Baagan

Sorry, I used to like them. They have great Vegan food, but ever since moving to their new Rocklin location they have not gotten a single order of mine right. Every order they are slow and mess something up, even when I’ve ordered no more than 2 unmodified items from their menu. I once had the manager comp my entire meal because they messed up an order that took them almost 2 hours to resolve, but I’d rather have not had to complain in the first place.

Simply put, this is The best vegetarian place in the Sac area! ALL of their soups, sandwiches and wraps are delicious. I especially love the kale salad and the veggie wrap in spinach wrap with jalapeño hummus. Their drinks are good especially the peanut butter smoothie. Leaves you full, satisfied and feeling great.

GAVE ME LIFE!
Tried this place for the first time for lunch today. I told the very nice woman who took my order that I had no ideas on what to order and asked her for a recommendation. She was so sweet and after asking me a few questions we decided on the quinoa wrap with avocado and kalamata olives on the side. First off, the wrap is huge. I ate half and I’m full but really eager to eat the other half! This was one of THE BEST sandwiches I have ever eaten. I also had the iced tea which is herbal and sort of has a clove taste (but it doesn’t contain cloves). Anyway I highly recommend this place for food that is fresh and healthy and deeeeelish!!! I will be back. The restaurant was clean and bright and the service was very courteous. Didn’t give 5 stars because I’ve only tried this one item. Can’t wait to try more!

Great! Awesome! Amazing! So many words to describe my experience at Baagan.
Within my search for a healthy «joint» to hit up some lunch I came across Baagan.
The word Vegan, to a non-​vegan, can be a very stale and tasteless one.
However, I shared it with a few co-​workers and they all were willing to embark in this adventure along with me.
We enter Baagan, which happens to be very close by our workplace, and the atmosphere was that of a nice and clean restaurant.
Very colorful walls and their own line of product displayed through the lounge.
The staff was very attentive and nice.
I ordered the Tacos and didn’t think I was going to like them.
I also ordered a Piña Colada Cheesecake along with a Strawberry Lemonade.
We took our seats as we waiting for our names to be called.
The seats were really nice and comfortable. The tables were nice and clean, but could have been a little bigger to my taste.
Once we got called and I saw my food… I couldn’t believe this had no meat!
It was tasty, spicy and filling.
The chipotle sauce added a kick to it!
They were amazingly good!
Once those beasts had been chowed down by me, I moved onto the Cheesecake.
It was good! Too sweet for my taste, but it was good. Couldn’t believe it didn’t have any of the fattening things the regular one has.
My strawberry lemonade was good too! Too small of a cup in my opinion but it was very refreshing.
Overall, I will now make this my go-​to spot whenever I need to eat outside!
Can’t wait to go back and try new things!

This place is a MUST every time I visit the area. Food is delicious, and while a little pricey and VERY slow service, I always think it’s worth it.

We dropped by this place on our way back from Tahoe. The food was delicious. The Baagan Burger and the Quesadilla were especially great. The Kichari was mild and great for these tired travelers.

This place has GREAT food, but the wait is crazy! I took 1 star away for the long wait. Other than that, their food has always been fresh and delicious… and healthy!

Gave them another try again as promised by the owner they have changed the sprouts so i didnt see any dirty roots… I felt that this place has some great menu items and after being reviewed of my complaint the owners response was deserving to give it another try I can see that from the last encounter things have got up to speed and hopefully things work out for them the best on this business. Will I be back pretty sure I will, thanks for the response appreciate taking the time to hear your customers!

