Chris Taylor Painting

They didn’t do a bad job, just not a great job. The prep work was lacking. The tried painting over paint that was peeling. Why they didn’t scrape it off and do it right I don’t know. They also took much longer then they said. I understand being busy, but it got frustrating after a week and a half. For the price, I shouldn’t have to be calling him everyday to get answers on why stuff is not done. It got done, but to many painters out there to have to deal with the problems.

I bought a new house and it had several colors on the walls that were not my taste, I decided to have the house painted on the inside and met with 3 different contractors. One of them being Mr. Taylor at Chris Taylor Painting. When he came to my home, he was very nice and professional, we walked through the entire house as I had yet to move in. I discussed with him in each room, what I was looking for. Mr. Taylor assured me that what I wanted was doable. i had already met with 2 other painting contractors and was very open with the prices they had quoted me. Mr. Taylor told me that he could paint the whole house and make it look fresh and new. He spent about an hour at my house going through. He then quoted me a price that was well below the other two contractors. It took me a few days to decide as I wanted to ensure that I did as much research as I could. Mr. Taylor was licensed and had sold his business very well. I felt I was in good hand’s. I had reached out to Mr. Taylor several times prior to his starting work on my house to indicate my concerns about how much he would have to paint. He told me, «no problem, I will have my guys there and we can get it done in 2 ½ days. I was on a very tight time frame due to my move in date and when my floors were being put it in. It turned out that my floor was put in early. I called Mr. Taylor to let him know that the house was available if he wanted to start early he could. He was scheduled to be there on a Monday, but was able to start the Thursday before… Great, I thought… His team/​Him started on Thursday and did not complete until the following Tuesday night… When I met Mr. Taylor at the house on Thursday to start the project, he indicated that he needed another 200.00 dollars for the ceilings even though I had expressed not only verbally, but in writing my concerns that it was more of a job than he thought. However, he kept assuring me that it would be fine. I agreed to the additional 200.00 dollars because I wanted to be fair and pay market value for a job I could be proud of in my new home… WELL… the below is a listing of the things that happened that as a small business owner, I would have gone to great lengths to not do and are very minor.
1. His staff, left my lights and doors unlocked every day after they finished, they used my previous drapes as drop cloths :(. If I had not gone to check I would have had doors and electricity open and blazing. In addition, the first day they started, I went and bought a bunch of drinks and ice for them as it was hot…
2. I requested to have them turn down my AC which I graciously left on as it was hot outside and I wanted to ensure they were comfortable. Mr. Taylor indicated that «he has an employee who likes to crank up the A/​C when it is not his home» so I better set the temp for them and he would ensure they turned it off at night… This did not happen…
3. I did a walk through on Monday night with my friend as I wanted to ensure that Mr. Taylor and his crew had ample time to complete. When I walked through, none of the closets, nor cabinets nor bathrooms were complete. I sent Mr. Taylor a text with the things, I was expecting to see and noted that he may have planned to already take care of them. He never responded… Instead, I received a call from him saying he never agreed to the bathrooms or closets or doors. I reminded him of our walk through of the house and the discussions we had… He merely said oh. yes… and that he would touch up the areas that had heavy traffic… I said fine and I would read his estimate… I did and realized that the bathrooms were not on there. fair enough and said then don’t do it… however the touch up all walls/​common area was…
4. When Mr. Taylor came Tuesday evening to do a final walk through and take final payment, there were several items that needed fixing… His crew took a chunk of drywall at the top of stairs, he did not fix the cut in the molding, some baseboards were not done, tear off from the paper had pulled paint off the wall. The wall above the cabinets were not finished, this he acknowledged on two different occasions and yet still not fixed. His way of fixing it was to use semi-​gloss on matte finish and indicate I could buy more paint… He was even so kind as to order it for me so I could get his «discount» vs. paying for the can of paint he needed to make the fixes.
5. Materials, aside from using my drapes for drop clothes, they never covered all the carpet or windows, so now I have paint stuck on my cabinets and windows… I have to have them re-​cleaned and hope that there is no permanent damage…
So all and all— The house was painted… however, I had to have someone else come back and fix it… My suggestion in the future would be to look past a pretty face and do an honest quote and then back it up..

Very professional and friendly! Chris came out and we showed him what we needed painting, we agreed on a very fair price, and then scheduled a start date for the work. He sent over one of his best detail painters, Ryan. They completed the job in just two and a half days. Excellent results. Chris came back during the process to make sure we were happy with how it was progressing. He also returned for the final walk-​thru.
We will use them again for future painting projects!

Chris Taylor Painting just finished up our job today. This was a rental house which was unfortunately rented to the «candle burning» parents of the century who not only decided to take it upon themselves to paint the doors and trim a God awful ugly blue, but also allowed their kids to draw on the walls and put hundreds of stickers all over the doors, walls, etc.
I called Chris randomly after searching the internet. He answered right away and was over at the house within an hour. He called me from the site and walked me through what it needed. I was honestly expecting to have to hire a carpenter to replace all the doors, base and trim in the house. Chris explained that he could sand all the stickers off and save the doors. He gave me a price right over the phone which was extremely reasonable, especially in light of having to fix drywall holes and all the smoke/​soot on the walls and ceilings.
He was able to schedule our job about a week out, suggested paint colors and even corrected me when I thought he had made a mistake on the estimate indicating that he would paint the walls «Navajo White» and the trim/​base in «Swiss Coffee». Who would ever think that «Swiss Coffee» is actually the white and «Navajo White» is well… tan? Hello… Kelly Moore… did you name those on April 1^st?
Chris showed up as scheduled, completed the job and sent me photos as they were finishing up. He even had his crew rehang the closet doors that the tenant had removed. I would highly recommend Chris Taylor Painting and will most definitely use them again!

