Sierra Soapstone Marble & Granite

I would have to say that we had an awesome countertop experience with Sierra Soapstone. I shopped around and I felt comfortable with their bid so we went in to the shop and met with April, She’s a busy multitasker that really knew her product and answered all of our question, helped us pick out our slab (which they had in stock) and she was also quick to make changes as we adjusted our design.
Rod (the owner) came out to measure and make the template. Good dude and gave us suggestions on a couple ideas we were not originally considering. (window sill, drain board and runnels) My wife wanted them immediately, I wasn’t sure… now that they’re in, I’m glad we did it
Kyle and Mike came out to install. They showed up on time and were super cool. They were clean, efficient, good humored and patient with a couple homeowner watching them work. They did a super job and we couldn’t be happier.
I ended up getting about 5 estimates and did my research. I’m definitely happy with my choice.

If I could give 10 stars I would. Absolutely wonderful company to work with. April guided me every step of the way in finding the perfect piece of soapstone for my newly remodeled kitchen island. We even waited a couple of weeks for a «perfect piece» to come off the dock so I would have full comparison at all available. Once the perfect piece was identified, things couldn’t have gone more smoothly. The installation was painless and the installer was very personable and helpful with the care of my new beautiful soapstone island top. Couldn’t be more pleased. It makes the entire kitchen. Just gorgeous! I also have to say my job was very small compared to many and I was given the same attention and care as if I was spending thousands! Great company. Use them!

Every step along the process was fantastic. Remodeling can be stressful and thank goodness that Sierra made this part enjoyable. Everyone was professional, helpful and knowledgable about the product! I wholeheartedly agree with all the reviews already posted. I met April at the Hayward location and was pleasantly surprised by her extensive knowledge. I appreciated not feeling pressured since this is a big purchase. Thank you Sierra, and looking forward to my next kitchen remodel!

Back story: had bad experience with pacific crest granite in northern ca. Spoke to Rod regarding the problems and got advise. Rod went out of his way to come to my hm. (6 hours away)
He was professional, very knowledgable about soapstone and honest. Thanks to Rod and April we settled the issues. I would recommend Sierra Soapstone in a heart beat. Great guy great service great employees. He knows his stuff. Thumbs up all the way!

Customer service, professionalism, friendly attitudes — not to mention a great quality product made for a fabulous experience with Sierra Soapstone. From our first visit with April, who knows the stone like the back of her hand, to Tai, who made the template, to the owner, Rod, and the two man installation team (regrets for not remembering their names!), the company cohesion and process worked like clockwork. Our 1930’s kitchen looks amazing (completed photos to come) with these beautiful soapstone countertops. Would we use Sierra Soapstone again? In a heartbeat! And we recommend them to anyone looking for a beautifully made and installed, gorgeous natural countertop. Thank you!

This company represents values I thought didn’t exist anymore. The home we bought in Sacramento 18 months ago had an amazing kitchen renovation that was maybe 5 years old. We had an issue with the sink and called the previous owner just to find out who had installed it so we could call them to get it repaired. Within 24 hours, Sierra came out and fixed it – no charge! We never expected that. This is a company that stands by it’s work.

Sierra Soapstone recently fabricated and installed River Bordeaux granite counter tops in our home. Initially my husband and I thought they just did soapstone which we decided was not the right product for us. It is true they don’t sell granite but we were advised they will cut and install many different types of stone. We purchased our granite elsewhere and Sierra Soapstone arranged to have the stone delivered to their facility. They set up the appointments with us to tear out our existing tile counters and to create a template from which to cut the granite counters, and came back to install them within 2 weeks. The counters are beautiful! The workmanship is excellent. The employees are wonderful to work with. We highly recommend Sierra Soapstone.

The real test of contractor is not how things are when everything is perfect, but what happens when there is a problem. After driving up from the Bay Area and meeting Rod and April, we elected to have them bid on and install soapstone in our kitchen. Unlike most contractors, the bid was sent when they said it would be, they were quick to respond to questions, and showed up for measurements and the install on the dates stated up front. (I can’t tell you the number of times I have dates rescheduled).
Sierra’s installers were nice and worked hard to keep the dust down to a minimum. When the install was complete, we noticed a couple of small issues with the install. This is where Sierra really showed their true colors. When we called April, she didn’t argue, say the issues were normal, or provide the litany of other excuses that I have heard over the years, but instead said Rod would call shortly so we could discuss how to resolve them. Within an hour Rod called and offered two different solutions (both of which were acceptable), and the matter was quickly resolved.
So in short, we have beautiful counters and had the fortune of dealing with a company that actually made the construction experience pleasurable.

