Gyro meat is pretty much the same where you go. To me it’s the sauce, amount of meat and toppings. There were absolutely no tomatoes which was a real bummer. The sauce was not very good either. Unfortunately I ordered extra which was not needed cause there’s plenty standard so I paid an extra $.50 for bad sauce. Going to Tom & Jerry next door in the future.

I’ve been going to Uncle Nick’s in Rockford for years, first at their location near downtown and then later on this one on State St. I was surprised to see the negative reviews of this location but it looks like most people are correct. I made the mistake of ordering via the drive through, that took about 25 minutes… with only two cars in front of me. I had to ask for tomatoes, they don’t come standard. The gyro I got was only lukewarm and while I like tadzhik sauce, my gyro was smothered in it. The fries tasted burnt and didn’t have a lot of salt on them. As I drove away, I saw Tom & Jerry’s right next door. Their sign listed Gyros, I’m going to try them next time. It’s a shame that Uncle Nick’s has gone down in quality.

Worst gyro I have ever had! Overloaded with sauce and no tomatoes.

Uncle Nick’s is a Rockford icon! Not sure whats going on at this location, but its really gone down hill. I stopped at the drive thru for lunch today and I just couldn’t believe it. The drive thru area was filthy as well as the outdoor seating area. I wouldn’t sit out there… I could find a cleaner spot in the grass next to the dumpster! I have heard rumors in the past that they had gone out of business, now I know why. I would not have known it was open if the sign outside hadn’t been lit. And the Gyro meat wasn’t very fresh… so disappointing! Hopefully they can get back on track soon. I would hate to see one more thing that Rockford is known for… just go down the drain:(
