Leak Detectives

We noticed the auto fill valve on our pool running non-​stop coupled with unusually high water usage for a couple months. We contacted several leak detection firms, but Gary was the only one who promptly returned our call.
Given his great Unilocal reviews, we felt comfortable working with him and were very happy with the results. He worked us into his schedule and was able to find and resolve our issue in under an hour.
Awesome customer service, and we would definitely call Gary again if we ever needed his services in the future! He’s been added to my contact list…

I had a leak in my pool and it was losing an inch a water a day. I contacted Leak Detectives and spoke with Gary and we set up an appointment for the following week. He called the day before to confirm my appointment for the next morning. When he arrived, he listened to my concerns and explained the process of the steps that he would go through to find the leak. He was able to find and fix the pool leak within an hour. He also called a few days later after the work was completed to do a follow up on the repairs.

Nice guy, but he gave a lot of reasons not to leak check the drain at the bottom of the deep end. Didn’t find a leak so I am left with an inconclusive result for $ 300. Quite unsatisfied withe the result.

I’ve had a pool for ten years or so, and since I am the pool «leveler» I was starting to notice that I was having to level the pool more and more often. This is the third leak I’ve had since I put the pool in and I decided to use leak detectives this time based on internet reviews — this was a good move on my part.
Gary responded very quickly and was able to come out a few days after I called. He was very thorough and very patient with my small dog that did not appreciate his presence.
He diagnosed and fixed the leak, and suggested a long term fix that I may call him back for.
Gary is very pleasant, professional and honest. I won’t hesitate for a second to use him should a leak reappear in my pool. You shouldn’t either.

Gary has gone the extra mile to resolve our pool leak, and it was not a simple above ground fix. Gary is professional, extremely knowledgeable, and stands by his word. If I need help in the future, I’ll contact him again. If I hear of anyone who is having problems with their pool, I will certainly refer them to Gary!

We knew we had a leak because our pool water was dropping dramatically.
We read about Leak Detectives on Unilocal.The company had good reviews so we called. Gary returned our call immediately. (Another company listed on Unilocal took two days to get back to us… by then Gary of Leak Detectives had already come out!)
Since we have an in-​ground vinyl lined lap pool we felt pretty upbeat… how hard can this be… find the leak… patch it and ‘wa la’ done. Wrong! Gary found several nice size leaks and patched them… he even came out a second time to check on his patches which were holding. But even though our liner isn’t that old, we found out it’s just the nature of the beast for a vinyl liner to eventually fall prey to the heat of the sun, weather etc even though we are careful and take good care of it. Push came to shove and we finally had to face the hard fact… we’d have to replace the liner ($$$$)…just too many little leaks throughout the liner. We replaced the liner a week later.
But we are completely happy with Leak Detectives… and would not hesitate to recommend them. Gary was careful, knows his craft and found the leaks. We just needed a new liner… Customer service is top notch.

Okay, so Gary came across my review and contacted me personally. He felt bad he couldn’t detect the leak, so he came over today with some newfangled technology to trouble-​shoot the leak again.
Turns out the leak is in the pool return — some technical term that my husband understands but won’t ‘splain it to me properly.
Anyway, bottom line, we figured out where the leak is happening. Turns out it is actually cheaper to fill the pool more often than to fix the leak. Despite this, it’s still good to find this out! Kind of like when you know you’re not feeling well and no one can figure out why and then you get a diagnosis, but you still have the same problem.
Bottom line, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

UPDATE: So I got yet another message from Gary and he recommended a product to use to correct the leak and explained what a pool return was since my husband didn’t do a good job of explaining this to me. Thanks Gary for taking time out of your day to look after your customers!

I don’t write a lot of reviews, and I really should. However, the amazing service that I received from Gary is top notch and I feel I should really share what a great find this company is.
Many places treat you like you were at a bank (just another number). However, Gary, is the real deal. He’s listens to your concerns, explains what he can do in detail and doesn’t rush you through any decisions. He discusses with you what he finds, explains the solution in detail, and explains everything to the every day (non technical) person in terms that even I understood.
Gary came out to my house, explained what is going to do. He tested my pool for a leak and was very through and methodical in his testing. He found the leak, patched, and was on his way. Of course, there’s a bit more too it. He had to don his scuba gear to get at the leak — something I was expecting to pay a lot more for — but his prices were reasonable.
Throughout the whole time, I never felt rushed in my decisions regarding the leak, and was fully informed on what was going.