Sierra soapstone did a beautiful job with my soapstone counters ! Rod was informative, patient and honest with his opinions. The office staff were all helpful, professional, and flexible. The installation crew were prompt, professional and clean with their work! Their prices were competitive and selection of slabs were plenty :)
Using soapstone was my first decision in the remodel process, and every decision after (omg. So many) was based on that! I am absolutely thrilled with the final product!

Sierra Soapstone was fantastic. Price was much more reasonable than some of the local places in SF (where we were) and Rod gave us much better service as well.
We were nervous about the greenish slab soapstone we were looking at and the very prominent veining, but it was definitely the right choice. It aged to dark charcoal in no time (we stopped having to do monthly/​every other month mineral-​oil treatments after maybe 5 or 6 times.
We did all our countertops and fireplace. Rod came out at convenient times and did all the layout measuring, brought back the GIGANTIC slabs (35 – 40 feet in just 3 pieces). fantastic install job. AND we even had them recycle our old kitchen marble into a bathroom vanity (we ordered sinks online — shipped to Rod and he installed them, did cutouts etc.
everything Just looks incredible .
and the soft-​nature of the stone (easily scratched chipped) really wasn’t as bad as i thought. scratches just wear away without even doing anything to them. and there’s just no countertop that’s better.

We started off looking at all the same Granite Marble Places in San Leandro and the surrounding industrial areas here in the bay area. Everything was mostly the same and of low quality. Stuck in the late 80’s and 90’s feel. Our designer wanted us to have a look at Soapstone! The one place here in the SF/​Bay Area were too high in price: wanted you to pay for the whole slab and whatever waste, pay for template fees and other adds. The stone is beautiful but we almost lost our hope there. Lucky we did a search on Unilocal and found Sierra Soapstone. We called them and they called back and said we could meet with them on a SUNDAY! At 8 am! Which worked perfect for us!
We drove from San Ramon to Rocklin and got there right at 8 am and was met there one minute later by Ashley. This being a sunday she gave us the royal tour and showed all the slabs in our color spectrum. She was very patient and kind answering all our questions and recommending her favorite. We felt so comfortable being there and working with her that we bought the slab (the actual amount of SQ FT not the unused portions) and then gave them an estimate for installation. Their price was so far below what was presented in SF that we new that we could have the counters we really wanted and not settle for the standard junk. Drive a little save a lot I guess. The estimate did not charge for templates and other little fees that were part of the other game.
John and assistant were prompt and clean with the templates and the delivery and installation of the counters. Coming from Rocklin to the east bay they were on time, very polite and educational with what they were doing. Comfort level very high.
I am sure my wife would agree that the counters are INCREDIBLE… our hum drum oak cabinets and cream tile countertops is now a French Country Masterpiece. Sage green antiqued cabinets (Old ones repurposed) and the Cinza green soapstone countertops! Wow! When we are 100% done will post up some pictures.
When I rub down the counter with the mineral oil at nite, I step back and am amazed at how beautiful the counters are.
Ashley actually sent pictures the day they were being cut. Communication was at our level and always accommodating and a request to have install on a Friday helped us so much with getting things put back together over the weekend.

What a pleasure to do business with this company. Rod went extra steps to provide us with both a great product and great customer service. Rod did our template after hours to help us hit an install date that we needed. After installing beautiful soapstone counters, Rod suggested a soapstone sill for our garden window. I liked the idea, but had tile guys coming back in the morning to install my back splash. Rod custom made a sill that night and came back in the morning and installed it, before my tile guy showed up. The counters and sill are beautiful! I highly recommend Sierra Soapstone.

Rod and his team just completed our project in San Mateo. We are delighted with the finished product. We are also delighted with the entire process. Rod is a generous and knowledgeable educator. He patiently answered all of our questions and even answered those we should have asked, but didn’t. He was super helpful and went the extra mile to find us just the slabs that we wanted. He even pointed out the minor cabinet scratches that occurred during installation. Most contractors would wait for you to spot them. I was delighted as he told us upfront prior to install which pieces would be difficult to set. Hence, I was prepared for it. By the way, the «scratches» are so minor that I never would have noticed them. Good pricing and great communication throughout.
