I’ve been taking all my BMW’s to this shop for years now, staff is very friendly & accommodating. Pricing is so reasonable you wouldn’t think you were paying to repair a BMW. Phil is the best mechanic I’ve met, & has a crazy amount of product knowledge. I wouldn’t trust anyone else to touch my car
I recommend this shop 100%, everyone is honest & won’t pull a fast one on you. Dave runs a good shop.

I bought a used BMW X5, for what I thought was a steal.
Soon after, it failed on me big time.
My brother had previously come here for some repairs so he recommended them to me.
Dan and Dave were very honest, very professional and very knowledgeable. They answered all of my questions, and checked in with me whenever they could.
This is hands down the best shop to balance quality, affordability, and dependability.

I just had some work done on my sons 2000 VW Golf at Performance Motor Works. I couldn’t be happier with the work and professionalism that we had here. After the work was completed we had a little issue but Dan, the service manager went out of his way to make everything right. By the time we were finished we were very satisfied and will be returning here for all the work and oil changes on my sons Golf. Joel and Dan are great!

Maybe I’ll get some attention if I post this review. Though doubt I would ever go back. Anyway, I was looking for a local place to have my Mini serviced and do some performance enhancements. My initial experience was great! I dealt mostly with Joel who is a great kid and you can tell really likes his job and the owners. I upgraded some brake pads and thought this was a fair test to see if they stuck to their estimate and that they were «legit». I was very happy and thought I had found my shop.
My second experience, however, has been a lesson in total frustration and lack of response. I called and spoke to Dave on a Wednesday morning to schedule another engine modification. Afterward I realized I hadn’t asked for an estimate like I had requested the first time. So, I called back. Since I had purchased the parts to be installed myself, he asked that I send him the information so he could properly estimate the installation. I emailed him the link to the parts as soon as we hung up. Two days later that Friday I called and spoke to Joel and told him I hadn’t heard anything from Dave, no reply to my email or anything. Joel said someone would get back to me by the end of the day. No communication.
So, the long weekend comes and goes and I don’t bring the car in to do the installation on that followingTuesday since I didn’t get an estimate or any call at all. I call and speak to Joel again who apologized and said he would tell Dave. Still no communication.
Guys, if you can’t do my installation, then tell me. I’ll go somewhere else. Dave appears to be a really decent but…

I took my 2009 Audi S3 here for a problem with my thermostat that was causing a check engine light. They were able to find the problem and do the repair and now my car runs awesome. We had a small issue later in the day after picking up the car that was unrelated to the repair they had made. With no questions, they took the car in and fixed the problem at no charge. Thanks guys.

I recently moved cross country and I’m proud to say that I am a PMW customer. Good, honest shop. Fair prices for comparable shops willing to work on late model German cars.
They know my finicky BMW e90 inside and out. Always work well with my insurance. Comfortable waiting area. Friendly people.
Anyone still going to the dealer post warranty is just getting ripped off, not to mention, I’ve been to the local dealers… they are not even close with regard to actual service.

I have been taking my 2005 BMW M3 convertible to PMW for about a year now. I used to patronize another independent shop but have since moved my business to Performance Motor Works. This shop is amazing! Excellent work, decent prices, and a very knowledgeable staff make for a pleasant experience in having work done on my Bimmer. I would recommend this shop to anyone with a German vehicle. One more thing. I called with questions while attempting to do some repairs on my car and Dan was extremely helpful, answered my questions, and gave me the answers that were necessary to complete the repair. Too bad 5 stars is the maximum. I’d give them a 10 if allowed!

This place, hands down, the place to be for any type of euro vehicle. this is the go to shop whenever I have any type of service to be made. Dave and Dan genuinely care about the car and the customers. So my fuel pump was having problems. First reaction, take it to performance. These guys called BMW, turned out I had a warranty on the piece (which I had no idea) and let me know i could get it fixed for free! This is only one example of the genuineness of the gentleman, and the quality of their customer service that many other places lack. Performance motor work over all other places.

I needed to take my 2011 VW GTi in for the 40k service. I had already checked on Unilocal and other places to see if I could find info about Performance Motor Works and any other shops in the Sacramento/​Roseville area. I am really glad I decided to go with PWM.
Yes, it saved me money but the other big part about it is customer service. Go to the stealerships and you’re just the next customer in line. Thanks guys, you now have another loyal customer.

Top notch quality auto service facility, Dan the parts and service director is almost an encyclopedia of knowledge and is always willing to take his time and describe to you the details/​components of what service your car needs and why. Very responsive, honest, and trustworthy group of guys work here, they cleaned up my intake valves on my gti to perfection. My car runs like new again and they were able to do it $ 400 cheaper than any other vw dealership or independent auto service shop around.

Bought a used 645ci, went in for their new customer special, Dan at the counter did a great job and knows his Beamers. Told me exactly what to expect from these cars, highly recommended. Will be taking my 6-​series here for all future repairs and maintenance.