Hands down, this is the best vegan spot around. You don’t have to be a vegan to appreciate the flavorful foods Baagan has created. It’s no wonder why they were voted #1 Best Restaurant in the Sacramento News and Review and KCRA-​# A-​List in 2015!
We checked out their menu when they first opened on the other side of town, but we never made it over there, and their menu was small at the time. They have definitely added a lot more food to their menu and now they are in walking distance from our house.
We could tell as soon as our food came out, that it was all fresh and the combination of flavors went prefect together. Even the presentation was nice. As a food photographer, the presentation is the first impression. The restaurant is very clean and bright. It is perfect for lunch and dinner. I am very excited to go back and try more of the foods on their menu.
I highly recommend the Golden Warrior Coffee and the Peaceful Panda Coffee. My friend recommended the Golden Warrior coffee which has fresh pecan milk, turmeric, cardamom, and raw coconut sugar. Never in a million years would I think to add turmeric to my coffee. This was the best coffee I have had since Costa Rica. My husband ordered Peaceful Panda and we loved it.
We also ordered the Grilled Seasonal Panini and the Tomato Basil Pesto Sandwich with Avocado. I was going to originally order just the Multigrain bread, but we talked about the gluten-​free bread and I thought I would give it a try, after I was told it doesn’t taste dry or have the strange after taste like most gluten-​free bread have. Unfortunately, they ran out, so I will have to try it next time. Stay tuned!
The panini was delicious! The mushrooms complemented the arugula perfectly, with just enough finely shredded carrots to add to the flavor. My Pesto sandwich was so good! I am a sucker for pesto and they nailed it with this vegan pesto. The pesto wasn’t over powering at all, and I was able to taste the tomatoes, avocado and bread along with the basil pesto. It was all delicious.

Absolutely amazing, 5 stars all around. The service was excellent, the environment was welcoming and comfortable, and the food was superb. I ordered the velvet smoothie and the quinoa wrap with avocado wrapped with rice paper and my fiancé ordered the veggie burger with avocado. Every part of our meal was delicious and filling! As a new resident to the area, I’ll definitely be making this a regular treat!

We love Baagans! Everything is fresh and delicious. All of the soups are amazing and made from scratch. The staff is very friendly and they will accommodate special dietary needs. We have been eating here since they opened.

I took my mom here on mothers day. They were packed. Our food came relatively fast. It was really good. I ordered a shake. Oreo vegan shake. Not my cup of tea.

Good news, the people noise is back to a normal dB level, and, If you’re a fan of Bollywood movie soundtracks or massage parlor zen music, you’re in luck… Once again the food is good, colorful and well presented. The Prana Bowl, with its almost citrusy tomato broth enlivens the palate. The cashew sour cream finish would benefit from some chopped cashews as well, but still nice over brown rice. Adding avocado was a good call.
The Veggie Quesadilla was fairly spicy with the Cheesy Chipotle spread, but not «The roof is on fire» hot. The spinach herb tortilla was a more than adequate vessel for tranporting it’s vegan payload.
Food is no longer prepared «Chipotle Style» in front of customers, too bad, I like to see my Chanas and Pranas chillin before they’re off to work.
Overall a nice change of pace for a confirmed carnivore.

Got a quinoa wrap and almond smoothie to go. I’m not a vegan. But this food makes me okay without meat. Very cleansing.

First time here and I absolutely fell in love! Gluten free, vegan, raw, and so flavorful!!!
I’ve recently discovered in the past couple years that I had to change my diet to change my health and my life and so I love stumbling upon gems like this place. I’ve been to quite a few places but I have to say that this is one of the best places I’ve ever been to and loved everything I had. So I’ll usually go to places like this and order a handful of options and decide whether I like the place or not. Many places I can taste it’s healthy but not healthy, flavorful, and fulfilling like this place.
I’ve had experiences of some places where some dishes were too dry or too spicy or not flavorful enough. Desserts, if all natural, we’re kind of on the dry side or bland tasting.
Omg the brownie was to die for. It’s so hard to find a place that makes brownies with natural sugars and cacao instead of chocolate and still be moist and so sweet. I devoured it before I could even touch my entrées. It was smaller than expected but totally worth it.
The guy who helped me was super sweet, knowledgeable, patient, and helpful.
I was hesitant to get tea but I saw a stress tea and felt tired after work. I also know that ashwagandha is good to help cope with stress and so I ordered that. It was surprisingly really good even without adding any sugar or milk or anything to it. I’d def order that again and it even paired well with the brownie.
The red bean soup was also surprisingly good. I’m not sure I’m a fan of red bean but this place made me like it.
Their soup that they carry on hand everyday that starts with a K (I forgot the name) was pretty good too. It tasted even better after I had a taste of the red bean soup. I chose the red bean over that one because it just had a better taste for me at the moment. It’s what my tastebuds needed.
I would highly recommend adding avocado to the Chana dish if you like avocado. Made it taste so much better.
Everything is so fresh. They even have organic ketchup. ;) I believe everything is organic and pesticide free. I appreciate this place so much. Eating here will allow you to live a longer life if you choose to eat here over other non organic non vegan places. If I could eat here 5 times a week I would. Too bad I live so far. The price is def worth it and I’m def coming back even if I live 400+ miles away :)
I seriously liked every single dish I ordered. I took the quinoa wrap to go and haven’t tried it yet. I’ll update it after I take a bite later on tonight.

