There are times when you are not feeling well and are in need of a qualified and caring physician. Well, this is what precisely you can find in John Hopkins Community Physicians. I was very pleased with their service starting from the front desk to the doctor’s assistant. First, you are received with a genuine smile that makes your day. Second, the professional service that you receive cannot be better. Recently, I was seen by Ms. Patricia Young, MSN, CRNP, (who also sees my wife and daughter) and she was ver thoroughly in her exam and recommendations. JHCP counts also with their own lab to conduct tests and an excellent online service to request your prescriptions from your favorite pharmacy. Thank you JHCP for the great service in our community.

I had the distinct pleasure of having 2 great doctors at this fantastic site. My primary care provider is Dr. Leora Allen and she is thorough, excellent, exceptionally well-​trained and patient. I felt very well cared for and she does not miss anything. On another visit (today’s) I saw Dr. Patricia D Young, whom was exceptional as well, she was thorough and cared deeply about all my issues. She gave me helpful advice and paper brochures as well as tending to all my concerns. I felt very well taken care of. I have to give kudos to the nurse staff as well, they are exceptional and very nice and friendly, full of smiles and very pleasant. Overall i highly recommend this practice. The nicest professional staff! Thank you!

I have been going to 3 Johns Hopkins Community Practices (Columbia, Rockville and Germantown) over the last 7 years. All of my primary care doctors keep quitting. I have changed doctors over 5 times.
At first I thought the concept of their setup was great because you get an appointment «faster» than a private practice with one doctor. However, since you are seen by multiple doctors, there is no consistency and you do not develop a relationship with a doctor. You are pretty much starting from scratch each time.
Based on several people that I know that work for Hopkins (at the Community Physicians and the Hospital), I know at the end of the day you are ONLY a number. They have to meet a quota to get paid or they do not get their full salary. They just want you in and OUT as soon as possible.
This is probably why so many doctors leave.
Avoid Hopkins at all costs!

Called in search of a Primary Physician. I got the worst person on the phone-​Abbey! Rude and disrespectful! I gave all my insurance information and she swore she never heard of it, funny it was the same as Shady Grove Hospital employees across the street from them! Hmm
Needless to say, I am still shopping a Primary!

I really liked Johns Hopkins Medical. I’m from the old school where you had a :“family doctor” and the newer healthcare wasn’t thrilling me. I started last year with Dr. Linares who unfortunately left the practice. She was quick bur thorough. I admit I had to wait a long time at my last appointment, but name me a medical practice where you DON’T have to wait. Johns Hopkins is one stop shopping. You can get your blood work done there and they will call or fax in prescriptions which means one less stop at the pharmacy for drop-​off. The best part is having the My Chart online system so you can leave messages for your doctor, reorder prescriptions and track your diagnosis and tests. I really am impressed with John Hopkins Community Physicians. I will be scheduling an appointment with Dr. Jaffre in tn the near future and expect to be just as impressed.

Get the morning appointment. I have no issues with this clinic great staff always have smilies and very upbeat.

I’m currently writing this review as I wait in one of the rooms to see the nurse practitioner.
Being a new patient, I was told to come about 20 minutes before my appointment to fill out paperwork. Okay, no problem. After waiting almost an hour to get called back since I initially arrived, the nurse asked me more questions and entered them into the computer. These same questions were just asked on the forms I filled out. What’s the point of filling out these forms then?! When she finished with the questions and taking my vitals, she said the NP would be in in about 15 minutes. It’s almost 30 minutes since she said that and over 1.5 hours since I arrived… I still haven’t been seen.
This office specializes in internal medicine and family practice. They also take Medicare and Medicaid. There’s a wild range of patients waiting in the large waiting area, which was packed when I arrived.
Unless the NP is beyond wonderful and wows me in some way, I definitely don’t see myself coming back here. With the age range of patients here, I’m assuming that I’ll never been seen on time or within a reasonable amount of time of my appointment.

My appointment was at 3pm. I got there at 240pm and left just a little before 5pm. Not how I want to spend my afternoon.

I find the physicians excellent but the support system behind appointments, referrals, check-​ins etc appears to be disjointed. If you have an acute illness, you either go to an emergency room or a clinic like CVS.
It’s very difficult to identify why it seems difficult here. The docs are great; the staff seems competent. Maybe it’s that they don’t seem to be a team.
To call with simple questions is difficult. Usually you leave messages that don’t get returned. Getting a script refilled is best done by your pharmacy as getting a return call is difficult.
There’s always a 40 minute wait which may be more of a reflection of the fact that this place takes Medicare and Medicaid and the waiting room is always full. And indeed, the Medicare/​Medicaid combination is why I deal patiently with them.
If you genuinely need anything, you have to show up in person.
A real plus is the online medical record where you can review your appointments, request script refills, and ponder lab test results after the doc has reviewed them with you.
The billing system is a bit unusual — it shows up months (6 or more) behind the actual service. But they don’t send it onto a collection agency, so that’s a plus.
Parking is always available in the back in the garage.

I have seen Dr. Mehta for 4 years and she is really great. She has a strong focus on preventive care and can do a lot of preventative care in the office (including pap smears to save you another trip to the GYN). She is always behind schedule, but know that she will also give you the same courtesy as her other patients. Just be prepared to wait.
I also see Dr. Joel if Mehta is out of town or her schedule is full. Dr. Joel is fast and efficient. She almost always runs on time. She is young, but still very good. This is primary care, after all.
Why the 3 stars? The office management is terrible. The way they are set up is ridiculous, with one receptionist for each provider for something as simple as check in. They also need to get with the program and become all electronic, rather than having so much paperwork. The office is very slow to return calls or get back to you about anything. They billed me a $ 25 co pay 2 years after an appointment, and after I submitted the receipt to them (thank goodness for FSA!), they still didn’t return calls.
This office is great for easier visits, but if you need to see a PCP often and actually need to get your records, this is not a great choice. Alternatively, get your records each time you are there to prevent delay.
