Rude service and unprofessional. Was attempting to call them to inquire about cost of fence project, was put on hold for 20 minutes. Followed up by some off shore sounding answering service that wouldn’t know a 4×4 or 1×8 from a giraffe or a dancing bear. Waste of time to call for information if it’s coming from a non-​expert.

I would highly advise against this company. They are way over priced. As I got a quote for them to set 50 fence posts. And had all material and holes dug and they wanted 12 000 $ thats not a miss type. It ended up taking 8 hours to complete and that would have been about 900 $ an hour. If i would have gone with this company. Save your self from getting ripped off. Go somewhere else.

Felt it appropriate to update this post — After several months, the fence was faulty in many areas. The owner personally came to inspect and ensured all areas were prepared — Great follow through Dan!

I really regret that I ever met these guys. It has been over two weeks ago since they started my split rail white vinyl fence. First of all they bid the job and I accepted their price. I tried calling them every day a few days before they started the job to make sure everything was right. No reply. After starting the job and getting about halfway through the first day hi get an email from the office saying revised quote. It was $ 1,000 more than the original quote. I told them to stop the job and pull the post out. The owner got on the phone and they finally agreed to the same price. They did the work but had to redo a bunch of it because they put it in the wrong way. The worst part about all this is that the employees felt it was okay to argue with me. The owner came out with his assistant and said that the guy who gave me the original quote (the guy who was running my job) messed up and that’s why they no longer have him give proposals. Why then is he leading my job? After they were supposed to be done with the job I looked and saw that several of the white rails were damaged with big black scratches all over them. They argue with me on the phone and saying that I need to pay for the fence and that was «repair work». I told them when they replace the boards I would pay. The next day they said it was done but as I went out there there were still three boards that we’re not replaced The worst ones of course. Another phone call and again another argument on the phone with them telling me that they were replaced. I told the guy to come out here and look. He showed up 45 minutes later and saw exactly what I was talking about. As a licensed contractor myself I am amazed that these guys are still in business. A good price is not worth all the hassle that you get from this company. I would definitely not recommend them to anyone… well maybe an enemy. Oh yeah… as of this date i am STILL waiting to have the boards replaced.

I always consult Unilocal when contemplating projects like a new fence. After reading the reviews for Cal-​Sierra, I noticed that there were several extremely questionable reviews with one star ratings. These were not really reviews but intentional malicious slurs. The one with the photo of the «horrible fence» was a real joke — that was a great looking fence!
So I had them quote me on a 159′ wrought iron fence. After 2 emails and a 10 minute visit by Dan, we were good to go. They had a last minute cancellation and asked if we would like to get on the schedule for the next day!!! Wow, sure, we scheduled it. The plan was to set the posts in concrete one day and install the panels the next.
Miguel and his sidekick showed up right on time, I spend 5 minutes showing them what we wanted, and they got to work. 2.5 hours later there were 20 posts neatly installed.
The next day they welded the panels in place. I wish I could weld that well. I watched them do several very clever tricks that made for an exceptionally clean and professional result. 6.5 hours later all panels and two gates were in place. These guys were poetry in motion.

I called Cal-​Sierra Fence for an estimate. Called the office twice to ask a question about the estimate to start the project. Never received a phone call back. I went will another company.

Take the pickiest customer you have ever dealt with, and multiply it by 10 – that’s me!
I requested bids from 4 fencing places. I only got back two bids. Dan was responsive and willing to assist me in all of my concerns and requirements. He didn’t try to upsell, I knew exactly what I wanted. The «other guys» were more than double the price he quoted, and acted put upon that I would even call them in the first place.
When the day came to install the fencing and there was a slight delay in the crew, Robert and Jose arriving. Dan was immediately in touch with me to let me know and assured me they were on their way. Nothing worse than waiting around thinking you have been stood up! Through no fault on their part, they had to go to So. Sacramento to pick up the panels that weren’t delivered. Robert and Jose arrived and immediately began working. They were professional and answered all my questions throughout the day. Robert conferred with me on how I wanted the fence installed. I relied on him and his expertise as to what he recommended and I am certainly glad I followed his advice.
Dan is friendly and knowledgeable, and it is clear he expects that of his crew members as well. I couldn’t be happier, and when someone asks me and I need fencing done, CalSierra will be the phone number I call!

After countless hours and appointments with the competitors, I decided to call Cal Sierra Fence. I was given great customer service over the phone and when it came time to start digging, Dan and his crew were as professional as they come. I would highly recommend this company and it felt great supporting a local, family run business.

I had Cal-​Sierra Fence to replace the fence around my property and all I can say — great job! Not good, great! Guys showed up on time, were professional and gave me an idea when they might be done. Work was completed early and looks just like an advertisement picture does. Dan kept me up-​to-​date with all the scheduling, called a week or so ahead to confirm and once again the day before. Price was lower than the other few quotes I got and I doubt if I chose another company with a higher quote, that the fence could look better than it does now. As the star rating system goes — five stars, Woohoo! As good as it gets! Sure does. Thank you Dan!

Update: I took Dan, owner of Cal Sierra Fence, as well as my neighbor to court to sue them over the horrible fence… AND I WON!!! I have court documentation to show that the judge ordered in my favor. The judge saw pictures of Cal Sierra Fence’s work and literally said to Dan «I would throw gasoline on that fence and burn it down if that was my yard!» and «I would take a chainsaw to that fence». Since this was in Small Claims court in Placer County, I would assume it is public record of what is said in the courtroom, I invite anyone to review for themselves. I didn’t have to fight for the fence to be fixed, the judge was able to come to the conclusion without much input from me other than the pictures and documentation I provided. Not only did I win but I was awarded the replacement cost of a new fence. The judge asked if I was willing to allow Cal Sierra Fence to come back and fix the fence… unfortunately due to my experience thus far I declined that offer and instead took the money awarded to me and hired another company who came in and fixed the fence right and did a beautiful job.
Since then, I have received incredibly rude «anonymous» emails in retaliation for me suing as well as the well deserved poor review on Unilocal.I have submitted these emails to the Roseville PD.

I have had nothing but great interactions with Cal Sierra Fence. They have excellent customer service and do wonderful work — There are photos to prove it. Great family-​owned business.
