History

Established in 2014.

Rockville location makes A Visual Affair’s third office in the DC metropolitan area, opened in July 2014. They opened their first office in Arlington, VA in 2001, and second office in DC, near DuPont in 2004 and hold the same standards, keeping its doors open to the Washington Metro area to provide great customer service, quality eye care, and boutique eyewear for a fair price to their patients and customers.

Dr. Neeraj B.

Business Owner

Dr. Bindal graduated in 1991 from the University of Maryland, with a BS in Finance and Marketing. He was one of two graduates of the University hired by AT&T to join their fast track management program, where he served as a financial analyst for the merger and acquisition, and the strategy and planning business units.

Surrounded by four ophthalmologists and optometrists in his immediate and extended family, he later went on to earn a Doctorate of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1999.

Dr. Bindal is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Virginia Optometric Association. He has also published a paper for the Review of Optometry.

After putting his time in various practices after graduation, Dr. Bindal completed his long awaited goal: the coupling of his finance, marketing and science into one career — A Visual Affair, Inc.

I am a frequent Unilocaler (I Unilocal everywhere I go), anyways I go in and Im immediately taken aback. This place is gorgeous. I was so pleased. The manager John was fantastic! Ive been wearing glasses and contacts almost my whole life and John and the doctor knew exactly what I needed and recommended my best course of action. John seemed to know my style and what complimented me so I let him take the wheel. We had narrowed it down to 3 pairs and even had the doctor judge them and we all decided on the tortoise shell Burberrys. I cannot wait to pick them up and wear them all the time (doctors discretion because I have scratched corneas). I will definitely be returning again for my checkups and new contacts? They are so wonderful here!

A fantastic experience for a first-​time wearer of glasses! With no prior knowledge in this realm, I am extremely lucky to have purchased my first pair from A Visual Affair. Firstly, they have a great selection of glasses in varying styles. Secondly, I have never experienced customer service like I did with John. He was extremely knowledgeable, and made me feel like I was the only one in the store. More importantly, he took time looking through several pairs of glasses, while giving me his honest opinion until I found the perfect pair. The staff here is thorough, caring, and provide a level of comfort like no other. I will be coming back here for my next pair!

We’ve come to expect depersonalized service in retail, even in something so significant to health and wellbeing as optometry, which is why working with John Mathis at A Visual Affair is such a pleasure. John has that enviable quality of being present in a relationship with a client, paying full attention, never hurrying anyone, and (this is super important), never pushing frames that make you look like a geek but have big markup (as does happen in some places). John and Dr. Neeraj Bindal have created an atmosphere of concern, friendliness, patience, honesty, and sincere desire to please. NOTE: Don’t imagine that the big box stores are cheaper. This is the whole package. They have a wide range of frames, including those with prices that please the budget-​conscious.

I don’t usually do Unilocal reviews but this optical shop deserves it. It has the best customer service! John, the manager, is very accommodating and assists you with everything you will need –contacts, eyeglasses, even nose pads! Both he and Dr. Bindal were very accommodating as I did not have an appointment when I walked into their shop at 5:40pm! Dr. Bindal did the eye exam excellently and provided a trial pair of toric contacts that suited my needs (although they were a different brand from what I previously used). John answered all my questions so I could make an informed choice in selecting the lenses for my eyeglasses. They also have a great collection of frames. The one I selected was chic and was surprisingly a Davis frame (free under my health insurance). If you’re looking for a competent optometrist and great customer service, this is the place!

I live close by so, on my way to the coffee shop, I stopped past this quaint little eyeglass boutique to have my glasses repaired. The manager, John, was such a nice guy! He Adjusted my glasses perfectly (with a reasonable little disclaimer, since I didn’t get them there), and wouldn’t even let me tip him! I left with a smile on my face and an appointment for the end of October that I didn’t even initially planned on! I’m actually looking forward to it!

I had to come onto Unilocal and review this great establishment because of their fantastic, personal service. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help when you come into the door. The manager, John, is exceptionally professional and he helped me out with all my problems, including picking out my glasses and ordering my contacts lenses. He is very friendly and knowledgable. He also is very dedicated, even helping to find the best pair of glasses for my face, rather than shoving the most expensive pair at me.

This place is awesome, Manager John is exceptional, professional and he helped me out with all my glasses and contacts lenses I needed, He is very friendly. He is very knowledgable. He knows what he is doing unlike most of the places that pushes you to get the most expensive one. He let me take my time and helped me choose and advise me. thanks John. I searched the interwebs for a good eye place relatively close to my home and hopefully covered by insurance. Turned out their website does list the new Rockville (Congressional Plaza) office! Wow, this place was a VAST improvement over the Myeyedr, who I originally went to and found out was just awful.

I wandered in on a WEDNESDAY evening for my initial appt with Dr. Bindal. The optician was friendly and I was immediately brought in to see the good doctor, who spent the better half of a half hour listening to me talk about the devil that is gas permeable (read: hard contact) lenses. He then explained ALL of my options and the pros and cons of them all. Unlike other places, I didn’t feel like I was being sold to, but rather custom fitted for the best ocular option out there.
In one visit, I popped in (read: had to have the young man pop in this newbie’s eyes), a new pair of contacts, for a week’s test drive, and was merrily on my way, within the hour. I came back a week later (again, conveniently on a mid week evening) and being only 98% satisfied by the visual clarity, was prompted by Dr. Bindal to try another pair, just slightly adjusted. A week later, 100% clear, I was in love with soft contacts. I put an order in, and walked out, thanking the A.V.A. crew for a great experience.
But it didn’t end there. (In)conveniently, I left my brand spankin’ new lenses at my family’s house, right before a major business trip. Bespectactled for a business meeting? No thank you! Dr. Bindal and his staff didn’t hesitate to give me a trial pair to hold me over until my new lenses arrived (while I was out of town). *

Uh-​mazing.
Get your glasses and lenses right here folks. Hometown feel with hot-​stuff glasses, phenomenal service near the metro!

A new optical has opened in Rockville in the place of the old Village Eye Center which closed down earlier this year.
They have kept the original fixtures and the look of the place is very similar to what was there before. It is cleaner and newly painted which is nice. The guy who was inside was helpful while I looked around at glasses.
They have only been open for a little while so the Doctor is not there very often. They will take all insurances which is good. They have nice frames but nothing that is very unique or hard to find. Lots of known brands.
I hope they do well.
