Our justifiably famous galley fare and generous, personal hospitality is sure to impress. Feel the deck under your feet, sip a glass of wine, watch the sunset, learn to sail, explore ashore, and simply relax! Come on a Maine windjammer sailing adventure of a lifetime aboard the Stephen Taber, America’s Good Luck Ship.
History
Established in 1871.
A National Historic Landmark, the Stephen Taber has been working the coast under sail for over 142 years. Never laid up, dismasted, abandoned, or dependent upon charity, she is a testiment to America’s proud maritime heritage. And although we like to say the the cargo these days is self-loading, she’s still doing what she does best. Fast, able, comfortable, and darn fine lookin.
Meet the Business Owner
Capt. Noah B.
Business Owner
A second-generation schooner captain, Noah Barnes started sailing aboard the Stephen Taber at the age of 7. His parents, Captains Ken and Ellen Barnes, were at the helm for 25 years before their retirement after the 2003 season.
Although he spent many years sailing and traveling in other parts of the world, Noah considers the magnificent coast of Maine his true home, and is thrilled to be aboard the Taber. He is fond of a friendly race, cheese, and music, and is known to incorporate these as featured highlights of the trips.