I don’t know how this made it to my list, but maybe it was because the raw nori wrap caught my eye. My friend and I came in to order that and the quinoa wrap. We added avocado to both with the additional charge of $ 1.49. We also got a free cup of kitchari– a type of porridge– thanks to the check in offer.
We both enjoyed the nori wrap. It was tasty and fresh. The quinoa wrap was filled with fresh veggies too, but had too much greens. I didn’t care for the spinach herb tortilla either as I felt it was thick. I’m glad I got to try the kitchari as I wouldn’t have ordered this if it wasn’t for the offer. It’s comfort food that warms the stomach. It was a healthy meal that I started the day out with that balanced my not so healthy food choices later on in the day.

Wow what a great place! Wish there was more restaurants like this one. Very high quality and fresh!
Walked in with my family, read the menu and couldn’t decide what to order. A little bit help from the cashier was a great help and suggestion.
We ordered:
Baagan burger: was extremely good, crispy out and soft inside. very light and still with full of taste. The patty made out of grilled vegetables and beans. With cashews dressing, lettuce and tomato.
Quinoa warp: I ordered the spinach herb tortilla filled with cooked quinoa, avocado, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, carrots, with spicy dressing. The warp was very colorful and fresh. The only thing I didn’t like was that the wrap was served cold.
Tuesday soup; lentils soup: The soup was good with strong curry taste.
Baagan food are 100% vegan, fresh vegetables and ingredients, super healthy.
They also sales spices, herb, tea and other healthy stuff.

Definitely a 1 star for Baagan, they are giving Vegan/​plant based food a bad name. It’s disappointing because I literally tried it 3 times, 3 different meals and they all sucked. They also use the same ingredients for the tacos and both burgers. I can make my own bomb vegan meals every day with all organic ingredients and them not blow nearly as bad at the $ 10 meals that you don’t get a side with (wtf?).
Secondly, the environment is not comfortable at all. Everyone’s super quiet unless there is a bunch of people there all at once, and it’s hella awkward because you can’t have a conversation without everyone hearing. The chairs are uncomfortable and the room just doesn’t feel right.
The customer service is bad too, they aren’t receptive (except the stoner white guy).
3 times not a charm here, my last burger here had waaaaay too much spices, not sure if it was jalapenos but I like spicy food but it wasn’t a good spicy, it was like a holy f$%@ I can’t eat this because it’s like eating a raw onion whole.
Anyways, I can’t recommend this because I’m a vegan and it purely disappoints. Check out garden to grill or maybe your own kitchen.

Prices have risen quite a bit since the first time I walked in here (Well, not the same spot anymore either, as they’ve moved to a new location 5 – 10 minutes from their old one.) My heart dropped when I pulled into their old lot a couple months ago and saw that it wasn’t there anymore. Sadness overcame me until I realized they were still around. Off to the new location I went and it’s also in some plaza, but not sure what else is around, as I’m laser focused on this place and this place alone for my pre-​poker brain food fix.
I’ve been to this new location twice now and both times the employee manning the cashier has been super friendly and welcoming. Interior is also spacious with their typically comfortable vibe going on. Self-​service water (hot and cold) station with all the napkins and silverware you need. I did stray from my usual order of the quinoa wrap w/​avocado (used to be $ 6.99 plus .89cents for the avocado… now it’s $ 8.99 plus $ 1.49), but no complaints amazingly from me as this is one of the best tasting, healthy items I’ve had the pleasure of stuffing down my throat. I did give the grilled Baagan burger a shot, but mindlessly decided paying the extra .99 cents for gluten free bread. Not knocking the extra dollar, but the fact that I expected the patty to hold up well with the bread. It obviously did not, so eating it was quite the chore and mess. However, the flavors from the burger were still tasty, so if I ever decide to stray from my usual again, I’ll probably just have it in the bun. Their Chana Bowl is simply fantastic as well. It’s really hard to go wrong with whatever you order from here.
Have tried a number of their soups (they offer a new one for every day of the week) and have always left impressed by them all. Simply delicious!
I have a deep, deep love for this place and that might not be saying enough. It’s definitely one of my strongest five star rated places. Healthy perfection!