My family and I can confidently call ourselves a BMW family, and Performance Motor Works has been our go to shop for years. They have accommodated our every need, even allowing us to use their loaner e28 5 series. When I had them replace the belts on my e39 5 series they allowed me to provide the parts, which is rare to find among repair shops. They explain issues in easily understandable language, and are willing to provide advice for the do-​it-​yourselfer. Needless to say I am a loyal customer of Performance Motor Works.

Honest and capable shop. I spin my own wrenches but just didn’t have the time to deal with whatever was ailing my 2006 Mini Cooper S Convertible.
Pulling away from a stop briskly it just started freewheeling like the engine and transmission were disconnected from each other. I took a peek and the halfshafts were intact. No crunchy or grinding noises so I assumed the gearbox internals were likely OK. I popped the airbox and confirmed that the shift linkage cables were fine. Hmmm. At this point I’m thinking I stripped out the differential or maybe spun the center out of the clutch friction disc. I was hoping for the latter because it would be cheaper.
So I ordered up a new Valeo clutch kit: disc, pressure plate, flywheel, throwout bearing and bolts as I toyed with the idea of installing it myself. I knew a cheapo clutch was installed right before I bought the car a year and a half ago, so it seemed the most likely problem. I was also getting an occasional groan when pulling out in the morning which I believed to be the driver’s halfshaft. Had one on the shelf waiting to find the time to install it.
Had it towed to their shop with the notion I’d be paying for 10 + hours of labor blah blah blah for a new clutch install. In no rush and out of town I return to a call from them. Car is ready. The halfshaft splines stripped out and it was spinning internally. A really unusual failure, which I missed on a quick glance. Grand total…$ 330. They also diagnosed an intermittent TPS monitoring and ABS failure as a couple of faulty ABS sensors. I’ll take care of those myself.
Bottom line, I got a very fair price for honest competent work. They could easily have gone ahead and swapped out the clutch — a MUCH bigger $$$ job on this car and I would’ve been none the wiser. They didn’t. Honest shop, good work, fair price.

One of the best BMW shops in the area. Dave is great to work with and the techs there know there stuff. Remus and Phil are the best techs you can have work on your car. Performance is also one of the few places that can load CSL software on to E46 M3’s thanks to Dan.
If you had to take advice from a stranger, this is the BMW shop to use. I do not take my full BMW CSL to just any shop and Dave has earned my trust.

Been coming here for years. They take excellent care of our BMW’s and are as good as it gets. Delivering top notch services, excellent customer care and go above and beyond to do it right.

I cannot say enough positive things about Performance Motor Works in Rocklin! They are professional, courteous and very knowledgeable about «the business»! I just have to compliment Dan on what he does, he is truly AMAZING and a very knowledgeable and honest businessman!!! My M5 was taken in there and he thoroughly explained to me what needed to be done «now» and what could «wait» until later. I truly appreciated his honesty! When I picked my car up it was fixed when they said it would be and ran perfectly! Great job PWM!!!

I took my BMW to Performance Motor Works for the first time recently, and they were great! The BMW dealership had quotes me $ 15,000 to fix a leak in the engine. Of course I wanted a second option. Performance Motor Works said that there was no leak in the engine, but that I did have a leak in my transmission. The cost to fix was substantially less than the $ 15K BMW quoted me. I will definitely use them again.
I find them to be honest and easy to work with.

I’ve been taking my car here for the last three years. Their service is excellent and very reasonable. A very clean shop. They are very friendly and will give you a ride if needed. The only reason I don’t give them the fifth star, is they took my license plate frames off and put their business ones on without my consent. They did put mine back on after I informed them of it. I would highly recommend them for their great service and price though.

Received the dreaded DMV Renewal with ‘Smog Required’ on it in early November. I was not looking forward to this since I’ve had the «Check Engine Soon» light on for about two months on my wife’s BMW 540i. There is no way that car would pass the smog with that light on. The thought of taking it to a dealer (Roseville BMW) was not an option since I take no pleasure in getting reamed. And believe me I’ve gotten reamed few times from the said dealer. So, when I came across this place while searching for a non-​dealer BMW service operation, I’ve decided to give them a try and quietly hoped that I find a service home for my wife’s Beemer.
The operation is modest with small front office and what seems like 4 – 5 lifts in the back. Dealt with owner Mike when I checked in and he rattled off few possible reasons for the ‘Check Engine’ light. He gave me a diagnostic estimate of $ 125 for the first hour. He stated that if the problem can be solved within that hour with no parts then that is all I pay. Cool! His partner Dave gave me a ride home to Lincoln. That was 8AM. Got a call back from Mike around 11AM that the problem was ‘Faulty Cam Sensor’ and he states the car would eventually stop if not replaced. Cost: $ 350 for parts and labor. Not bad, I was hoping that the problem could be fixed for less than $ 1K. Just then I remembered that the ‘A/​C fan’ would come and go during the hottest portion of this past Summer. He had an idea there too and told me that the parts and labor should run around $ 300. Told him to go for it.
By at around 5PM, I was picked up by Dave again from home and my wife’s car was ready to go home with me. Unfortunately they do not do Smog so I had to get that done elsewhere. Total damage to my wallet was $ 665. I gladly handed him the money.