Taylor Painting just finished up painting our house — inside and out — about 1.5 weeks ago. They did a great job, were very detailed/​thorough, and very accommodating as we made two changes to paint color while they were in process of painting. The core team was Jeremy, Ryan, and John, and they were all timely, friendly, and hard-​working. Our house has a lot of trim, which resulted in a lot of taping/​covering, but the guys did a great job. We would definitely recommend Taylor Painting.

Fast, professional and reasonably priced. Chris, Seth, Erik and John did great work. I had the whole inside of my house painted; ceilings, baseboards, walls, cupboards and doors. They did a great job in under a week and are coming back to do the exterior in a few weeks.

Business must be great, but can’t say so much for his customer service. My husband and I both called and left messages but we never got a return call. Guess we will be taking our business elsewhere.

Chris and his crew gave more than I expected. My house looks great thanks to Chris’ expertise and his ability to work with me and give me exactly what I wanted.

Chris was great to work with and is very easy to communicate with. He called me back the same day, showed up every time on time, and he and his crew are polite, clean up after themselves and best of all, do great work for the best price! I will use him and recommend him whenever a painting job is needed!

As cliché as this sounds, Chris Taylor Painting turned our new construction house into a home. I actually didn’t like the house until I walked in and saw how amazing the paint looked. It transformed the white box into a beautiful cool oasis.
If I only got one word to describe Chris Taylor and his crew it would be trustworthy.
We were building a home in Roseville but lived in the Bay Area, so I called Chris and he went to the model home and sent us a price quote. Then three months later he picked up our keys from the builder, painted our 2500 sq. ft home in 3 days and did it all to perfection!
It’s hard to trust people with the keys to your home, but Chris was a consummate professional. He gave regular updates on his progress and even sent a video when the paint was complete.
I truly cannot thank Chris enough for his amazing work!

Chris Taylor is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, his company has not only highly competitive rates, but is very professional and polite. My wife an I were in a bind for time and Chris accommodated us. He came in our new 2300 square ft house and set up fast. He never nicked or bumped our walls carrying in his equipment, and did an awesome job with his prep work. NO overspray got on our fixtures, lights, floors, cupboards, appliances or blinds. Most importantly the finished work of where he painted was outstanding. No runs, or touch up needed. Wow! Chris and his team were awesome to work with.
I needed a few areas of my house’s interior walls touched up, but I didn’t know the original color of the paint, so I expected to need to repaint the entire house. Chris stopped by to give an estimate, knew the color and brand of the paint just by glancing at it, and he did a swatch test to confirm his guess. So instead of a pricey whole-​interior paint, he only needed to touch up a few locations.
… by the way, I got quotes from two other local painters, and I told them about Chris’s guess for the paint color. They both refused to believe his swatch test and they tried to charge me for a whole house painting. My fourth estimate didn’t even show up. Bah.
Chris was early to every appointment we had, thorough with the final walkthrough, adhered exactly to his price estimate, and generally really sweet and friendly to work with. And … my house looks great now. Thank you, Chris!

From beginning to end we were extremely happy with Chris Taylor and his crew. We recently purchased a house that was going to need the entire inside painted before moving in. From the first time I talked to Chris on the phone I was impressed with how much time he took answering my questions and how friendly he was. He was very flexible working around our tricky time tables, willing to come do the initial estimate with only 30 minutes notice. He also worked hard to make me happy with a color that I was unsure about after it was on the wall. My husband and I were in the house doing other work the day his crew was finishing up and everyone was professional and friendly. Chris and his team did excellent work and were very well priced based on all the phone calls I made. The exterior of our house will need painting in a few years and I will definitely be calling Chris!

We purchased a home that had obscenely bright colors in the main living area. After getting quotes and meeting a few painting companies around town, I felt confident that Chris and his team where the right men for the job. Chris was warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional when he arrived to give an estimate. He gave me a bid right away after assesses my project and offered advice on a few key areas that I wouldn’t have thought about on my own.
After choosing a few colors Chris arrived with the color cards and gave me ample time to decide on what colors I would go with. In addition, he arrived a few days early to do prep work so that our house was ready to go the day of the job.
Chris’s team was professional, worked fast, did an excellent job. We were very pleased with not only how much the color changed our house, but with how nicely the job looked when finished. Chris even came back by the next afternoon to address a couple of concerns that I had.
It’s always hard to turn over home projects to the pros as you don’t know if they will truly follow through with what they promise. I can easily say Chris and his team were true professionals and we would recommend them.

They painted our home’s exterior and did such a great job! Chris e-​mailed the contract to us which was very well done and spelled everything out nicely… the way businesses are supposed to do things! And the price was amazing, especially compared to other estimates we had received. We are very happy with the end result and would recommend them to anyone!

Everything was kept clean, no paint splatters or spills, came back for minor touch up work considering the old age of my property and the wood. Even helped me in selecting the colors with great recommendations.
