My favorite Thai spot in RVC… The duck wrap appetizer is fantastic !(on a seperate menu) And for my main course… they never do me wrong with the Drunken spicy noodles

Definitely go to Tum Thai for great Thai food. Décor & Ambiance This spot is great for an intimate dinner/date. The lighting is dim, the décor is sleek and modern. I especially love how the restaurant looked very clean. Service The staff was very attentive and friendly. Food This is really what you want to know, right? Well, I ordered Pad Thai and Chicken Satay. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. The pad thai was not greasy, nor was the chicken satay greasy. I’ve had bad experiences at other places. Boy am I relieved to have found this restaurant. The pad thai had many sprouts in it, which added a delicious freshness and crunch to the dish. The chicken satay had that delicious grill flavor to it. I’m definitely going back.

It took me a while to write this review considering that I frequent this restaurant. Well, let me start by saying that the food here is simply delicious. I usually order Pad Thai, which is perfectly made here. I always order all of my plates mild and they do a great job at keeping up with your spiciness preference. I also had the Yellow Curry(mild) and it was beautifully served and tasted great. Keep in mind that this is a BYOB restaurant(bring your own booze!) The service is phenomenal. The waiters are very attentive and are always going around refilling your water glass or simply inquiring whether there is anything else you might want or need. Definitely a great place to have a nice lunch and/or dinner. Also, the prices are SO affordable. Last time I was here I ordered two Pad Thais(one with Tofu and the other one with Chicken). I also ordered an appetizer and one Iced Thai Tea. It all came down to $ 30(not including tax!) Seriously, that is such a great price considering the quality of the food here. Lastly, the decoration is simple yet breathtaking. It really gives this place a fancy yet genuine touch.

Continues to be our very favorite restaurant on the Island… and most certainly our favorite Thai choice. Worth the trip down to Rockville Center and small parking challenge. Simply the best, never disappointing with flavors and spice right on. Elegant setting with full glass to watch the pedestrians stroll by. Attentive service yet never intrusive. Last night we had 3 of the whole fish dishes at our table, one more gorgeous than the next. Yom Ped, duck salad is just perfect as was the crispy pork belly. Duck rolls, mango and avacado salad, spring rolls… all hits. The noodle or curry dishes are always a favorite, our family enjoying the vegetable options best. Wished we could find a place just like Tum Thai closer to home, but always willing to take a ride for exceptional cuisine. Accepting a reservation and BYOB make Tum Thai a winner all around.

Absolutely loved the decorations of the restaurant! We had the fried calamari for an appetizer and unfortunately, it was not so great.(It was plated in such a cute way too) The calamari was really hard, not chewy, but just very, very stiff. And there wasn’t much taste to them either — except when dipped in the given sauce. But luckily, our entrees were great! We had the Thai basil fried rice and the spicy noodles. Both had great flavor and just the right amount of spice.

Picked up my sister from jfk and decided to grab some dinner not too far away. Found this recommended on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. The restaurant has a very cool ambience and the staff was friendly. All of the food came out very fast and was delicious. Would recommend pot stickers, pad Thai, and basil chicken curry. My sister really liked the Thai iced coffee. Would definitely return here.

The décor is lovely and so much more modern than the thai restaurant that was here before Tum Thai. I love the chandelier and bird cages against the backdrop mural of Thai buddhist art. Really calming vibe and great design work. For appetizer we got the Duck Roll which is a wrap with crispy duck and some vegetables with an orange dipping sauce. It was really good. I shared it with my mom who said the last time she got it it was more tender as opposed to crunchy. I enjoyed it though. I ordered chicken pad thai with extra veggies for a 2 $ up charge and it was tasty as well. When I asked for hot sauce they brought over a little caddy with all different types of sauces to add to the dish which was cool. The only reason why I give this restaurant 3 stars is because of the service. There were 3 servers/bussers working and although 2 were super sweet, the one who was our main waiter seemed pushy. I work as a server as well so I pay close attention to service at restaurants. I couldn’t tell if he was trying to be attentive or pushy but when our third party finally arrived he wouldn’t leave our table side until we ordered. We told him we would need a couple of minutes and he took a couple of steps back, but with the restaurant being small as it is, and only 2 other tables occupied, we would have appreciated a little more space and time to decide our order rather than have him hover so closely until we were ready to order. It was a little uncomfortable. If the restaurant is packed or it was a friday night i’d understand because table turn is quick, but it was a slow thursday. No wine beer or liquor here! BYOB!