March 2016: Awaiting new management improvements to update review /​a lot of changes for the customer experience are currently being implemented as the change of location (Roseville to Rocklin) obviously created new challenges for them. The owner definitely has her heart into this venture and is always open to hearing customer experiences.
She’s reached out to me several times so I hope others contact if they have suggestions.
I can’t wait to return end of March to enjoy the great parts I’ve loved with bagaan & try new items as well.

I’m said to say this but the service and quality has nose dived at my favorite food spot. Time and time again the service is slow, disorganized and basic requests (light pesto) are ignored. My food comes out haphazard and doesn’t look or taste like my beloved Bagaan.
Now that they no longer make the wraps in front I can’t trust that they will be made properly, and that’s just sad. I’m super disappointed. I can only hope that one day they can hire higher quality staff members and find some better organization.

The food here is fantastic! 100% fresh and natural. My usual go-​to items are the quinoa wrap and the peanut butter cup shake. Love the concept of this place! You feel good after eating here.
Today was a strange experience (hence why one star is missing)
As we walked in, no menus were present in the front bin and I noticed that dining area was lacking customers for the noon hour. As I walked toward the front register area, no one was present. No menus to be found up front, no menu board was presented. If I had never been here before and wasn’t familiar with the set up, I would have been absolutely clueless and walked out. Another major disappointment was that the usual food prep counter with all the fresh food was missing. I feel that this the is main thing that makes Baagan stand out from other restaurants. Seeing is believing… you know?
As other customers were filtering through the front door, other comments were made as to «lack of Menus», «where is the food prep area?», «this is strange.» «Maybe they are going out of business?»
It was very strange and unwelcoming. As the gal finally appeared at the registers, no explanation was given and she looked just as confused as the customers.
When my food came out, I did ask a very nice gentleman and he explained that they are trying out new things.
I’m eating my wrap right now, it’s great like usual, but I feel I missed out on the usual Baagan experience by not being able to see all the wonderful veggies while they were assembling it.
Hopefully this is just a temporary thing and they will go back to the original set up:)

Wow. Did not disappoint. Walking in, I noticed th e fresh sprouts growing on the counter top, all the fresh veggies so beautiful, lined up for my picking desire. I wants something different to delight my bored taste buds.
Raw Nori wrap (5 stars): so delicious — fresh veggies and a choice of spread (I chose hummus) wrapped in nori, sprinkled with flavorful sesame seeds. Say,“yes,” to swaddling it in a rice spring wrapper to aid in easy handling. You must get this with avocado.
Chana wrap: (4.5 stars): big spinach tortilla with Chana beans (taste and look like firm smaller red garbanzo beans). Savory sour cilantro sauce was different and tasty.
Kitchari: (4 stars) hearty savory stew with lentils and curry. A warm, satisfying accompaniment to my cold wraps.
Great friendly customer service. Wish this place was in DC.

Yeeees! Tried this place after a long day running errands and was in the area. I wanted to try something new and wasn’t in the mood for anything heavy or greasy. This place does not disappoint! I ordered a quinoa wrap, a prana bowl, and a lemonade to go. The wrap is huge and I was stuffed after eating half. The soup is also filling, has a little kick (I added more), and full of serious goodness. Lemonade was refreshing and not too sweet. Service was fast and friendly. I came just before 5 and there was no wait, no crowds, no loudness. Good time to come if you’re in a hurry.
Only downside to this place: they don’t have a location in Folsom. Pleeeease open a location in Folsom!

They’ve moved!
Located in a strip mall but it’s not so much a travel store lookin’ kind of place. You order at one end of the counter and they’ve got an assembly line on the other side like Subway and at the other end of the counter, you pay. They take your name to call when your order is ready.
I ordered a smoothie and it came much later than my food from the kitchen in the back. Everything was pretty good and the staff was happy and nice.
Their take home items are displayed around and it’s pretty much the same Bagaan in a bigger place with a slightly different layout.
