretty hard on the outside, but soft and chewy in the inside, with a sweet, almost honey-like flavor. Could be very addicting. If you want great sandwiches and pastries, this is the place to go.