Really enjoyed the food – great presentation, flavor and freshness. I had the pananag curry with forbidden rice. We tried several appetizers and all were tasty. The service was prompt, if not overly attentive. The restaurant is small, but atmospheric, and it gets packed for dinner. Municipal parking lot located down the block

Tum Thai is home to some really unique décor features: chandeliers and candles in bird cages hanging from the ceiling, beautiful branches with gold leaves scattered throughout, and an intricate black and gold painting along the back wall. For lunch, I was unable to decide between noodles and curry so I went with the Kao Soi(noodle curry) with chicken, a perfect combination of the two. The presentation was phenomenal, portions were generous, and broth was bursting with flavor. Our waiters and waitresses were very polite, attentive, and did everything with a smile. I have no complaints about Tum Thai Cuisine and look forward to coming back again soon!

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the service is good. The food is good, but still doesn’t match the flavor/value of Queens hotspots. The Tom Kha soup was good, but lacked something… it needed more ingredients — maybe cilantro or galangal or chicken. The basil eggplant was good, but the eggplant was a little undercooked for my taste. Unfortunately the spring rolls while fresh and crunchy were very bland. The curry sauce was delicious as it should be, but there wasn’t enough of the Thai rice(very good) to soak it up. To get another small ramekin of the rice would cost $ 2 and that was not a turn on for me. Place is good… but it reconfirms for me that I need to go to Queens to get the best bang for the buck.

Love this place! Came here for a birthday dinner with the family and the staff was SO nice and accommodating. They were also really friendly and fun. The food was awesome as well — we started with the spring rolls and papaya salad which was amazing. Then we all got different dishes including pad thai, spicy noodles(they are delicious, but not that spicy), panang curry, and sautéed garlic vegetables with meat. The shrimp, beef, and squid were all really tasty and cooked great. Lastly, the décor is really cool in the place so it creates a fun vibe. oh, and did I mention, it’s BYO!!! We brought a huge bottle of wine and they came and served it and there was no corkage fee which was awesome. overall, this was a really great experience and I am DEFINITELY coming back

See Lisa E’s review. Food and atmosphere were great, service attentive. BYOB, so plan ahead so you aren’t frantically searching for an «adult beverage» on Christmas Eve! I would give this restaurant 5 stars for the mere fact that all 3 of my teens ate well and actually got along(magic Thai spics?). Addendum: Lisa E. forgot to mention 2 things — the wow factor of the Fried Ice Cream– the waitress asked how high we would like the flames to which I replied«just short of setting off the sprinklers»! and the free lychee iced tea with a Facebook check-in and 5% discount with a Unilocal Check-in.

Unfortunately, I have to downgrade Tum Thai Cuisine to 3 stars. I initially came when they first opened and have been back a couple times. I was pleased with the food before but my more recent visits were just underwhelming. Simply put, the food is too bland to be considered Thai and portions were small and unsatisfying. And by small I mean I got the chicken and Chinese broccoli but it was mostly veggies with hardly any chicken and no spice at all… Same situation with the pad see ew and pork. The chicken curry puffs appetizer and vegetable soup were good/standard. If for some reason I find myself here again, I will get 2 orders of the chicken curry puffs for my meal and call it a night. It may be unfair to compare Thai on Long Island to Thai in Queens but this just wasn’t cutting it. I would rather the extra drive, traffic, and parking difficulty to get REAL Thai food in Queens. Tum Thai certainly isn’t a bad choice when in the area but it’s not a good choice if you’re a fan of Thai and have try authentic dishes in the past. This is a watered down version made suitable for the Long Island palate. The restaurant is still as beautiful as when they first opened and service has always been excellent. Probably the most aesthetically appealing Thai restaurant I’ve been to. Also, BYOB. Also, very affordable(as most Thai restaurants are)

TUM is definitely a Thai restaurant dishing out wholesome eats and offering both a Chic atmosphere and B.Y.O.B! This is a very intimate restaurant featuring caged chandeliers, gold and black décor creating a sensual and seductive aura. Smooth Jazz and Parisian music sets the tone. When I sat down to browse the menu I was alarmed that there was no cocktail menu, only to later find out this is a Bring.Your.Own.Bottle restaurant!!! Now that’s unique! You don’t see that everyday. I ordered the chicken Massaman Curry. Very flavorful, rich and full of vegetables. The serving they gave for rice was extremely small. Smaller than most. I had a large bowl of curry left to bring home. The service was great, waiters were friendly. Menu items are priced just right and portions are adequate. We were celebrating a birthday so we ordered the flaming fried ice cream and fried bananas. This is a great place for an intimate dinner. Come well equipped with your wine bottle for a start to your sensual night.

Nice Thai spot in RVC. Very inviting décor and the food was yummy. I ordered the pad Thai and a spicy noodle. I also tried two appetizers and they both were great. Their chicken Satays don’t melt in your mouth like Philippe’s or Red Stixs but they’re still tasty. BYOB. that’s my only reserve however there’s a liquor store a few blocks down. You get more liquor for your money this way anyway but some people might consider it an inconvenience. The service you get here is A1. Very attentive and friendly servers. Depending on the night you come, parking in this area of RVC could be kind of hard!
